We 're high. Discuss Thailand travel here.
>>
First for being a boring avoidant loser.
>>
>>2733169
Is a budget of $2000/month enough to spend about a month in Chiang Mai/Northern Thailand, two weeks each in Pattaya and BKK, and a month in a nice bungalow on a nice island(s)? And spending time doing actual tourist activities like motorbike touring, scuba classes, tours, eating nice food, private tutoring lessons, dating girls, etc? Or will I quickly be relegated to wander dirt roads in the tropical heat like Slumdork Millionaire/?
>>
>>2733169
What is the Slumdork Millionaire's plans for Loi Krathong?

>>2733189
Does the $2000 include accommodation/accoomodation? If so you might have to go to cheap motels if you want to do tourist activities and tutoring etc on top
>>
This is Thailand before 7-Eleven and mass tourism...it's peaceful here. They even have a neighborhood public restroom.

Gay dude who works at my hotel offered poppers and dick.
>>
>>2733189
That's triple my spend, of course it's enough to enjoy luxuries.
>>
>>2733271
Dude, if I wanted to walk down dirt back alleys with shitty buildings with haphazardly built additions and poverty I can do that in my shit kick western US desert hometown. The locals will also smile at me sometimes, through a meth toothed grin. Why travel around the world to see this? It's depressing to look at
>>
>>2733271
I bet you could find a near identical setting in Florida, just with more N's
>>
Damn. A couple raw Thai chilis in the morning is the best way I've found so far to just clear out my sinuses and throat.
>>
>>2733298
Where you see shitty buildings and poverty, I see people who live free of involvement with globohomo. They build their own houses and raise happy families, exchanging goods and services with their neighbors. Living here isn't depressing at all, unlike corporate wagie droneville suburbia. There's a huge park right next to the neighborhood with a lovely tree-shaded walking track. Unlike American poors, both people and dogs are very well-behaved here. My room in a neighborhood motel has a quartet of playful young cats who are always goofing around. So curious and yet so easily spooked. I can sit on my porch for hours watching them.
>>2733264
>Loi Krathong
Ah, that must be what all the festival setup is going on for in Kanchanapisek Park.
>>
>>2733314
If I understand your Slumbodian predilections, you will get much enjoyment from buying a float, putting it on the water and enjoying the festivities. I found Loi Krathong to have much more SOVL than Songkran which is basically mardi gras + water guns
>>
New affordable housing spotted. Aran is really cementing itself as one of the best poorfag destinations in Thailand. This is less than $60/month at the current exchange rate. All of these are decent & respectable places too, nothing like the horrid ghetto flophouses of America. Twice-daily train to Bangkok takes 5 hours, and there are plenty of buses to Pattaya as well.
>>
It really is enjoyable to smoke some 50 baht / gram vintage schwag. Remember how weed used to be so euphoric and dreamy in the old days? You could put on some mellow tunes and watch the kitties play as the day fades, pour yourself a cold beer and everything is all right. Thankfully these "low-value" strains still exist in arcane corners of the weed universe, they haven't all been purged from the market by 29% THC Orange Diesel Chem Psycho mutant strains, which fuck up your mind and get you hooked.

Remember when steaks used to have meat on the bone? This thing was nearly paper thin and the "fried potatoes" ended up being mostly some greasy onion rings.
I found an ok massage place though for only 200/hour.

Pratamnak feels much more relaxed, it's more green and beautiful of an area. Seems like less beach and more greenery. But there is beach too. So I guess it's just more green. And very Russian.

There are so many Russians here. I checked out several gyms in the area and the "huge" black guys i I saw before were fucking boy scouts compared to the mass monster freak beasts of roided up Russians I've seen. Jesus Christ these guys are like the level of competing bodybuilder huge.

Sings everywhere have a very strong slant toward Russian as well. Many places may have signs in Russian, Thai, maybe Chinese, but then don't even bother with English. The Russian kid dodging from pattaya has hit new levels here. Literally dodging them because little kids just running around and playing all over the place. On sidewalks. In the street.
>>
There's an Uzbek restaurant that was playing Uzbek music videos. It actually seemed weird. This entire area. I'm around men. There's a masculinity feeling that doesn't come with Thai places in general. It feels weird being around men or young guys with beards. I got a bit of this feeling around the Arab part of nana too, but it's come back.

