What's the appeal of China? Japan and South Korea are a billion times safer destinations in East Asia (I can attest for Japan at least, Korea seems like a watered down Japan). The only thing I can think is visit a Shaolin Monastery or going to a Panda research center, like Chengdu.But it would probably be overcrowded too.
