>>72082316You're digging for treasure. The more you dig, the more valuable the treasure.
>>72069574June, September and October are my favorites with the posing, especially with how September was rendered. Also the values and use of shadows in August make it look very striking.>your fig studies are going quite wellThank you! I've been studying Mattesi and looking to expand soon.>>72082316How long have you been drawing? It took me a while to get into it. Otherwise, you might be in a rut. Consider shaking up your routine.
>>72082716A year and a half give or take, not every day or even every week though, mind you. I do remember being better at drawing as a teenager and then I just stopped, think I'm fucked now because I'm over 25 and if I'm not mistaken the brain starts losing neuroplasticity from that point onwards
>>72082249>related picelite ass *wort wort*
how much does tracing better artists take you farther in a technical sense
>>72082853If you were drawing as a teenager, then those connections should still be there more or less. I actually started at 25, and even if you lose plasticity you can build and strengthen neural connections through habits. I think if you start drawing consistently, even if a little bit, the habit would build.>>72082894It depends on why you trace. I've traced drawings before to study them, but for studies I usually do them side by side, checking at various stages. If you, say, analyze the forms or expressions, thinking about the artist's thought process, you'll learn more than if you trace just to trace. Like any study, you'll get more if you break it down.
>>72082894Tracing without purpose will get you nowhere. Tracing with intent to study and understand the piece can teach you some new things. Trying to replicate the work of artists you like is a key step in pushing your own abilities and figuring out new ways to approach art. Mindless copying serves little purpose though; if its something you can do without effort then it probably isn't teaching you anything.
>>72083242I would generally stay away from tracing outright and try for a side-by-side study instead. You have to be extremely purposeful when you trace for study, otherwise you're just wasting your time.I've only ever fruitfully done it once and it was specifically to test the accuracy of a brush I remade.
Any other fun-facts about coloring anyone has on hand?
>>72082316I've been drawing for probably longer than most anyone in these threads and I don't think I'm the most skilled here by a long shot. The thing is, that doesn't matter in the slightest. Art is a joy to make, and you should celebrate yourself and your own growth, instead of comparing your current skill to others.
I figured it out.My new cycle is:>do really well at art>feel really confident>hit a wall>be unable to continue>get mad>resign myself to drawing a million pikachus>hopefully do really well again on something that isn't pikachus? At least I found a way to stay productive while in a suck phase.
>>72082853You might lose neuroplasticity as you age, but unless you're senile, you're still capable of learning and building new connections. It just takes a bit longer. I started at 31 and I progressed pretty quick.
>>72085431can I see your work?
Just one won't hurt...there's no way Green will find out, right? Can't say I've drawn someone tripping out before so it was fun to try and make this as toony as I could muster.>>72085202Damn anon I thought it was just me but I guess we can share this pain. Yoshis have been my anchor lately and I'm hoping this confidence can carry over into future stuff. Why not show off some of those million pikachus while you're here?
>>72085623I kind of feel weird reposting this, because I feel like I'm bragging when there are better artists here. But I also want to prove that you can get decent at drawing even when you start at 30+
>>72085669I'll post some later. Cute Yoshis as always.Do NOT touch the fuzzy.
Anyone got some advice for me?I am very out of my element drawing anthros and more human anatomy, I've been drawing so much chibi stuff with Pecan. Trying to make some new OC characters
>>72085764I'm 33 and I've grown a ton in the past year or so, just glad to see another boomer here lmao.you've had amazing growth for such a short time.
>>72086469I'd give the pig girl's upper arms a little more meat, and I'd rework the neck connection. Necks aren't perfect silos, they contour to the jaw and the back of the head. Tweak the butt cheeks, her left is a lot bigger than her right. I can't really comment on the mouse girl, more bestial bodies are outside of my expertise. I think you did the faces really well, especially the pig girl's. It sells depth very convincingly!
>>72086897Thanks, that all sounds like pretty solid advice. I'm exhausted from being up all night but I'll try to apply some of this in the morning.
Any feedback? I think now I'm finished, but I can't help but be paranoid when I really invest in a piece.
>>72087185I like it. the stylization and color palette is nice, and the little hints of squish is really pleasing. All I would change, if at all, would be to apply some of the more gradual shading to the rest of the body as you did her gloves and leggings.
>>72087328I could try that, but I did want to set apart the gloves and leggings as a "different" type of material.Real pantyhose likes to diffuse light a lot.
>>72087431yeah, I could see how you'd want that to be different, but having some kind of gradient could go a long way with her body. It just feels a little flat in comparison. This is kinda nitpicky though.
>>72087446Totally fair, I can never make up my mind how I want to shade things anyway. I'll give it a whirl tomorrow.
>>72085669>thought it was just meIf there's one thing I learned last year, it's that it's never just you (or me, in my case). All artists go through this. Like I said, I'm just glad to have a couple muses to funnel energy into, instead of not doing anything at all.Have a pika misbehaving, and being subsequently corrected.
