I'm hoping to do this next summer and make a pilgramage to all my favorite Initial D touges.
I'll probably drive a kei car though. It'd be cool to drive a cool JDM car around, but if I don't own it, It'd feel like a shallow pleasure.

It'd be cool as hell if I were rich one day and could afford to buy a car in Japan, drive it around for a bit, and then import it home.
Or buy a car here, import it there for a vacation, and then import it back.

How do we stop overtourism from the west into Japan?

The amount of Westerners I saw while checking in at KIX was absolutely dwarfed by the amount of Chinese. It was wild. Probably a ratio of 25% Westerners, 60% Chinese, 15% Japanese.
>>
>>2721496
Chinese tourists were a real low point on my most recent trip to Japan. Chinese Americans or civilized ones from the nameless island are perfectly fine, but fuck those mainlanders. They would push and shove into every line, rush for elevators when there were japanese women with strollers who needed them more, and fuckers would spit everywhere they went.

Every time I hear those loud vulgar mandarin sounds I would know the day was ruined, especial if a whole tour group shows up nearby. Its the main reason you want to avoid anywhere really touristy. The Han have the loudest children among all the non-african races. And their phones, why do they have their ringers set to max volume and then pretend they dont hear them ring? Why dont their phones go to voicemail before 20 rings, or at least have the courtesy to mute it if they don't intend to ever answer.

Even so, they are middle class and above in China.
>>
>>2721503
The good news is the Chinese have different tourism tastes than westerners. Skytree, ginza, a fireworks festival, cherry blossom viewing you will run into a lot of Chinese. The cabelcars at Fujikawaguchiko and hakone were especially bad with Chinese tourbus crowds.
The otaku places not so much, at least not the over 40 crowd who are the worst behaved (and the spitters). You wont see the bad chinese in Akihabara or Ikebukuro, or the party places like Kabukicho. Roppongi and Shibuya they may hit the main tourist sites (the crossing) but wont actually enter any of the bars or better restaurants or affect the nightlife.
>>
Who’s worse: the Chinese or Australians?
They’re both equally and annoying
>>
>>2721510
Chinese tourists are closer to the stereotype of the loud, American tourist than American tourists are. Most Americans I've seen are
>extremely confused couples, constantly looking at their phones
>weeaboos, good and bad
>lone tourists walking around in the middle of nowhere, whom you always notice too late to say something to in English
>expats who revert to being more American when spoken to in English
The average American tourist mostly seems awkward and confused these days, while the Chinese are loud, obtrusive, and always being corralled by staff (usually for taking pictures where they're not supposed to). However, I rarely go to the degenerate nightlife districts of Tokyo and Osaka popular with tourists, so take it with a grain of salt.
>>
>>2721517
Expats are funny. They are so used to being silent on trains and make no eye contact until you startle them with a "hows it going?" and it takes a moment or two for them to register they ability to communicate once again.
Then they are chill but they always seem so startled by sudden communication with strangers.
>>
>>2721495
They need to develop that ESTA-like thing ASAP. Charge $100+ to enter the country. No more poor chinese or indians. Use the funds to incentivize birth rates.
>>
>>2721510
What about in Kansai? Should you expect to run into them all over Osaka and Kyoto?
>>
>>2721528
The Chinese dont seem to leave Tokyo and fuji area as much. They dont give many fucks about shinto shrines too much either so Kyoto and nara are of lower priority for them.

I haven't been in Osaka since 2016 so I cant comment on how it is now. maybe the chinese go to the super mario themepark, I dunno?
>>
>>2721528
>>2721529
they only go to places that are popular on their social media, little red book. they dont care about the country or its history or its culture, they see something on little red book, they want it.
>>
Why is Chiba Prefecture not popular among foreign tourists? Is it because there is no breathtaking nature or historical buildings and it is simply a countryside?
It is popular among Japanese living in the Tokyo metropolitan area as an easy tourist destination.
>>
>>2721517
The worst american tourists are probably the groups of 10+ college aged students. They can't seem to shut the fuck up and they fucking yell.
When it comes to the chinese it's kind of the same to be honest but with the chinese it's the older generation that sucks while with the americans it's the younger one.

