Yeah, that's one of those things where a weird mix of powers makes it a bit hard to interoperate. My reading on it is basically that Asher was technically stronger than both Lavender and the masked Gillian and was only really weaker because of Henna's semblance, so even if it did kick in Henna would still be nerfing him enough for Gillian to take advantage of it. Those two are just a bad matchup for Asher in general.

My guess is they want it to be more believable for Lavender to leave the cult and be able to join Beacon considering that’s happening in less than ten chapters (at the leaving the cult part), but I think it was a perfect choice to have this to be the catalyst for her to realize the cult and Henna aren’t all she was made to believe it was and that she doesn’t want to be like that.

This can be smoothened with some nuance I guess like maybe she's just not good at being deceptive to the people she actually likes and shit like that which might be a good avenue to developing her when she starts getting involved with K.

Lavender being a good guy so quickly has been a contention point for a while but you can see her regret and questioning throughout the scene which shows she isn’t a terrible person at heart. Ficbro says he has a plan so I have faith he’ll do right by her redemption and this is coming from someone who’s lukewarm at best on Beacon student Lavender, I kind of didn’t care for it but can see why it happened.

I mean her slower realization could’ve been interesting and that’s what I thought would happen actually, but considering how hook line and sinker Lavender was into Henna’s bullshit, she needed something drastic to wake her up so narratively it makes sense. I think it was perfectly written.

Well that’s more of a personal opinion. Henna being a manipulator makes sense considering most people high up in cults are but the fic is ficbro’s interpretation, so perhaps he feels Henna being manipulative fits better with the narrative he wants for the story.

I thought so too but perhaps Henna and K’s relationship will be saved for year two in the fic, kinda makes sense since not a lot goes on then. I actually like that K wasn’t involved. I’ve felt Henna’s identity was way too tied to K as I think Stygian discussion clouded Henna’s own arc, so I like that she’s getting a chance to shine as an individual villain.

Okay this is about what I thought, I will say some points can't really be answered without me revealing another departure from the greens, (if people do want to know as it's a decently big even I will just come out and say it but I just try to leave some surprises for you guys as well) but I'll try to explain my view on the rest.

So I fully agree that basically none of what I'm doing on Lavender's side works with the lack of context provided by the Greens, they just flat out handwave the fact that next to no one should be comfortable as soon as they are with Lavender, even taking my fic completely out of the equation Lavender tried to kill SJJL, Scarlet and Lumi twice, the SHOULD NOT be okay with her as soon as they are and I have all intentions of exploring that angle and showing how she gains their trust over time

Okay so I wanna mention two things about this, both in story and out, In story Henna is flat out deluded, fully buying into the indoctrination Tyrian put her through as well as the fact that Salem's circle is the closest thing she has to a family, she doesn't question them or their methods because it's all she knows, she doesn't expect Lavender to question it and when she does it in turn makes her question herself on a subconscious level, making her uncomfortable and angry, (for the record I'm just now realizing I didn't include that and that's fully on me to correct)
out of story Henna's always been a bit inconsistent, it's mostly just a consequence of how this works as a collaborative effort, I remember some posts in the past have flat out tried to say she's stupid which I fully disagree with I just think she'd have a blind spot in this instance.

this could be the case and I just forgot desu, it's been so long that I genuinely don't remember, but again I'm not sticking 1 to 1 with the greens

Man, I really didn't get just how lethal K and Henna were until the fic.
It's bad enough Scarlet gets absolutely bodied in her first few fights with K before scoring a win.
How dangerous are they going to be once they're TOGETHER?

I just wanted to point out the additions real fast because they are meant to be more subtle. Henna's far more indoctrinated than Lavender so unlike openly doubting it she buries the thoughts before they even reach the surface.

I don't think anyone doubted Henna's presence and lethality in Scarletverse, but I DO think that only now are people starting to realise just how much of a threat K poses and what the eventual team up of Stygian will mean. Factor in EKHO, Henna's maiden status, AND the rampage K goes on once Henna dies, and you really do get a visceral idea of just what kkanon was going for with K.
His inspiration list for K makes more and more sense too. I hope the fic readers don't expect anything remotely close to an easy win when SJJL DO get the upper hand.

To be honest my main problem is moreso the lack of character reinventing and personal growth for her redemption. I can begrudgingly accept her becoming one of the good guys, I just want a full journey onto becoming one.

See my experience is the exact opposite, it's never just ONE big thing, it's a series of events that lead to them realising things aren't really what it seems. Hence why I don't find it all that believable to me because in my experience, when confronted with a horrible truth people would just rather shut that truth away or ignore it entirely. I get where it's coming from though.