>>72087860What a good trainer, lmao.I need to figure out how best I can funnel hitting a wall into drawing a comfort character. It'd definitely keep me productive/practiced. No wonder your stuff is so clean.Have some cute pika.
>>72085431I started at roughly the same age and I've made hardly any progress, if any at all
I'm more excited this week than last! I'm going to finish the job! I look forward to showing you guys!
>>72082853>the brain starts losing neuroplasticity from that point onwardsThis is just a myth, neuroplasticity continues throughout your life. The whole idea comes from a misrepresentation of a study on the prefrontal cortex.
>>72091990This, "Neyroplasticity" is a cope argument for "I'm old and lazy why aren't I good at things with no effort"
>>72087924That is a very clean pikachu. I feel like I recognize this style but I also don't. Blog? Same guy I replied to?>>72091990>>72093901I think the 25 marker can be best described as "I've matured enough to have formed an identity/character, and my opinions won't change much throughout the rest of my life." But of course, nothing's set in stone, and you certainly can still learn whatever you want to learn. The brain is an immensely powerful organ, despite what some people might make you think.
>>72095621@feshpwince on Blue sky. My art is all over the place, and I'm not the same person you were replying to
>>72097070Oh it's you, haha. I should have recognized. That really is a very cute pikachu picture. I didn't immediately recognize your style. I wish I could do something wholesome without lewding the rat.
>>72097257why not both? wholesome lewd can be peak.
>>72097653This guy gets it.Cute-sexy and deeply romantic raunchiness is peak sexo grande
>>72097689This, passion is hot as fuck.it's what made this piece one of mine one of my favorites.
>>72097653True enough. I am trying to hit that aesthetic myself.
Looking for any pointers on painting
>>72087860That's reassuring to see as typically I'd make a few deliveries that I loved but upon finishing them I'd have nothing left to do and tank my drive as a result. My yoshi craze is recent but has helped immensely in maintaining focus and putting out ideas that otherwise clog up my brain. Nice to see some thicc ass pika pie from you to compliment your lovely Toriels and I look forward to more. Poor gal just wants her fire put out but not like that!>>72091535Fucking cat playing in the underwear drawer again. Your lighting effects are fabulously executed and I love all of the subtle details you include as well as your attention to expressions. Always a pleasure to see your work.>>72097653Ah, this makes me weak in the knees.
>>72098764Thank you
>>72098115I think the transition between the left leg and hindquarters should be more gradual.

more cloth studies
I posted this in the last thread and i tweaked a couple things before i start todays big practice session but the back/shoulder blades are driving me insane. If anybody is willing to redline/ give some pointers i would be very appreciative
>>72101027That does look better, especially the white near the head/neck. Also, Misty, that you? Thanks.

>>72103205>Why is the world filled with cunts who can't design technologyBecause they want to sell you a 'solution'
>>72102305This was a bit trickier than I thought. Basically, what you're showing is if the skin was directly on top of a scapula. Unless this person is pretty emaciated, you'd see more of the muscle structure underneath instead, which is much larger. It's hard to explain in words, so I have a couple breakdowns of how I map out back bones and muscles.
>>72105980>>72102305And with the bone/muscle layer on top of your original piece
>>72103205tl;dr for the tech industry is pay lower wages, get less effort/skill. your colors are sooo good!
>>72106093It's literally just yellow, anon, but thanks.
>>72105980>>72105999Hero shit, thank you. I will eventually have to work on musculature and such at a later point. I'm still trying to nail down construction that im comfortable with still
>>72106144Yeah, but what about the eyes? That's pretty nice!
>>72106144I had meant the eyes
>>72106283Oh, thanks. It's a Color Dodge layer above the brown, using a saturated orange-ish color to add a bit of dimension.
>>72106370That's really clever, I'll have to use that.
>>72106238Why can everyone add jaws to circles except me? >:( What is this form of retardation called?

>>72106720I have studied, I am simply incapable and mildly retarded.
>>72106528Let me tell you a secret
shit took me like 15 minutes to get right
>>72106880It's been five years anon and I still cannot into triangles on circles...And head shapes usually take me way longer than fifteen minutes...
>>72106972Why don't you show us stuff you've done recently? Maybe some shape studies or a recent drawing. If you show us your art, we can help you.

Inking and a bit of hatching attempt. Is the perspective alright? It's meant to be slightly looking from below and her looking down at you. Appreciate any other feedback as well.
>>72102305>>72108024
>>72103205Thanks for indulging me with these thiccachus as you draw them very well. Once again I think your eye rendering is lovely and they have some nice depth to them. I also agree that the timer has been the death of several comments for me.
>>72082249who drew the OP picasking for a friend
>>72108945Thanks man, and I guess I should also study about form squish too and flip my pictures more often.
>>72107720nice
>>72103205Me again. Cute pikachus are fine, but I don't know what to do to improve right now. I'm so bad at studying that it feels like I'll just end up wasting my time. I've already done so much and I feel like I can barely retain anything I have learned.Arrrrrrgh...
