Basically. A fuck ton of people sub, but only use the home page and not the subscription page. YouTube will recommend the same video to the same person on the home page a number of times before it just gives up. People who sub and don't click on those videos are basically telling YT that they shouldn't bother recommending that video to other people. There's also the type of person who subs because they like 1 video and then never watches another video from that creator again. I've seen people like this say that they do it just to show support, but they realize that in the end they do so much damage.

I prefer having some history. I had the idea that the Louds came from the northern Uí Néill and migrated, or more correctly, conquered Islay, which was inhabited by the Epidii around 476 AD, just around 24 years earlier than Dál Riata was formed. The reasoning behind Islay came from the movie, in which Loch Loud was specifically located.

A timeskip to the 1400s. A Lincoln lookalike appears, replaces the MacDonalds, who were historically the rulers of the Lordship of the Isles, and proceeds to lead an independence war against King James I of Scotland and wins, thus creating the Duchy of the Hebrides. I like to imagine Loch Loud as an independent state from the United Kingdom.

Another timeskip to the 1600s. That's when the 1600s Louds that we see in the movie were born. This is where I diverge from the movie. The dragon isn't the reason why the 1600s Louds were banished from the Duchy. It was more of a natural disaster that happened when their trip around Europe got interrupted by a massive storm that sent them to the New World.

With the 1600s Louds removed, Aggie MacDonald, who had a massive grudge against the Louds, takes power and commits a purge against the entire Loud dynasty. It is true that the main branch is gone from the storm. There are the cadet branches that needed to be dealt with, but her reign of terror didn't last long, unfortunately the damage was already done. There were no other Louds to become monarch.

Regarding dragons, fire-breathing dragons aren't a thing in Goidelic mythology. The closest is a Beithir, but they don't have legs, wings, and, most especially, any kind of fire-breathing. The same goes for Brythonic mythology. They do have a dragon, but it's more symbolic, not the fire-breathing type. That actually goes for Germanic mythology. The Vikings are part of the Germanic family. There's also the fact that the Vikings had established the kingdom of the Isles, replacing Dál Riata, thus creating the Norse-Gaels.