As the pool of places nerds can go for nerd shit rather than just being stabbed dwindles, you're going to see more and more foreigners go to the last few holdouts.

Japan, Taiwan, Switzerland, maybe SEA, and that's pretty much it. And Switzerland and Japan are already starting to "open up to the world" so in a decade everyone will be going to Taiwan because "it's crazy how bad crime has gotten in Japan the past few years but it has nothing to do with the thousands of Pakistanis and Somalis they've imported"

Why dont you stop going to Tokyo or Osaka and just go somewhere else? You retards go to the most popular places and then complain. Why not go to Aomori? You'll be the only fucking foreigner there.
>>
>>2721748
If your goal is relaxation then do as little "hotel hopping" as possible. Japan has famously good public rapid transit so pick a comfy home base and view a lot from there. You can do really distant day trips in japan easily, and at most do those with nothing larger than a laptop bag/small backpack or nothing at all. The days of exploring without a bag at all are the most liberating.

Checkin/check out and relocating luggage is the most stressful part of travel. A lot of people overplan and have 6 different places to stay over 10 days, and then are completely exhausted at the end of it all.

Seriously it is. If you are hotel hopping or doing aribnb, your checkout is often 10:00am in japan, and the next check in time is either 12:00 or 15:00. You get your mid day luggage burden. Luggage lockers exist but any locker larger than purse-sized is full by 9am in any major train station. If you check out at 10pm you are likely stuck with luggage for a good chunk of your day.

By all means use a luggage forwarding service if you are jumping from a hotel in tokyo to a hotel in osaka, but anything involving hostels and especially airbnb they do not offer those services, especially places that simply have a key lockbox and they email you a room number and pass code (very common in japan). So shipping your stuff to an APA hotel? Zero issues. But shipping your luggage to a a mystery apartment building in Shinjuku with no humans on site? You are fucked.

Since 90% of things in japan close at 5 or 6pm you have wasted the usable hours of the day doing unnecessary hotel shit and hauling luggage. It is fatigue and stress instead of going to art galleries and shopping or whatever else you wanted to do to actually enjoy Japan.

Even places booked on hotels.com you arrive and it is this shit. The regular hotel sites are allowing it more and more, and this really limits your luggage options.

A real hotel will handle short term storage for you as a courtesy, or for a small fee at the worst, but the modern travel landscape there is no human on site.
>>
>>2721855
>>2721856
I don’t understand why anyone would subject themselves to this shit, and on top of that checked luggage is expensive as shit. Why not carry a 30-40L backpack, which can carry anything you might possibly need and then some. What do you even need that justifies a suitcase if you’re not a woman or too fat to carry a few kilos on your back? You can wash your clothes literally everywhere in Japan

>>2721858
This is the way. I always just take a 40L pack and a satchel for day trips, even if I somehow fucked up and had nowhere to put my large bag it's not the end of the world to carry it around for half a day.
>>
>>2721861
No I am saying don't do it that way, I have friends who made these mistakes and overbooked too many hotels in too short a time as they migrated wit ha JR pass.It was a disaster as you would expect.

I stayed in an APA once on a previous trip just because it was convenient and I wanted the free manga they give out (its a fucking weird book).

>I always just take a 40L pack and a satchel for day trips
Of course, but if you are in japan for 3 weeks you have a day trip bag and then likely your real luggage somewhere. That is where the burden is when you plan your trip badly.

You know this is a japan thread right?
Did you ever stop and wonder why Japans "cyberpunk aesthetic" with 9 story buildings with digital billboards and stores on every single floor are peak global tourist destinations? All the tokyo tourism hotspots are shopping destinations, is that a coincidence?

Don's has a whole floor of luggage and even places like akihabara have discount luggage stores right in the heart of it all because tourists are throwing money away and exceeding their carrying capacity within hours of arrival. Most travellers in Japan are buying the crazy shit japan is famous for, or they are looking for specific holy grail collectibles in Nakano.

