If the CYOA calls for rolling of any sort (or you just feel like leaving something up to fate), use random.org (or physical dice, or something else that isn't your postnumber) to generate the number, and write it in the post with the rest of your build. In short: Do the rolling before you post, instead of observing the post number you get.Bible quote of the day for 18/01/2025>“If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.” (Deuteronomy 22:28-29)

... Anyone wanna see some of the CYOA I'm working on?
>>72437581What is my relation to these heroes, and are the aspects for me or them? Because if they're my guardians and the powers are for them, there's gonna be a problem since they all seem focused on fucking other people.
What in your opinion is the best waifu picker featuring normal, everyday girls? i.e. not monstergirls, aliens, gynoids, etc
>>72437581Hmmm....I want to give my input but I don't want spoilers...
>>72437581Your relation to the heroes is that you are a non-ancient ancient, and you need heroes to defend you so that you may survive to become a proper ancient-ancient. It's a 'defence of the ancient' CYOA, you see. Aspects are for you unless otherwise specified, they represent your burgeoning powers of corruption that the ancients of dotadom possess. The heroes keep their in combat powers. You'll get some points to purchase a couple of weak-sauce generic aspects, or alternatively purchase more aspects for heroes you already have at a cheap cost or from heroes you don't have for a steep cost. I am tossing up whether I should make the entries bigger for more fluff. I'm also entertaining the idea of putting in some tags for stuff like 'carry', 'support' etc, though I haven't planned to do anything with them yet beside maybe giving a point bonus for having a 'balanced' team.May or may not do something with items, not sure how to make them sexy besides 'the enchanted sword is actually a dildo now'.
>>72438022Looking for fictional normal women is more pathetic than wanting weird degenerate fetish women. Go outside if you want normal women, there are no good CYOAs featuring them.
>>72437581>>72438453>it's a power picker where the girls are just an afterthought that you only take for their bonusesgrim
>>72438453Absolutely do add fluff.
>>72438453Personally, I find that items are almost always a waste of time in cyoas. I normally just skip them over. A fire sword just doesn't stimulate the imagination in the same way fire powers do. I'd say the only real exception to this is realistic survival-type cyoas, where your life or death really depends on what you carry on your person.
>>72439902The main problem with items is that they can get destroyed, lost or stolen, meaning all the power you depended on your item for, as well as the corresponding points you invested, is lost as well. If stolen they can even be used against you. Having items that give you power is like every opponent turning into a potential power nullifier or power stealer. That said, items CAN be viable by simply having their own point pool, completely independant of the actual power pickings. It also helps when there is a clause that prevents destruction and makes them return to you after being lost/stolen, turning a complete loss into a handicap that can be an in-story challenge in itself.Personally I like how Dance on the Palm of Evolution did it. Seperate point pool with the ability to track them down when lost or stolen (no mention of destruction though). Also, while the items are overall neat to have, considering the powerlevels and your potential growth in the rest of the CYOA, they are mostly just a starting boon to help the early game. Pretty much all their special properties can be implicitly learned as skills somewhere down the road or are even available as starting skills (e.g. Bag/Kimono of Infinite Space and Magic Inventory). Those items will go a long way in securing early survival, but even if you do permanently lose them one way or another you do not lose any direct personal power from "chara creation".
>>72429965>pay fifty pieces of silverhow much is that, accounting for inflation?
>>72439050>you only take for their bonusesBit enough about yourself anon
>>72440856>they can get destroyed, lost or stolenMost cyoas come with countermeasures for that tho?
>>72441145>At spot valuation of $28/ozt in 2021, 30 "pieces of silver" would be worth approximately $91 to $441 in present-day value (USD) depending on which coin was used. divide by 30 and multiply by 50