>>72083867what helped me was studying colour theorythere are a few colour theory videos on yt that i can reccomend youhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akVAWghc_KEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbFsqAbMlx8
>>72087497my advice would be that since this is a furry, the outline of any rendering on her body can be "fur" shaped if that makes sensewhat i mean is that you should worry about learning to describe different materials with your rendering- which you did a good job of so fari really appreciate those silk sheets in the back btw
>>72085764Did you start drawing last year or did you draw before that?
how many people here actually use Krita as their daily driver software? I spent some time with it in the past but moved on to CSP. But I'm thinking of torching my windows install and jumping over to linux. I guess I could just finagle it to work in WINE but apparently it's kind of hit or miss on how functional it is in that environment if it even launches at all.Anyway, how do those of you who use it regularly like it?
>draw >feel nice>take break>look at what I drew>suicidal >stop drawing for the dayhow to improve mental fortitude against yourself?

>>72116612punish yourself by drawing more
B
hi i'm new here and i'm a mega autistic who cant focus on learning. do i dare post examples of my art
>>72120644yes
>>72120644>"can't focus on learning"for me it's the overwhelwing amount of resources that make it hard to know where to begin, the 3 hour tutorials that are more like 6 to 7 hours long if you actually pause and follow along, and the fact every other book on how to draw is pages upon pages of hyperdetailed drawings with walls of text alonside them and no step by step process on how to get there
>>72112985I would doodle two maybe three times a year and hate myself for not being good. There were also multi-year stretches of time where I didn't draw at all.I've drawn more in 2024 than the rest of my life put together. And I didn't even draw everyday.
still cant get her right, improving, but not right , any tips?it's "skeleton" made with light h pencil ,(you could call it gestures i think) with body drawn with darker hb pencil
>>72120644i cant focus on anything really by the time i get to color and shading i just give up and scribble it in
Bad news (for me): As expected, ballpoint ink does not stand up well to alcohol markers. The alcohol in those markers are organic, but even that will make the ink bloom, which isn't very good. Archival and gelly do a better job of standing up to the alcoholic menace. The gel pen, however, needs to be a good one. For example, my Pilot G-2 tends to leave teeny globs that take longer to dry, thus being prone to smudging.Just trad artist things. Digichads need not worry ;)
>>72112580Makes senseI don't want to make the mistake a lot of artists do when drawing anthros, where the "fur" just becomes "funny skin color" and it's shiny like skin is. Of course, cartoony styles can be as fantastical as you want, but it drives me crazy whenever I see it in a "skilled" piece
>>72121727You've made insane progress considering the short amount of time. Good on you!
>>72120644Don't worry, I'll be kind
>>72123349well this is just some of what i've done in the last year >>72122004
Blargh.
Anybody have artist recommendations for fat shortstacks?I want to draw fat Isabelle, some references and inspo would help
>>72125224Man, this is NOT easy.
>>72126665>>72125224No, it isn't. My best recommendation is find art you like and do studies of it. There's lots of different ways to tackle shortstacks, its hardly an exact science. Studying the art that inspires you and experimenting is the way to figure out how you wanna do it.
>>72126665>>72125224Here's what I've got so far. Any feedback? I'm okay with the boobs and belly being somewhat unrealistic, I really want to convey "round"
Normally I'd have just left this delivery in the drawthread but I was so happy with this deep dicking that I wanted to share, plus its nice to know that I'm not completely stuck with yoshi brainrot. I think my practice led to a very good end result but I sometimes wonder how 'readable' my finished stuff is. I love my cum showers and conveying energy with FX/text/imagery but wonder if it can be tad distracting or detract from the main focus of the image at times? Maybe I'm overthinking it but more eyes or criticism never hurts.>>72123591These fat fucks are very adorable and I'm glad that you're throwing them out here for us to see in between your other stuff.>>72126882You're doing a killer job so far and you definitely succeeded in conveying roundness, especially with her breasts and fat squishing against herself. It looks like you have a great grasp on what you want to make with this. The only thing I'd say was missing is her bells as she needs to have her jingles jangling around.
>>72129429I'm conflicted. on the bells. I've drawn her with them plenty of times and want to see her REALLY, extra naked. But at the same time, they ARE very iconic.
>>72129544No need to be conflicted about it. I should have checked if it was an intentional omission so disregard what I said. If you desire her to be naked as fuck then indulge yourself to the fullest, dear anon. I'd like to see your other Isabelles at some point too.
>>72082373NTA, but you've just changed my whole perspective on my art journey so far. Thanks.
>>72083837I remember you from a different thread. Thanks for the brushes!
Bumpan, this has been a good thread
>>72130711Oh yeah, here's one I drew about a month ago.I like it, but I want to make her fatter.