As I said even the hotel booking sites included keycode properties calling themselves hotels now, in order to compete with airbnb. On my last trip my hotels.com bookings had more limited check in options than my airbnb bookings which had actual hosts to contact who could hold luggage. About 1/3 of buildings called hotels in tokyo dont have a front desk anymore, just a wall of keylocks.

APA is a safe economy business hotel solution, its like the "super 8" of japan that are never amazing but they are trustworthy. They are cheap and offer good value, and are less expensive than most airbnb but may not always be in the most interesting locations as they are meant for travelling salarymen. An APA will be close to bars and maybe pachinko but little else.

The airbnb are a nice option if you want an apartment for an actual kitchen, buy groceries and you can find one at specific stations even if there are no hotels normally in that area. A decent airbnb should cost more than a buisness hotel hotel.
>>
>>2721917

Ive never done capsules or manga cafe sleeping, I am 6'3 and was too tall for them. Even APA single beds are too small and my feet are over the end of the bed. That's why I like apartments with tatami mats and futons, or places with proper queen size beds.

On my last trip I actually rented a love hotel for a week for a great price just for the super kingsize harem bed and orgy jaccuzi bathtub.

some people are creeped out by love hotels, but they are kept insanely clean and people fail to realize the vile shit that people do in normal hotel rooms as well.
This was about $110 canadian a night, had a living room with a big TV (and pron channels included), a mini bar, the king sized bed was just one of the rooms in the love hotel. and then the bed has all the crazy lighting controls and the phone, and a catalog of escorts you can call.

There was a sextoy vending machine that was emptied out, it was located on the way to the bathroom in the suite. Usually there are pink rotors and ballgags inside, plus instant ramen noodles. They tried to make it look less sleezy when marketing it as a normal hotel room but of course it didn't work.

>>2721927
>Did you have an orgy though
I had a threesome but not while I was staying here, surprisingly. I never used this love hotel as a love hotel because I didnt want to make a mess in a bed I actually sleep in.

Find a "pepper lunch", they make a denny style skillet kind of hot plate with burger and gravy and steak and a friend egg. Its like a fastfood discount steakhouse for 1100 yen, like if mcdonalds served hamburger steak and grille beef strips.

If you are hung over and need that healing grease, this is the place. They are all over tokyo.

Nyangover in shinjuku was a fun place. A catmaid cafe for people who want to get wrecked.
Just stepping in the door a catgirl with hand you a tequilla shot and she will have one too, and that is the greeting before you actually order anything.

Not as slutty as the succubus cafe from the last thread, but a similar unlimited alcohol at a low price setup, the girls are more experienced drinkers and hang out playing phone gacha games. The theme is that it is a bar run by alcoholics for alcoholics, only this time with catgirls.

Go in and you will told right away if it is a private members only place (its their polite way of telling foreigners to fuck off). if that's a non-issue you sit down at the bar, greet the bartender, and nod to the person beside you.
After you get your first drink the conversation starts, even if its just awkward google translate. Being out of place makes you a mild curiosity and Japanese open up to strangers while drinking.

the shady or sketchy dive bars of tokyo are the ones usually near stations in back alleyways with a thai massage on the floor above it, but not at the touristy stations (golden gai used to be these kinds of bars before they became tourist traps with cover charges).

There may or may not be a red lantern out front, but generally look down an alley for the paper lantern indicating an Izakaya, and if there is one bar there are likely two or three more bars with it plus the usual rub and tugs. They are nice dark places to drink and forget the outside world.

Not a great story. I had a good run at pachinko and after called up a place I have a membership at and ordered up the 3P service. Japan agencies often have good daily specials for 3P as they pair an inexperienced new hired girl with a more experienced one, or when dealing with foreigners they pair a girl with good English with a girl who panics at "hello".