>>72439050Ah, see, the girls are only there because you have immortality, and may potentially bestow them super powers. So it's, like, mutual. >>72440856>>72441157>>72439902Come to think of it, there're a bunch of magical plant stuffs, I could maybe do something with a bunch of renewable plants seeds that could be cultivated. But, like, make them magical lewd plants with magical lewd effects. >>72438022BTG's Prison Transfer CYOA got some good mundane ones amongst all the magical ones, in fact its got a spectrum from entirely mundane to government spook to regular human but from another world, to angels and aliens and all that stuff. With personalities, even.
>>72441711>the girls are only there because you have immortality, and may potentially bestow them super powers.>So it's, like, mutual. That's pretty based then. Are you planning on having alignment equivalents or groupings the way e.g. dota and lol have good team evil team variations? What sort of intrinsic bonuses are you planning to have or selections apart from the girls
>>72441711See, the thing about magical plants from the dota verse is that they' be renewable. So you could make crops out of them, sell them, give them to your minions to wield on your behalf, replace them after they are lost, all that good stuff. >>72441748maaaybe, currently writing by the seat of my pants.I got aspects for every girl, some brief ideas for some power sections (probably some minor personal perks like changing your appearance if you don't have any hero aspects that can do that, meta stuff like getting perks from heroes you didn't pick, some hero enhancing perks like enabling your girls to TP to and fro, etc). Then, maybe a drawback section? After that, possibly a combo section? Dunno, we'll see, I'll keep writing this during the week whenever I'm not busy and I'll see about grabbing pics while I'm at it, too; I need to build up a library.Honestly, at this stage, I am deliberately trying NOT to overthink this project with excessive planning; I don't want to end up on 5 redrafts like I did with Zako CYOA.

Bible quote of the day for 19/01/2025>“At that time the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he went throughout the land of Gilead and Manasseh, including Mizpah in Gilead, and led an army against the Ammonites. And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD. He said, “If you give me victory over the Ammonites, I will give to the LORD the first thing coming out of my house to greet me when I return in triumph. I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.”>“So Jephthah led his army against the Ammonites, and the LORD gave him victory. He thoroughly defeated the Ammonites from Aroer to an area near Minnith – twenty towns – and as far away as Abel-keramim. Thus Israel subdued the Ammonites. When Jephthah returned home to Mizpah, his daughter – his only child – ran out to meet him, playing on a tambourine and dancing for joy. When he saw her, he tore his clothes in anguish. “My daughter!” he cried out. “My heart is breaking! What a tragedy that you came out to greet me. For I have made a vow to the LORD and cannot take it back.” And she said, “Father, you have made a promise to the LORD. You must do to me what you have promised, for the LORD has given you a great victory over your enemies, the Ammonites. But first let me go up and roam in the hills and weep with my friends for two months, because I will die a virgin.” “You may go,” Jephthah said. And he let her go away for two months. She and her friends went into the hills and wept because she would never have children. When she returned home, her father kept his vow, and she died a virgin. So it has become a custom in Israel for young Israelite women to go away for four days each year to lament the fate of Jephthah’s daughter.” (Judges 11:29-40)

How common are CYOAs that go beyond the character creation? Like where you actually go on an adventure with branching paths that you choose.
>>72450089Human sacrifice was actually quite common in Canaanite religion, and it wasn't really restricted to enemy captives or criminals like in say Germanic Paganism. So it's very easy to believe this did happen, a Canaanite warlord promised to sacrifice his own daughter if he won, he won, so he did. Whether it's a real event or not it was probably used as justification for more human sacrifice events in the culture.

So I have an... idea rattling around in my head. Setting might work for a CYOA. Could be mechanically unique if I were to pull it off. Not truly lewd, but...>~1/10,000 women beyond puberty all around the world develop what at first looks like pseudocyesis>They de-age if they're over ~35 at a rate proportional to their age, grow taller if they're below the top 10% relative to their ancestry, and develop an ageless aesthetic if they didn't already have one. They won't age anymore.>If she's in a relationship with a man that is genuine on BOTH ends, he'll de-age too>If she doesn't have a "bond" she can form one later>"symptoms" occur as normal, "complications" completely absent>85% stop growing at the 9 month mark, 10% stop somewhere in the 6-7 month range>5% slow but don't quite stop even at 9 months; they grow to top 1% relative height and get even bigger (still within realistic limits) until the 3 year mark.>Powers. "Psi", not "Magic". They develop as she does. Bigger belly = moar power generally, but also more physically hampered. Exceptions exist.>All girls have healing abilities, are never combat focused (that includes "magical"), but otherwise they're fairly diverse>Their men develop powers too, without fail with strong offensive applicability, though some non-combat abilities are usually present too.>There's a general relationship between what she can wield and what he can. If she can light a candle with fire psi, he's very likely to also have fire psi, with much stronger maximum output. (Mechanically, say, she's capped at Fire 1, but if she has it he gets half off on ALL Fire)>Their milk is a powerful rejuvenant; while it won't de-age it's the next best thing. There is an in-universe attempt to be tactful about this.>Fertility rates in a city-sized radius around them spike, as complications and defects vanish.>Nobody knows why this is happening or how powers work yet. Several parties would like to know these things.