>>72123588Some decent fetish art
>>72134543Holy shit that is fucking exquisite stuff right there and with some very spicy dialogue and great color choices. I'm such a sucker for thick ass binary lines and lighting as its one of my favorite styles. Is there a secret to that textured binary brush? I've always wanted something like that in SAI but it has always lacked it to my knowledge which is a major bummer for me. I think this piece is pretty awesome and definitely serves as an inspiration for future endeavors of mine. I look forward to the results of your quest for chub and will have to search you up for more later. Thanks for sharing, kind drawfriend and keep at it.
>>72135410If I can figure out how to share a Krita brush, you can have it. I saw this Loona drawing somewhere and loved the texture it used, wanted it for myself. I think I modified a Krita default rough ink pen and set opacity and ratio all the way up, and gave it a little more scattering.
>>72129429>in between your other stuffWhat do you meaaaaaaaaaaan this IS my stuff right now anonI'm stuck!
>>72115510I use it when the fancy strikes me to animate.I like it. Even when I can't find things on my own the documentation and wiki is solid enough that I can find any information I want.
Finally done with this one, i think i completely lost the plot with what or how i was trying to do with this image but here it is. she still looks a bit eerie but I think it's more cute than scary.>>72087185Looks pretty good! the pentagram harness is a funny detail.>>72101027Have you ever looked at meandraco for inspiration? both your subjects and your style remind me of his art.I would quote the reply about making her eyes look like gemstones but desu seems to be taking a nap, thank you if you are reading this.
>>72138096Oh wow that blur looks fucked, didn't export well at all
>>72138113Can the blur be done as a gradient?
>>72138143Nta, but yes, you should be able to gradient a mask over top of it....Never done it myself, and never actually figured out how to before, but this idea should work, and now I'm wondering why I never thought of it before...Let me know if it works!
>>72138143it is done as a gradient, or more like it was solid and i erased a gradient out of it but same effect really.here's a screencap of how it looks on my screen, ill figure out how to actually do it right when it's not 4am.>>72138175i used a filter layer over every other and then used the eraser to cut it down to the garden, then used an eraser gradient to have it increase with distance, maybe there's a better way to do it.
>>72115510iirc it's what Aka Leopard uses and he does some pretty damn good stuff with it, can't speak for it much myself since I draw exclusively on the ipad and it isn't available there
Good night

>>72138867damn dude, good stuff
pic isn't mine but would you say 2025 is an improvement?
Here's the next study I've done, where I added the boots and socks, this time with a herringbone pattern.Thoughts one what I could improve?
>>72138867Neat but why Isabelle?I mean why radically change the body and personality of a character with an established look and personality when the game also has a ton of other actually more fat looking girls that are also very cute and with different personality types.like the pigs, bears, elephants and cows for exampleor is it all just about her being kinda cute in new leaf?
>>72143023Beats me. I'm an on-model guy at heart, but something about her as a fatty gets me going.
>>72142728I think you did everything well except the hole. It's a quite uncommon gesture.
b
drawing snouts is really hard for no reason
>>72147558Those look good. You've incorporated the snout into the skull properly, which is a step most people seem to miss. Now it's just practice.
>>72147743in general the underlying guiding skeleton from basic shapes is called "construction". gesture is a few squiggles you lay down when you've drawn a million constructions and it's drilled into your brain and all you need is a rough estimation of how pose will work in a composition
>>72138298i would go super cartoony and ditch all the textures
>>72149754>gesture is a few squiggles you lay down when you've drawn a million constructions and it's drilled into your brain and all you need is a rough estimation of how pose will work in a compositionNot quite right. Gesture is useful for beginners as well when it comes to practicing making characters look lively rather than stiff as egyptian statues. The tricky part is preserving that liveliness during construction.
>>72150699this is completely my opinion but gestures are like boxes. they definitely have their utility and are good to learn but you shouldn't make a schedule of grinding them
>>72149754Construction is the underlying shapes that a form is composed of. It doesn't have to be a skeleton, or cubes, it's just a framework to help you visualize as an artist. You use it to determine a subject's presence in 3D space, on a 2D plane.Gesture is the flow of the pose, the exaggeration. It's like an abstract representation of movement for an image that is not moving; or, you can think of it as a single frame of animation, if it were to lead into more frames, or has led from previous ones. Gestures can contain construction, or not, and almost everything has a gesture, from the whole body to the pose of the fingers. Both of these are very hard if you're a retard, like me. :D
How have I done with the hair and facial structure? Does the facial symmetry look okay?
>>72150897True enough. Gestures should be short and simple, so there really isn't much to grind with them to begin with. Once you've got a good handle on making them consistently fluid and dynamic, you're good to go. Just like with consistently making cubes in more-or-less correct perspective just by eyeballing it.
>>72138298You worked real hard on this and it's nice to see the final result on this cute sheep gf. I think you've got a good focus on her with the background being blurred out a bit. Good job.>>72138867Thanks a ton. I'll likely have to give Krita a shot if only to try that pen out as it'd be perfect for my yoshi cravings, probably. Funny how fast I'll try something when it has the one thing I want. Lovely Isabelle too and I'm happy for your successful fatty indulgence and can't wait for more. Horny demands and horny must be obeyed.

