My reading on it is basically that Asher was technically stronger than both Lavender and the masked Gillian and was only really weaker because of Henna's semblance, so even if it did kick in Henna would still be nerfing him enough for Gillian to take advantage of it. Those two are just a bad matchup for Asher in general.

Man, I really didn't get just how lethal K and Henna were until the fic. It's bad enough Scarlet gets absolutely bodied in her first few fights with K before scoring a win. How dangerous are they going to be once they're TOGETHER?

I don't think anyone doubted Henna's presence and lethality in Scarletverse, but I DO think that only now are people starting to realise just how much of a threat K poses and what the eventual team up of Stygian will mean. Factor in EKHO, Henna's maiden status, AND the rampage K goes on once Henna dies, and you really do get a visceral idea of just what kkanon was going for with K.His inspiration list for K makes more and more sense too. I hope the fic readers don't expect anything remotely close to an easy win when SJJL DO get the upper hand.