>>72454925I think I'd like to try actually making it a CYOA... at some point. I'm over here trying to balance work and school and I have no OC to my lack of a name (so I'd probably want to try making a 1-2 pager or two first), so I'd wager it's hardly around the corner. But I am invested in the idea, both from a narrative and a mechanical standpoint.I'm not sure you'd need to "get" the pseudopregnancy aspect itself. Mechanically, it'd be a combination power picker / waifu builder, where both draw powers from the same list, but each has different constraints, and one of the influences on the male side (which would actually I guess be entirely optional) is what's present on the female side.I guess I'm also trying to get a thumb on the pulse of what the reception would be. Whether other Anons would be willing to work with it, with the narrative and mechanical scenario it presents (which ought to be, if nothing else, novel). I can't quite know how other people think, only how I think. I don't really understand finding it a turn OFF, but I know that's a thing that happens.Of course, if there are any genuine ideas offered, I'd be glad to consider them.

>>72459555>maybe make it so that there's something physically growing inside themHmm, I am pondering this. I had a certain narrative flow in mind, with doctors and eventually feds frustrated specifically by finding *nothing*... I'm not averse to the idea of them having "psionic demon cores" inside their bellies, but that raises the question of what happened when the docs *did* find something on the ultrasound. Does removing it harm or even kill them? If so, there's another narrative hook for their men to feel protective... but I feel like "vulnerable person with harvestable magical part" is played out. I like the mystery created by there being nothing directly observable, and the frustration that creates for the people trying to study this new phenomenon (and especially the people of varying shadiness paying them). Does a lack of justification work if it's glaring even in-universe?>something to justify these women randomly becoming not-pregnantI was thinking this actually wasn't all that random. Testing data reveals that:>100% dig the belly, even if some are embarrassed by that fact>90% score 1 or 0 on the Kinsey Scale, 100% are 3 or less>Zero observed cases have more than academic curiosity about non-monogamy>Personality tests return 0% high neuroticism and 0% low agreeableness>0% show low emotional intelligence, and most show high to *extreme* emotional intelligence>0% hate children, and most love them>Every single observed individual who did not have children already was specifically mildly in favor of the idea, but not so much the fact they can't have them now upsets them. And not a single interview with people close to them shows that the phenomenon has significantly changed these traits. There's definitely something of a "type" to them.>>72457082Hah, maybe I'll put that in a WIP build. I am of the mind that even after the powers manifest, the apocalypse hasn't happened yet... but most people feel it's not too far over the horizon.