hrrnnngggI feel like my clean lines might be improving. Could just be wrong though>>72082716Thank you! I think I somewhat liked my progress as well this year. I feel like I learned a lot when it comes to lighting and anatomy at least. Also great to hear, and keep it up yourself!

>>72157379You COULD draw. You seem hesitant to, however.
>>72157419What do you meanI post in this thread all the time
>>72155645There's something about those eyes that is just so captivating and attractive.
What happens when you sit in your chair for an hour or so, drawing? How much changes when by the time the hour's up?For me, sometimes there's a lot of changes, but usually very little in an hour. I'll spend some time browsing 4chan or Twitter during that hour before getting back to drawing while sort of being frozen by my choices. Am I afraid of change? Am I afraid of commitment? I want to put add more to my sketch in an hour than usual.
>>72157213Thanks for everyone that joined. Here's what I was able to get done so far.>>72158522This is very much appreciated. Thanks for posting this!
>>72159413Oh I fucking love this. I'll never understand why you hype my work up as if you're not also incredibly talented yourself.
>>72159541I hype up your work because I /like/ it, not to put my own down. I just enjoy being a fanboy!
>>72159413This is really cute, but perspective seems a little off. Would you be offended by a redline?
>>72131182no problem-o
>>72142240I would. There's a more unified directional light and forms are easier to read. 2024 almost feels like it's glowing from within, where 2025 gives the impression of light wrapping around a form.
>>72159824Please do, I'd appreciate that a ton!>>72155645This is fucking excellent. great work!>>72152160A couple things; The eyes are different heights, when wrapping around the head, they'd appear as thinner, but never shorter. the chin might be a little bit forwardthe hairline circles around the head like a hood, which if that's what you're going for then ignore this, but usually hairlines trace along the squared-off nature of the forehead.Getting in the habit of flipping your canvas horizontally will reveal these little things to you more easily than trying to eyeball it without.
When did fresh join us? I didn't pay much attention to the threads for some time
>>72160607fesh*
>>72159413>>72160139It's the torso that's off, the lower body looks good. In the original drawing, it looked like her right hand was in front of her left knee, and her left hand in front of nothing, which doesn't seem to be the intention. If you DO want her pose to be slightly off-center, then her torso should be twisting, and her left arm should be bending.Likewise, same reason why the right shoulder shouldn't be higher than her left. I pulled her body in a little closer, and tweaked the arms. There's really nothing you need to do with the face or lower body, they look good. Although do a double take on her left ear, not really sure what's going on there.Lastly, boobs really don't go up that high. If you're planning on her wearing a bra, they should be distorted somewhat.
>>72160607>>72160623I've been here a few months, but it only just dawned on me to use a name lmao.>>72160677Ohh! This helps a ton. thank you so much!

>>72161169Idk maybe longer. This year was a blur
>Can barely draw because of hypersomnia>No energy to do anything>Feel tired all the time>Appetite is non-existent>Just waste the day away sleeping This fucking sucks and there is nothing I can do about it.
>>72161186Not only for you...
>>72161361I've mostly been using vitamins and headache medicine to counteract it and it does kinda help in keeping your head from feeling like it's made of lead and your eyes from glazing over.Just doing some stuff to disconnect your brain from overstimulation during any form of sleep might also help too, like just staying away from screens.
I backed off from posting this idea of mine until I did more substantial work. I don't observe the actual 12 days of christmas, but I did start this on the last day, so it counts.
And this is where I'd post my non-pikachu pictures.IF I HAD ANY.
did a drawing exercise where I draw something without undoing or erasing and I liked how it turned outturns out learning and practicing fundamentals translates to all areas of art, who woulda guessed
A bit late to the party, but here is something I recently made before new years. Versus something around roughly the same time a year ago https://files.catbox.moe/3uxo0y.jpgAnd no i won't be posting 12 months if progression (because I have no idea when I drew what)I should be keeping better track of when I drew something
Also I temporarily fixed my problem taking photos (i let someone else do it)
Here are actually a few that I try redrawing with my fingers lol
Center and far right look very rough (even with reference used) but left is peak. No reference and actually too time rendering. Was actually in the mood for that once
Since I'm very lazy this is unfinishedText needs some work, first panel needs a entire redraw, needs backgrounds and also two additional pages The guy is actually my self insert
And here is my (yet unfinished) pride and joy I don't know what in doing, but I like it just for the sheer amount of time I worked on it so far. Will be posting this on /ic/ later for the lols
>>72167261>>72167282>>72167305>>72167321>>72167349You manage to add a lot of details, which is good. I think your art lacks a strong sense of physical depth, however. I think you should study lots of basic 3d shapes, which is an art fundamental.