If you don't plan ahead with 24 hour notice, its like a gacha where they pick two available girls for the 3P package. They may have a nomination fee for 3000 yen more which lets you specific a favourite girl but often that invalidates the 3P discount as well, and escort gacha makes it a surprise.

Just make sure its a decent agency that doesn't substitute in SEA/Filipino girls. The good agencies are 100% Japanese and pride themselves on it. You are never disappointing with those places.

(pic is not who I used, just an example. Mods deleted posts with escort links).

What if you disguise it as an erotic coaching session instead of a hooker? Sell it to your GF as a high class 50 shades type experience.
Club Astarte and its partner store Carmilla in tokyo offer this service. They have some top tier domiantrixes who appear in many JAV, and they do couple training sessions.
On their own Astarte is the side serving men, and Carmilla is the female only yuri SM club but some of their Doms cross over and work both. In tokyo its a bit more common for women to hire escorts and/or doms than in the west (and they are not bull dykes like western lesbians. Japanese women want hot women).

What about vegas? 1/5 of the women in that city will pretend to like you as a part of their job description. Enjoy it.

The autist that started this derail is fixated on the idea that a waitress or bunnygirl or cat maid or local stripper or wheoever the fuck it is must love the real him for him to ever have a good time so he will never, ever try. I suspect he is just afraid of women and thus his disdain for bunny clubs and cat maids and succubus joints and hot waitresses and big titty ladies serving beer at Oktoberfest and the cute girl at the mall who acts friendly when trying to sign you up for a credit card. Your new employer who set up this contract for you should have the basics covered and provide someone to act as a hosyo gaisha (a company that acts as a guarantor), and may even put you in contact with a realtor to find a place.

Are you employed by someone in Japan?
A rental property owner needs someone who can pay compensation on your behalf or sue you if you cause a problem. This needs to be a trustworthy company, organization, or individual in Japan that is covered by Japanese domestic law.
This rule also applies to Japanese who sign rental contracts. When signing a rental contract, unemployed Japanese designate their parents or siblings as guarantors.

pros:
-otaku girls cosplay on the side as a hobby
-get paid to sing karaoke, and free alcohol, and play video games on company time
-paid 3x or more than a regular waitress (regular waitress make zero dollars in tips. These girls can clear hundreds a night)
-customers are not allowed to touch you

Cons:
-Some of the customers may not be attractive millionaires
-have to meow at people who want to be meowed at

There isn't much work in japan for failed idols besides prostitution. This is good easy work in line with their skillset and hobbies.

I'm supposed to go back in exactly one month to Japan for my fifth trip, except my mom got a stroke last night, the second in less than a month because the fucking doctors wouldn't listen when we told them she had a first stroke. I'm fucking tired of everything, of having to take care of her since nearly 20 fucking years while the rest of my family doesn't give a shit. If I manage to go to Japan anyway, I'll be sure to absolutely do every stuff I've never done I want to do, be it degenerate or not.
Fuck my life.

Damn, just got back from 3 weeks in Japan.
Lot of fun. It was my first time. One thing I wish I knew was how many interesting things are crammed onto higher floors especially for night life. I’m so used to everything being basement, first floor or second floor in my country and going up to like the 4th or 7th floor at night would be considered trespassing or something.
I’m definitely going to brush up on reading Japanese and understanding more of how entering an elevator even at 2 AM to go to some place on the 7th floor as advertised on the street isn’t so taboo like it can be in the West

>>

Depends on the market. Omicho in Kanazawa was more focused towards selling ingredients, shitloads of fresh seafood up for sale there, but there's also sushi restaurants in the market that buy their fish from the stalls. Haven't been to Nishiki, but can't imagine it's much different.

>>2722642
As an American, that's because most restaurants serve one or two massive sides that's nothing but shitty fried food. French fries, tater tots, chips, etc. The fries with the burger are 2/3 the calories of an already 1k calorie burger. It's fucking insane. In Japan, the portions are actually reasonable so you aren't overeating.

