I’ve now had 5 different artists ghost me mid commission and frankly it’s starting to really get to me. Now at least most of them either eventually get back to me and one which I’m not angry with seemingly just outright disappeared and if anything I hope they’re okay. But one artist that ghosted me now has opened up her comms again after a year of silence and hasn’t tried at all to contact me. Like genuinely if an artist just messaged me once a month to say “no updates” I’d be fine or even just saying they don’t wish to draw it, I’d be annoyed but I wouldn't push back beyond asking for at least some of the money back. but the months of silence and now just outright seemingly choosing to not finish it with not a word for the already paid for work is infuriating. If I had a better platform to say my gripes I’d have shouted it to the heavens. At the very least a different artist gave me the best form of a compliment a commissioner can get: they came to me and asked if they could draw one of my characters for free just because they liked the design of them.