>>72164004I cannot handle just how cute you draw them.
>>72169256Thank you.I suppose if I die tomorrow, at least I will have contributed some cute pikachus, if nothing else......................... ; ;
Decided to practice muzzles and snouts. I feel starting with the muzzle vs starting with the head is better mentally. How do you approach protrusions?
>>72168816I'm not entirely sure what this means. But thanks
>>72171981Sorry if I'm not being clear. What is unclear about what I've said?
>>72160677Thanks again for the notes! I didn't want to cover up too much of her silhouette, so I lowered her upper torso a bit to have her hands better in line with her legs, and I redrew the ears to be a bit more...idk detailed?I wanted the breasts to look like they're pressed together without them looking like the usual giganto-mega-milkers I usually draw, but I've also added a bit more hang to them.I also raised her left shoulder to make her arm look appropriately long.I think it's turning out much better!
I generally don’t like drawing nsfw but I found it can be pretty great for practicing poses. This was also pretty fun and it wasn’t even the most explicit drawing I did.
>>72170575Now that's a load of bologna and you know it. I very much enjoy your art and it's inspired me to step up my own line-art game.
>>72172242I am just very dence, is all.
>>72172455>>72172898Well I hope we can inspire each other because that dog is peak. I guess artists really are cursed not to see the good in their own work, because I just cannot accept compliments for the life of me.But thank you. Here's a dumb doodle for /v/'s GDQ threads. I rolled a random purrloin, which isn't a bad Pokemon at all. It's not perfect but it's not bad for an hour's work.
Would you say the speech is fitting? The comic was inspired by this https://files.catbox.moe/82hey3.jpg
>>72173737I think it's pretty good.

A big source of stress for the past couple of months has finally passed. Now I can refocus back on drawing and worrying about the next big source of stress.>Captcha: 4DRAVso close
>>72173735Hell yeah, dude!I'll get you to accept a compliment eventually, 'cause I'm not gonna stop fanboying over your work any time soon.
I’m not done with the basic shading, nor adding textures, but I’m getting overwhelmed with the lighting. I can’t make it convincingly an open door into a dark room. Tried messing around with layers of gold or orangy on top to simulate that kind of color, but it’s not working. Getting to the point of not wanting to work on it anymore because I’m stuck.
>>72174638Maybe an overlay layer with a flat color over the entire pic can provide some unity with the hues? Maybe that's throwing off the feel.
>>72174774Maybe. I’ve been messing around with that and it’s not really clicking. I can’t find a reference either, so I’m just going off vibes and this is why I don’t paint as much anymore.
>>72174937>>72174774I’ll just keep trucking and if it’s bad at the end, it’s just bad at the end. I’m over it and want to be done so I can enjoy other pieces.
>>72175069Instead of doing that, just put it down for a bit and work on something else? Maybe you'll have an "ah-ha" moment.
>>72174638dunno what you've tried already but you should decide where the light is in general. shadow on the wall suggests it's somewhere chest level so top of the bedsheet should be darker.
>>72174937>>72175069Something like this? This is a bright orange Overlay layer at 36% opacity.>>72175151This is good advice too. It's a good pic, no need to abandon it.
>>72175151The problem is, this is me returning from doing that. The real problem is I don’t have enough experience painting different lighting scenarios, but my time I can spend doing any art is so finite, so studying doesn’t really happen.>>72175169My shadow on the wall is wrong, then, because it should be overhead, like if you opened a dark room and the light is from a fixture in the ceiling, but now that makes me think the person opening the door should cast a shadow…>>72175226That’s what I had, and I didn’t think it looked right, but maybe that’s just my own brain failing me.
>>72175247Well, I'm sure if we put our heads together, we can come up with something. It might help to blur the edges of the shadows a bit.
>>72175466Thank you (and other anons), though it’s still not where I want it, your advice has at least help me move. So I’ll keep a watch here, and take a break as I think over some stuff about it.
>>72173814Thanks. I guess i keep the text then.
>>72174638maybe this helps
>>72174638shadows are more crisp the closer it is to the light source. you can give some depth by setting the Shadow's edges to varying degrees of blur the farther it is from the opening of the door. Nothing too extreme, but if you have the shadow on a different layer a slight gaussian blue can go a long way.
I luv u all
WIPTrying out new brushes
>>72177439Actually, it really does help a lot. Thank you, anon.>>72177626Thanks, that helps, too.
Does her head look like it’s turned too far back? I’m trying to use the image on the left as reference, but it’s not feeling right to me. Maybe I did it from the wrong angle or it doesn’t translate well because it’s a furry head?
>>72178570Neck is definitely busted, yeah. Try it yourself in a mirror. Snouts make it more complicated because now you have something communication dimension much more than our faces usually do.
How do you manage your time when it comes to practicing your art? Do you draw outside of your house at all?
>>72179642I’m only able to draw for 2-3 hours a day. I refuse to be seen in public drawing furry art.