I think you are talking about "baran". bento sold at convenience stores and supermarkets are separated from other side dishes by a baran to prevent the color, smell, taste, and moisture of the side dishes from mixing with other side dishes. Also, restaurants do not put baran in rice bowls. The accumulation of such small lies becomes a meme.

Your desire for racial hierarchy is typical of whites who are hated in Japan, and if you are living alone in Japan, that's one of the reasons why.

The easiest way to get there is to visit Nara, which is 30 minutes from Osaka (Namba station).
Further south are Mount Koya (34.2140,135.5850) and Yoshino (34.3764,135.8535), both of which can be reached by train.
I also recommend Arima Onsen (34.7990,135.2467).
Closer by is the museum (34.8128,135.5307), located on the site of the 1970 Expo. Transfer to the monorail at Senri Chuo (34.8076,135.4950). The monument (34.8094,135.5324) from 1970 remains intact.

Nishiki Market has always been a place where high-quality popular restaurants gather. However, it is not clear whether that high quality will suit your taste.
For example, whenever I visit Nishiki Market, I always eat herring soba. This is a popular dish that originated in feudal times and has a unique and simple taste. However, you probably won't find a restaurant in Nishiki Market that has a sign saying "Herring soba restaurant." I was introduced to this restaurant by a student from Kyoto University. From the outside, it is not clear what kind of food the restaurant serves.

>>
>>2722702
I'd be careful with Booking if you're doing connecting flights, if you can't find the same through Google then you may be getting shown separate tickets, meaning you have to collect your bags, clear customs and immigration (if you're "connecting" in a country that isn't your final destination), check back in, clear security again. If you misconnect due to delays on the first flight, the second one is canceled and you're SOL. Google can show those kinds of itineraries, but Google is very clear that they're separate tickets and have those risks.

The exceptions being two white-washed blacks raised in wealthy two parent homes in affluent areas, and two Hispanics (of actual Mexican nationality, not south American) who were intelligent enough to know how to behave and they also chose to be very careful with which other minorities they interacted with. I have heard that black AFRICANS are much different from the North American Pavement Ape and actually have varying levels of intelligence and impulse control, but then again theres a cult belief that raping babies cures aids. Some races I just don't believe in exceptions, I've never even HEARD of a decent jeet. I've known a lot of lying, cheating, violent middle easterners. Consider it more of a long term question. If I was going to aby large city in the US I probably wouldn't rent a car but ride share, but if it was at all longer I'd have to get a rental, and if I was living there it would be almost required. I guess I just wondered if that would be the case there, I know they HAVE cars obviously so then it must just be a luxury thing. Unless over time it becomes more necessary? How would I know if I haven't spent considerable time there or have an understanding of the auto culture? Do most people just carry their children around if they don't use public transportation? Google says cars are becoming much more common and if you're visiting you should absolutely rent a car, but i don't trust paid ads.

A lot of Asian countries have a minor subculture of the "the 2nd most developed part is angry at the most developed part"

I find it's often because the 2nd most developed part tends to have had a decent shot of becoming the most developed part or even the capital till some other factors (usually wherever foreigners decided to trade and/or rule from) became more important.

>yen going to shit
>rural areas dying
>shops opening shorter hours or closing forever
>"Bro let's gatekeep our country so all of those things accelerate even more"
Look, everyone hates tourists and I cannot say that I enjoy the hordes of chinese taking bad pictures in front of the birthplace of "famous composer X" here in yurop. But it creates jobs and people need to buy yen which will lift your economy up. It's a "born to shit forced to whipe" kind of situation where you just have to make the best out of it. Embrace the people and funnel them into certain areas that you can avoid as a native and just take pride in having a culture and way of life beloved by so many. The serving and hospitality industry keeps young people out of your social security system and in an alternate world where no one gave a shit about Japan you would lament over how you have to pay taxes to feed a gazillion neet pigs. Pic very related.

In the 1920s-30s, there was a point at which Osaka was going to eclipse Tokyo in population. The Osakans saw it as a symbol of their city's prosperity and planned all sorts of celebrations for the day it'd (statistically) happen. When that day came around, on that same date, Tokyo passed an ordinance to incorporate some of its surrounding municipalities into "Tokyo proper" and never ended up officially giving up the #1 seat.