>>72461000>I'm not averse to the idea of them having "psionic demon cores" inside their bellies, but that raises the question of what happened when the docs *did* find something on the ultrasound. Does removing it harm or even kill them? If so, there's another narrative hook for their men to feel protective... but I feel like "vulnerable person with harvestable magical part" is played out.Reasonable concern. You could go the same route as other supernatural stories, and make it so that normies can't perceive any of the supernatural stuff. And sorry, you misunderstood what I meant about the random pregnancies. I meant justifying the whole phenomenon that women are suddenly growing bellies and getting superpowers.Maybe this is just a personal gripe, feel free to tell me if you think so. But I find it detracts from a cyoa or smut in general when it's too blatantly specific. "Suddenly, for no reason, a woman is rejuvenated, while developing a false pregnancy". Sure, I can accept that. "Suddenly, for no reason, women all across the world got younger, taller, and pseudopregnant, and they got superpowers, and their milk got superpowers, and their boyfriends got superpowers(but only if it's true love)". Now that's just too much to have without a reasonable explanation. I guess what I'm saying is it's fine to write a "the writer's thinly-veiled fetish" cyoa, but you do actually have to thinly veil the fetish.
>>72462785>And sorry, you misunderstood what I meant about the random pregnancies.I realized it just a bit after I sent it, lel. I'd slammed up against the character limit again and wanted to leave a chance to respond to what I did type.>Now that's just too much to have without a reasonable explanation. I guess what I'm saying is it's fine to write a "the writer's thinly-veiled fetish" cyoa, but you do actually have to thinly veil the fetish.Alright. I do want to hold onto the idea of in-universe lack of understanding, along with some sense that *something else is coming*... but that's no good if it turns people away. Welp, now I have to come up with something that's not too contrived. But from a different angle, I also want the player to be up against the unknown because I want to see what Anons might do if they don't have a clearly defined opponent to design their build to "win" against. It's something I think I've seen too much of lately.I guess I could drop the milk thing. I thought it would make a fun angle for an interplay between capitalism attempting to go brr and the people involved trying to maintain some degree of decency, but I think with the non-suggestive healing abilities it could already be superfluous anyway. The height thing isn't a fetish for me, either. It's more about how... these women are becoming icons, avatars of fertility, femininity, life itself even... restoring and enhancing life for those around them with the twist of no longer being able to create more of their own. (That satisfies the "Immortal Sterility Clause".) Suddenly the phrase "larger than life" occurs to me, and I think there's a silly pun in there with the current context. But really, people who are taller are figuratively looked up to. That's one of the back-end things they've "ascended" for.I'm playing with the idea that there is a conscious, higher power behind the initial event, that doesn't want to be found. "Fertility goddess" feels too trite though.
>>72463185damn people really do think its a divine miracle when a female gets creampied and then squeezes a baby out the vagina 9 months later even though it happens more than 10,000 times each day.
>>72463325Good taste is evolutionarily selected against. That's why is restricted to furtive occult writings.
>>72463185It's not like you have to give up the mystery entirely. Take my idea about the magic stone for example. There's still a lot to wonder about that. Where did it come from? Why did it happen simultaneously to so many women? Was it a random force of nature, or was there conscious intent behind it? Was it a one-time thing, or will these stones cause further events or undergo some kind of metamorphosis? All kinds of things you can ask.I also find it pretty uncreative when people just build to win fights. But if someone really wants to powergame, there's not much you can do to stop them. Not to mention, it's a choose YOUR OWN adventure. They should be free to play how they please. But setting all that aside, if you really don't want to change anything about your concept then don't. I definitely understand to desire to have other people enjoy what you make, but your primary target audience should always be yourself.
>>72462785>>72463185(What is up with these post numbers?)>make it so that normies can't perceive any of the supernatural stuff.I kind of am on board with this idea, actually. Not everything, mind you, but the things like the "cores" that would allow the normies to make sense of what's going on.As for explanations... the first thing that comes to mind is having the higher power speak over the agent addressing the character (was also thinking this would be formatted as two separate interviews, one for the guy, one for the gal), but that's already done by both that one monster girl CYOA and (much bigger) OR. Maybe something more subtle? "Whispers" throughout the pages, culminating in a direct encounter (dream?) on the last page?I'm firmly of the idea that, observed or not, it was kicked off by a single even at a very specific point in time all around the world. I'd been musing about a crack opening in reality followed by a light shining through on these girls (all of them at the same time), that only they could see... but I think that was just because I rewatched that one scene with Matt Smith. I could see using that as an intro: "10:57 GMT, December 23rd, 20XX. Ten years, five months, 27 days ago. That's when this all began.">>72463369It's getting late, so I think I'm going to knock off here, but the thing about the stones that *I* see is the additional (good) questions they raise: How long had they been there before activating? If a long time, were they influencing the girl's personality? Is she a product of her own choices, or something else? I think distressed navel-gazing is a fun literary phenomenon.I think this has been fruitful, take care Anon.

There's also the option of making all the choices out of character rather than something your character is deciding for themselves (i.e. "You look down at your body. The idea is that you get points to spend on powers by>making the world more hostile>taking stronger/more enemies that you have to defeat>personal drawbacksWhat I really need advice for is regarding the points system:Should it all just be one slop of points for the whole thing? Or have different categories of points so that appropriate tasks encourage you to take appropriate powers (possibly with an exchange rate)?