>>72179642draw for two hours a day minimum 95% of the timerecently taken to observation drawing and/or general study at work because its slow, but its kind of depressing to just draw my workplace and im not drawing porn at work
>>72179931>>72180135>2 hoursJeez, guess I need to stop slacking
does she look right
>>72182694At a glance it seems to me as if her waist is too slim, like the femurs have no trochanter. Arms seem really long, too, even though the proportions also seem correct. This might mean her torso is too long. Maybe someone else can chime in. I really like her face though. Really nice shapes, well-proportioned as far as I can tell, and very cute.

>>72172743>>72183565I really like these.
>>72173735I'm slowly accepting the idea that it's perfectly fine to like and appreciate your own art, however hard it may be at times and I've been attempting to avoid putting my own art down when posting as it ruins confidence. My art often doesn't live up to my 'vision' but some anons like it even if it's silly doodles and I have to accept it and not backhand them by bashing myself. Your art is awesome and anons enjoy it, myself included and it's saddening to see you cast doubt on it as you put in the effort by drawing it in the first place. Not every single piece has to be the biggest and most ambitious piece ever and it's ok to just throw out doodles to keep yourself active and drawing. This goes for everyone here but no matter what stage you are at you have to try and appreciate that you ARE doing your best even if it doesn't feel like it. So long as you are drawing what you can, whenever you can then you're doing fucking great and making the effort. >>72172743NSFW poses are mind bendingly tough to do but they're very rewarding when you pull it off. Nice to see them again by the way.>>72177801She's looking nice so far. I'm very fond of the face as I am a simple shape enjoyer.
>>72163231>>72171522I decided to practice some Jim Rat faces (and dicks) and I made a pretty fun discovery that helps me see a pattern of consistent shapes.
Bleh. Been stuck at this level for longer than I had wanted and struggling to find something to help step up my game.
>>72185107Thanks, Yoshifriend. I think it's just post-seasonal depression. I'm still productive right now, I'm just not enjoying it. But we'll bounce back. Also that's a very lewd pic. I admire your ability to both envision and then manifest these complex scenarios.
>>72186003the gesture of your poses is solidkeep going
drew dino
>>72186666That’s some good dino.>>72177439It’s kind of shocking how just a little change made it immediately read better. Whether it’s “correct” or not, I think I don’t hate it as much like this. I still got a lot of rendering to do but yeah, thanks anon and the other anons who helped.
I need to get back to actual drawing soon. I've just been doing these since the new year.
>>72186666Sweet angle.

>>72185107>NSFW poses are mind bendingly tough to do but they're very rewarding when you pull it off. Nice to see them again by the way.Definitely. I feel like I’ve been slacking when it comes to poses so this has been a nice challenge and change of pace. Also thanks.
>>72157379>>72160139Thank you :D>wish I could drawya can and ya should>>72157794Thanke, I love drawing eyes. When done right it really does capture the illusion of life in a drawing. That said, I still gotta get so much better at it myself>>72186666oh hell yeah dude, love everything about this. Forms, lines, pose, perspective, and colors. Very nice work!>>72186797Nice bnuy! I would say to, if its possible, turn off the current paint layer you have and try to zoom out and focus entirely on doing flat shadow shapes with no blending and see how that turns out
Now that i'm done with Rita, next is Gia and Alex
>>72191910You never respond to me :/ this is a mistake.
>>72186797Same guy.Do a 2-3 tone sketch and hide more stuff in the shadows it will look better
>>72138096>Have you ever looked at meandraco for inspiration? both your subjects and your style remind me of his art.I should now that you say that.
>>72144567I love the softness of your line art! Also, is that spot above his balls his hole or just a fold in the scrotum?
Was doing this for another thread. My anatomy is not that great but I can usually see the problem if I walk away from it and come back but it kinda looks right or maybe it's right enough. What do you guys think?
>>72195900The guy’s groin looks a little too long and lacks some detail (ie the penis is too low). The girl’s left boob is also defying gravity a little. Remember the robertsons are basically water balloons attached to the pecs. Other than that it looks good to me.
Alex is not that hard to turn into simple forms, after, he's nothing but boxes, save for his mane that goes through in some places, must've been a nightmare for early cgi animation. Now Gia... that'll be a problem>>72171522that note about big snouts is relevant to my drawings, thank you for including it
>>72182694>>72183451I reduced the size of her arm and angled it more up and lowered that shoulder. Also I made her upperbody a bit shorter and it makes her head look bigger, I did not increase her head size.
>>72196794Liking it a lot! That face is still so good. What's your process for faces?
>>72196794I always try to make the elbow stop before the end of the ribcage and have wrists (not the hand) line up with the crotch. >>72196386Alright I see what you mean. Ill try to fix that. Though her left boob I drew that way because her arm is right under it. Though doesn't look right either way lol. Thanks for the response.
>>72196863Oh my bad I'm not the OP I was trying to help! xP
how did you guys come up with your artist handles? No need to share them explicitly, just gimme the approximate background.