AirBnb in Kyoto and then AirBnb in Tokyo. With 6/7 if you're lucky you'll find a place that beats hotel in both size and price when split amongst you. Exactly the same for me, the feeling goes back to playing (for me, Gold/Silver Crystal on GBC) and just being a kid going everywhere in a virtual world traveling where I want or doing stuff in a city and not worrying about anything.

> Day 4 Shinkansen or drive to Kagoshima / Sakurajima for music event
>Day 5 Drive Kagoshima to Nobeoka along Miyazaki coast line

Trying to work out this itinerary. Seems rough and I'd prefer to spend only 6 days in Kyushu. Maybe I'll hit Mifuneyama day 1, go to the event in Kagoshima on day 3 instead and move everything up one day so Miyazaki coast day 4, Takachiho, Mt Aso and Yufuin day 5, Yufuin back to Fukuoka and then Tokyo day 6

Anyone been to Mt Aso? is it really worth the trip? Any other suggestions? I'm pretty willing to move things around as long as I'm in Kagoshima day 3 or day 4.

I myself had a fun experience traveling to the Shimokita Peninsula in Aomori last year. I visited the Aviation Museum (40.7076, 141.3905), the Nuclear Fusion Research Facility (40.9509, 141.3256), the Closed Environment Research Center (40.9646, 141.3593), and the exhibition of the reactor of the only nuclear-powered ship manufactured in Japan (41.3639, 141.2363).
It's your interests that make a fun trip. Design your trip according to your interests.

Lads where the fuck do I go in Japan just to have some drinks and chill with people who are not 60 years old?

So far it seems that my options are to go to a standing izakaya place and have to constantly chat to old tired salarymen, or go to a place like Shibuya and meet the retarded horny foreigners drinking on the streets there. I just want to go to a casual bar with people in their 20s. Do places like that even exist?
>>

The HUB or western style pubs.
Or smaller club style places or actual Japanese bars where they only serve liquor, but you’ll most likely run into groups of young Japanese friends who probably don’t want to talk to you

Is there a big difference between the suica app and suica as a transit pass through your android/apple wallet?
>>
>>2724278
Pretty expensive. It's something like 200-300 yen per 30 minutes compared to 200-300 yen per 24 hours in the countryside.
>>
>>2724285
Physical vs digital
Also I don’t think you can get suica on Android unless you bought your Android phone in Japan
That being said, I had no issues using a physical card and putting it in my wallet, most suica readers could read the card through my wallet so I didn’t even need to pull it out. But you do need to load physical Suica cards with physical yen
>>
Just came here to say that when I was in Tokyo my shitty 500 yen umbrella got ripped to shit during a freak gust of wind. Having no place to put it (because nips are retarded and don't believe in rubbish bins) I tossed it into one of those soft drink bins next to a vending machine. They're lucky I didn't throw it into a bush.
>>
>>2724287
Sorry, let me clarify, I meant like the wallet app on your apple device/whatever android has to keep your digital credit/debit cards.
Like is there a substantial difference between the suica app and a digital suica card? I assume they’re pretty much the same thing?
Speaking of physical, are they giving them out in the airport or do they still have the chip shortage? Last time i went i got the welcome suica but not the normal green one

Gentlemen, I have a fucking train question and I will kms for it don't worry: Nikko Pass says Tobu express from Asakusa is O.K. but LIMITED express isn't. Google just shows "express railway" so how do you determine wether the train is limited or not? Is it just shown on the destination board like "dep 17:40 exp - LTD" or are they distinct kinds of trains taking different routes? I want to actually /trv/ and not just see the konbini in Ueno so please spoonfeed me like the baby I am.
>>
>>2724301
Honestly? Just buy the train that is going to your destination from the train station and go for the ride unless you have some sort of deadline. I took a local train from Nagoya to Osaka and it was fucking awesome, compared to taking a bullet

That is some good advice but in this case it seems like the express isn't some super high speed train and more like a "direct line with less stops" kind of thing that takes all in all the same amount of time minus switching trains at Minami (one is 3h the other is 2 1/2). But I will steal the idea of doing some local trains around Nagoya.