If the body thinks it's already pregnant, it's not going to bother ovulating (obvious, no?), but nothing is affecting their egg and sperm cells themselves. Reproduction should still be possible with modern medicine and perhaps a surrogate. But now I'm working with these ideas:>Two mutually exclusive powers/perks, "Maternal Core" and "Conception">The former is as previously discussed, providing a massive power boost at the cost of actually occupying the womb>The latter allows the woman to simply will herself to ovulate. Pregnancy is guaranteed smooth, birth is not. HOWEVER, while carrying this true pregnancy and right after birth, all her powers are severely weakened. His experience a minor strain that's aggravated by overuse. Over the next 1-2 months, her tummy refills (you don't really want her stuck with post-pregnancy belly right?), her power levels creeping back up to normal in the process.>Maternal Core should still be able to reproduce via a surrogate. The fact that some have Cores and some don't should add some "saftey" to them being visible, while also providing a dash of explanation along with in-universe mystery.Under the hood, the setup/justification I'm working with is this:>Fertility and love "spirit" (she's weirdly insistent she's not a "goddess" if the chance to ask comes up) is one of many beings at the outset who want to try their hand at shaking things up on Earth>Thanks in part to her power over birth (and thus "beginnings"), she manages first dibs on spreading her influence>She's the only completely benevolent one of the bunch (mommy vibes), but her "toolkit" is limited and not meant for combat>The powers involve "turning the girl's fertility energy outward instead of inward"; the whole "improved conception and birth" around them wasn't even her intentionNot too contrived, right?>>72463687>Will you be my preggo battlewife?Well I wasn't planning on it, but...

I use GIMP for large bitmaps that need to be pixel perfect but that's mostly for GIS applications or occasionally modding, and I don't do that much either. When it comes to CYOAs, I think most things work fine and it doesn't really matter. Bible quote of the day for 21/01/2025>Samson went down to Timnah where he saw one of the Philistine women. On his return he told his father and mother, “I saw in Timnah a woman, a Philistine. Get her for me as a wife.” His father and mother said to him, “Is there no woman among your kinsfolk or among all your people, that you must go and take a woman from the uncircumcised Philistines?” But Samson answered his father, “Get her for me, for she is the one I want.” Now his father and mother did not know that this had been brought about by the Lord, who was seeking an opportunity against the Philistines; for at that time they ruled over Israel.>So Samson went down to Timnah with his father and mother. When he turned aside to the vineyards of Timnah, a young lion came roaring out toward him. But the spirit of the Lord rushed upon Samson, and he tore the lion apart barehanded, as one tears a young goat. Without telling his father or mother what he had done, he went down and spoke to the woman. He liked her. Later, when he came back to marry her, he turned aside to look at the remains of the lion, and there was a swarm of bees in the lion’s carcass, and honey. So he scooped the honey out into his hands and ate it as he went along. When he came to his father and mother, he gave them some to eat, but he did not tell them that he had scooped the honey from the lion’s carcass.
>>72499627>His father also went down to the woman, and Samson gave a feast there, since it was customary for the young men to do this. Out of their fear of him, they brought thirty men to be his companions. Samson said to them, “Let me propose a riddle to you. If within the seven days of the feast you solve it for me, I will give you thirty linen tunics and thirty sets of garments. But if you cannot answer it for me, you must give me thirty tunics and thirty sets of garments.” “Propose your riddle,” they responded, “and we will listen to it.” So he said to them,“Out of the eater came food, out of the strong came sweetness.”tune in tommorow to find out the answer and how the story ends. feel free to guess in the meantime

The NIV works with the oldest manuscripts available to us via modern archaeology, as opposed to older translations that work with whatever they had available. tldr competing modern English language translations only exist because some guy hated women enough to make one (or to account for dialects like a British bible with different spelling)Now for your rebuttal, what bible translation do YOU prefer? (This is where I try to hold back laugher as you say KJV)

wrt Mesugaki ConquestI'm currently working with the following list of essentially blessings/cheatskills that you pick one of as basically the reliable method that you never 'lose'. Any other requests? The idea is that it's mostly evasive/endurance/defensive stuff rather than actually hurting people. You should need to triumph through the power of cunny, this just stops you from getting stabbed to death (heh) before you do.-True Regeneration-Intangibility-Invulnerability-Perfect Teleportation-Temporal Revision-DuplicationAlso, current design docutment to date: https://rentry.org/ozyv77wvAny requests for a different bodytype? I'm planning on adding amputee stuff as options in drawbacks already, but still good to hear specific interests

>>72512502Solid, even good by reddit standards. Not too much actually interesting but it does give me yet another CYOA idea that I won't, in this case, be adding to my list of WIPs
What's the bump limit anyway?
