Post bugs and arthropods of all varieties.

Thread Question:
If you lived in a bug world, what sort of civilization would you want to live in and what bugs would it consist of (even if the setting wouldn't make much sense)?

Just need to figure out what to do with the existing ideas I have, because the one thing that could be called an OC I have doesn't have much since it was just a moth princess made for a save the princess thread, along with the issue of her having multiple sets of arms, and the other idea I had was a panda ant in volleyball attire, but as much as I like the idea and the fact that it's a bit more realistic of an idea with your style, it's just a concept with no existing refs.

I've finally finished... This is the continuation of my Unprofessional Conduct stories
Sorry for the wait, it's about 23,000 words long. As usual I've made a typeset version as well as an AO3 post.

And she's kinda years old by now but honestly the concept for it came on because I was always a big fan of those LCD masks, especially ones you'd see in videogames too, think like: DJ Electrohead, Neon J was a BIG inspiration, Wrench from watch dogs too kinda..

Stuff like that inspired it!

Yeah, I can see the influence, always interesting to see technology utilized in ways like that, and it's all the more relevant when it comes to bugs since they can be compared to robots in a lot of ways like some bugs effectively using hydraulics to move and that one planthopper with biological gears

Yup yup! Granted for Five it's mainly a fashion accessory, plus also I enjoy keeping designs simple yet recognizable, and I think the mask makes her distinct yet simple! though I do have a proper robot bug if you're interested in that too.

And oh and to add, her being a termite was just kinda random choice! I didn't really wanna go with bees and moths since I wanted to go with something a lil less common!
>>
>>70927279
The robot bug is definitely cool too. As for the choice of species, I can certainly see your reasoning there since bees and moths are definitely the big two when it come to bug ocs and sort of end up a bit samey, especially since people tend to go with the same few species of those two types (which does leave some room for experimentation though with those types by going with unique things like plume moths). Termite is overall a pretty good pick because I've seen maybe two other OCs of that type and there isn't much art of them
>>
>>
>>70927483
Thank you! And yeah there is absolutely plenty to be done with bees and moths still! Nothing wrong with those, I just personally wanted to try something different, I personally can't say I've ever seen termite characters but I'm sure there's more out there!

As it turns out, I can only think of one other termite character that has more than just one or two pieces of art, this termite queen. The rest just end up being one-offs or get sidelined by some other OC

I admit I haven't read your previous stories, so I'm sort of screwing myself with a lack of context and knowledge of your writing, but holy fuck this is an experience. Your writing is impeccable, special mention to your word choice going a long way with things like atavism which is outside my vocabulary but going off the definition would very easily be in that of a psychologist. All in all though, Ingan is fucking insane. I get that he loved Zil and everything, but to fuck with a guard's brain chemistry to get through the portal and then proceed to sell out humanity for someone he knew for four months, even if it is an otherwise unobtainable experience, is absolutely crazy. Guaranteed he would be killed somehow once they let other people cross even without the government realizing he divulged information they weren't planning on revealing yet just for the simple fact he could reveal such information and is a loose cannon, along with the fact of potentially jeopardizing lives by just crossing. I can't comment on the smut because I couldn't focus it on it while thinking about the rest of this stuff. Your writing is incredibly compelling and makes me want to get back to reading the book I've kept on the backburner for a while now, but holy shit man.
>>
>>
>>70934202
Thanks for reading!
>>70934348
Thank you!
Hearing that my writing inspires someone want to read more is perhaps the biggest compliment I've ever gotten. I'm glad you found our protagonist so "interesting" because that's exactly what I was going for. He's always been a bit of a loner, choosing psychology not to help people but to understand them and potentially control them due to his childhood issues. I tried to imagine how someone like that would be changed by genuine affection, and how desperate he might become if it was suddenly taken away from him, eventually choosing to retaliate against those who had wronged him, even if it has consequences he's not prepared for. It's not meant to be rational, and I'll admit it might feel like it works out a little bit "too" well, but it's smutty romance after all. As for the glowies, I think he'll be permanently on their shit list, but seeing as he's acting in an official capacity for the other side, it'll be difficult for them to get at him without pointing the finger at themselves.

Glad you like it. You can do whatever you want with the character, she's yours.