Korean modern culture is extremely popular on the other hand. Even if that doesn't appeal to you, there is still great food and great nightlife/party places, which to me are enough to justify a trip to Korea if you're around that part of the world.

There are many national museums and art galleries in Ueno Park. Please visit them first.
There are almost no old buildings left in Tokyo. They were all burned down in air raids. Many art galleries in Tokyo collect modern and contemporary art.
For traditional art, we recommend visiting the national museums in Kyoto and Nara.

We recommend Fukagawa Edo Museum (35.6812, 139.8006) and
https://www.city.koto.lg.jp/spot/shiryokan.html
Urayasu City Local History Museum (35.6550, 139.9010). Although small, it has a restored traditional streetscape.

>What’s parking like in the major cities?
Same as anywhere, expensive.

> I’m looking to rent a car next time I visit
Go for it, but I don't recommend using, say, Tokyo or Osaka as your sole base in that case. Driving in any city isn't a fun experience. I rented in both Nagano and Hachinohe, Nagano to drive to Togakushi, Akakura Onsen, and Lake Nojiri, and from Hachinohe to Lake Towada because I fucked up and missed the last bus of the day. Driving's easy enough, it's not hard getting used to driving on the left. One big thing to note that I missed the first time I drove, in rural areas there may not be vertical stop signs, just a line at the intersection with 止まれ written on the asphalt. That's also a stop sign.

As far as renting itself, not sure what the process is for other countries but in the US, you'll go to a AAA location and get an international driver's license. Obviously you must already have a valid US driver's license for this. It's basically just a translation of your US license into Japanese so Japanese authorities and rental agencies can read it. I rented from Toyota both times, got a midsize sedan first time and a small hatchback the second time. Cars were great, and rates were inexpensive.

Sumida Hokusai museum for the classic Japanese art, but I'm not sure where else for other artists/general collections. Tokyo has some neat architecture all over, the Asahi golden poop in Sumida, the cocoon building in Shinjuku, just to name a few. Yokohama also has a lot of cool buildings, and Nikko's shrines and temples are a great visit both for the incredibly intricate construction of the buildings themselves and the decorations, and for history since it has the mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu.

just check the forecast for foliage (or find an english website that makes it easy and lists the best spots)

obviously you can do the same sightseeing as at any other time of the year. i don't think it will be much less busy - it is a good time of the year for comfortable weather, but what do i know

other November specific ideas from my notes

Tokyo -

3rd Nov is Culture Day, a public holiday where some museums are opened for free entry for the day (National Museum, Museum of Western Art, both in Tokyo Ueno park, idk others check it yourself)

Meiji-Jingu autumn festival 1st Nov - 3rd Nov. Has Yabusame (horseback archery) on 3rd Nov

from 3rd-11th nov (depending on which observation deck you go to for the angle) you can see "Diamond Fuji" which is when the sun sets directly over mt. fuji

mt. takao autumn festival

Kyoto -

ruriko-in temple bookings for this autumns viewing period start in a couple of days (21st Oct I think, I'm skipping it)

Many temples have events when they open at night and light up with the foliage. not extensive list: Kiyomizu Dera, Eikando,

Reikan-ji Temple - a small temple that is only open during the first two weeks of April and the last two weeks of November

That's very wrong, it's the other way around. Spanish don't even make an effort to try to understand Portuguese even on phrases that are virtually the same, i.e,

Not sure, Spain usually had dubs for everything so they don't make an effort to learn another language, even in a corporate environment I don't think they make an effort to use English.
Portugal on the other hand uses subs and English is more common overall so everyone gets exposure very early. One of the reasons the 80's/90's generation understands so much of Spanish is because back then cable TV here used to show Cartoons dubbed in Spanish.