A Thai commercial came on and so it cut to some ladyboy looking guy. No hint of facial hair. Sort of a wasp look. Not really a ladyboy, but what I guess is really the appearances standard for Thai men. Light as possible skin, absolutely hairless face without even a hint of stubble, kind of stupid looking hair like a mormon or something, about zero muscle mass. Then what seemed to be japanese guys came on. Japanese sounding language and curtain hair, skinny (little muscley), toys that were young men. This was such a stark contrast to I've been seeing on that Uzbek television.

Later I saw Thai guys in a fighting gym with tree trunks for legs and passed some Soi and seeing one high kicking leaves from some bush that was higher than his head. So whatever the fuck I don't know. The dichotomy of Thai. Rough looking fighters and qt traps.

The festival had a huge turnout last night, with a good number of Cambodians joining in as well. You'd never know Thailand has a demographic crisis by the preponderance of youths and parents in attendance. Sadly, the food vendors served lousy fair food. Not an herb or veggie in sight; the two flavor options were mayo and ketchup. Man was the park trashed this morning.

only places i would consider staying in a hostel at are places where poor tourists don’t frequent (i.e. obscure places in japan). a hostel in bkk sounds hellish

the cheapest guesthouses are 500b already. there’s a cheap room near ekkamai bus station that goes for around 400b.
unless you are a poverty level tourist or want to hook up with other backpackers no reason to go hostel
>>
Bkk hostels 15 years ago were pretty cool. Good memories.
Doubt it now though. Bangkok doesn't have so many obvious kind of weirdo tourists and trekkie backpackers staying in hostels and doing pub crawls. Now when I pass by hostels I don't notice obvious groups of white backpacker types. I seem to see many old indians instead lmao

How is transport in the Bangkok? For example there is a cheap hotel to book in Ramkhamhaeng Rd - how to get fast from it to city centre - by metro?
Would you say Bangkok is good travel destination and base to see temples and cities close to or is it too big and too populated city to get anywhere from it?
Going from Bangkok to Pattaya by train to coom for few days - is it good idea?
Or is Chiang Mai better idea?

Most people prefer taking the bus to Pattaya. Train service is limited to one a day in each direction, and the station is a good walk from the tourist areas.

Looks like you can take the metro, the bus, or even a canal ferry to Pratunam from Bang Kapi. That area of Bangkok has a reputation for curt mannerisms, something to be aware of before you go. Traffic can also be oppressively heavy.

Christ I can't believe it finally let me post and doesn't think I'm spam.

Some ugly bitch also acted like she was revolted at the sight of me and tried to ignore me and act like she couldn't understand a word I say and would just act cunty when I spoke her fussy tonal language. Tried to order some fried curry seafood and ended up with fried rice instead. At least some nice woman in the kitchen helped me get that far. First time this has happened in quite a while. Usually the restaurant people understand me just fine and it's a dish I order frequently and it seems awfully difficult to make pad preek gaeng unintelligible.
Suck. My. Dick.
Thank you to the helpful woman in the kitchen who bypassed the cunt.

Is riding around on a scooter in Thailand the death sentence that Redditors would have you believe? As a first timer to two-wheeled motor vehicles, could I go to a parking lot and teach myself how to ride?

Also, I have no motorcycle license at home (USA), will I get busted and get sued for millions if I get into an accident? I read that since I'm not legally riding, I would be liable for everything.
>>
>>2733720
Yes, it's pretty fucking dangerous, especially if you have no experience, heard so many horror stories while living there I lost count. And as far as I know insurance companies won't cover your bills if you get into an accident while driving without a license, maybe american ones are different in that regard, no idea. Just get a fucking license.

.)You severely overestimate the importance of sex tourism to the region. It's entirely irrelevant to the vast majority of Thais
And you severely misinterpret the context of anyone talking to you so you can reinterpret it in a way that makes you correct because of your megalomania

To anyone who read my comment, it’s clearly that it had nothing to do with the importance of sex tourism to Thailand economy, but with the inalienable and fixed perception, as a sex pest, that lone white men are perceived with.