Any help for that or anything else would be appreciated.>>72197372Used to take care of marine mammals. So I used "WistfulPorpoise" for a while because I missed it, and that's still my FA name.Friends nicknamed me "Wisty" at one point, and I kinda liked it, so I adopted it. Then I just added "doodles" to the end.
>>72197372I used to play a game called DCSS way too much and it has an enemy in it called a 'Very Ugly Thing', which I feel kinship with. I created my kink profile on a total whim so I just went with 'Very Filthy Thing' on impulse, feeling that was fitting for NSFW art.On reflection I wish I had picked something different just cause my art isn't THAT filthy compared to a lot of people.
Fuck you stupid fucking niggers
>>72198713Want me to take a crack at drawing the face?
I’m struggling to find good reference/artists to study particularly who do good fluffy butts and general fur rendering, can you recommend me some?
>>72200856Sure, if you have time.
>>72200979If you use e621, they have a robust tagging system that'll help you find art with those features.
>>72201150You would think so, but I’m not having as much luck as one would think. I’m still looking, of course, but so far not a lot of success.

>>72198713I can at least say this much, try working on facial symettry. Make a rectangle over he face, see what is too high or too low. Also lol, boobies are too high
>>72206140That would imply I know how to draw planes on a 2D image as if they were in 3D. I do not. I've put so much time and effort into trying to learn without success that I simply don't think I'm capable of it.>boobies are too highI actually don't think they're too high--I think my torso is too short or something. I always struggle with this and the placement of the neck. So her boobs are too high, but I don't think the reason is bad placement, I think it's because I don't know how to place the upper torso/neck area properly. Despite practicing again and again. Because of aforementioned retardation.Sigh. I really hate art sometimes.
>>72198713Nose feels like it's just floating around, Lombaxes do have a little bit of a snout. You can probably indicate it better than I am here but it's important to the look of the face no matter how you do it.
>>72205710Man, those are some sexy-ass furries, especially the deer.
>>72206278>That would imply I know how to draw planes on a 2D image as if they were in 3D. I do not. I've put so much time and effort into trying to learn without success that I simply don't think I'm capable of it.Have you tried drawing after having a considerably strong edible? That sounds like it's just "funny haha weed" but it genuinely helped me visualize things to an insanely better degree. The benefits also last, it's not like you need to be high whenever you want to draw. Once you get those pathways started they stick around and you can keep exercising them without drugs.
>>72206632I don't do drugs, so no.
>>72206452Something like this might be a bit better/more on model, after looking at a reference it's a more of an angle than a slope between the brow and nose.
>>72197372I just made it up on the spot. Called myself “type” once, so when I started posting my writing elsewhere, I called myself “TypeAnon.” Because back then I only saw myself typing, not drawing, so when I moved on I just stuck with the name.
>>7220668099% of the time I'm in the same boat, I don't enjoy altered states. Drugs are a tool like any other, though. They have specific effects on the brain and body, and these effects can be taken advantage of with measured, intentional, and (most critically) sparing use. Or you can be like my boss who had a gummy in the evening for three years straight, went cold turkey, and had pot withdrawal psychosis nightmares for two weeks.
>>72164777i draw a fogs this time
>>72198713Power's back!Alright, There's two big takeaways I have from this. It doesn't seem like you made a "skull" for her head, to keep everything in proportion and perspective. It's a cute drawing of a head, but it's not a "constuction" of her head. I haven't really drawn Rivet before or saved much Rivet porn, so I don't know how abstracted/stylized you want her, I just went with the original model for reference. The biggest things to get right on a head in my opinion is the jaw, and the eye sockets. Once you get those, usually the rest of the head is an easier affair. The black portion is a drawing of a "Skull". You don't have to draw out the entire thing every time, but it's a great mental tool. The black dots are what would be the high points on her cheeks. The body was the other big thing, and a lot simpler. It's simply skewed proportions, namely too short and too wide. Now, with keeping the big funny cartoon head, you could simply use the transform tool to shrink the torso/enlarge the head, and it should still be fine. Her actual body seems like it has mostly normal proportions, they just shortened her legs and gave her a huge head. It shouldn't be too hard to reference from an actual woman.I think she'll look really nice when she's finished! Anatomy is a pain in the ass to learn fresh, I was fortunate enough to take it as a college course. You remember skeletons when you have to take your midterms on them. Muscles are important to learn as well, but I'd say by far the most important thing to learn is skeletons.
>>72208020I goofed up the right titty, oops. Boobs are my drawing weakness.Don't take this as gospel, but food for thought
>>72208020>>72208080Thank you for doing this. I apologize that you had old work to do it on, but I took everyone's advice when I was making changes even before you posted this.I tried to apply betteranatomy after the initial sketch. I think her torso is still too short. Hopefully I fixed her skull somewhat. I tried to use some guides for it.I guess I'll let this sit for now as I question my hobbies.