Anyone with reading comprehension understands that I made my comment in response to you reporting that were treated rudely by the ugly Thai woman. This is because she perceives you as a dirty sex tourist. Thais will openly be rude to foreigners as a form of impotent peasant resistance because they’re powerless to do anything else.

I went to get a minibus ticket by central festival and the woman attendant scowled at me and refused to interact with me. She was pregnant, and so my infiltration of her country, culture, society, and fellow women was probably heightened as she carried the future thai generation in her womb. The moral gravity of her bodily function directly juxtaposing my vile hedonic one as I buy the mothers, sisters, and daughters she calls her fellow countrywomen

Thanks.

Travel around more, and maybe you wouldn't be so confidently ignorant of the entire country beyond your sad, degraded coomer ghetto. I've experienced so much kindness and consideration from Thais on this trip. Moved to a village today 60 km from the border crossing.

Out of 200+ food purchases, I've crunched on grit about three or four times. Mild gastric disturbance happens regularly due to mixing of incompatible foods. Cake and sausage, fish and fruit. Only one purchase, some barbecued skewers of red-colored blubber, was deemed unfit for consumption.

The meal in the last pic cost 150 baht.

Why do Amerifats always complain about small portions at restaurants? The streets and markets are full of tasty snacks. Who in their right mind would want a meal so huge that you can't enjoy something afterwards?
>>2734045
Yes, it is a challenge at times, particularly in parts of the country where people have zero experience whatsoever in dealing with foreigners. Sometimes a question asked via translate gets a flurry of speculation among locals, yet no answer materializes. Patience and forbearance are key. Country people are slow-witted, so don't get mad when encountering difficulties.
>>2734081
Yeah, so terrible to live in a peaceful, walkable small town with a brand-new lakefront walking path half a kilometer away...so new it's not even on Google Maps yet. So terrible to listen to birds singing and breathe fresh country air in the early morning hours. So terrible to pay $11.50/night for a neat little cabin on a quiet one-lane street, where I can chill on my porch in the evening hours. So terrible to encounter smiles and greetings when I'm out and about in town, people coming up and asking if they can help me with anything. I'd so much rather be in some noisy, unfriendly tourist ghetto like Pattaya.

I am going to assume you're not being rhetorical. I enjoy your posts, so please do not interpret this as a provocation for another inarguable chud-debate, and simply see it as an explanation.

>Why do Amerifats always complain about small portions at restaurants?
I am used to having meal portions in the 500-800 calorie range, depending on the time of day, and how much physical activity I have done.

The photo of the fried rice above is maybe 0.20 cups of rice (140 cal) plus oil (200 cal). I could see that as an ok snack, but I do not like consuming oil, butter, or sugar. A more ideal amount of food would be 1 cup of uncooked rice which contains ~700 calories, and some tofu, greens, tomatoes, etc. which are arguably negligible in calories. After choosing to eat all, or almost all of this, I feel charged, but also clean. It's comfy, and I can carry on with my day.

One time I ate probably 2000 calories in a school buffet. It was epiphanic. For a full 24 hours, I didn't eat anything else, I was productive, I slept, and I didn't think about food at all. I drove home that concept that we are inextricably like batteries, needing recharging.

Anyway, in most restaurants, where I am paying an inflated price for food, sometimes 10-50x, I want to receive a meaningful amount of food. It's a respectful thing to do - imagine paying $20 for a bowl of fried rice. Maybe you wouldn't, but I immediately consider the restaurant's profit margins on this dish (1000%), and feel upset from their greed. Quality and quantity are factors for me. They are mutually inclusive.

>The streets and markets are full of tasty snacks. Who in their right mind would want a meal so huge that you can't enjoy something afterwards?
Lot's of tasty snacks can be a great thing, but taking your time, and enjoying a single large dish is nice too. I think this is a reasonable perspective.

There are many ways to manifest a diet, I hope this was insightful for you.

Tough to judge quantity at first glance. Sounds like you were skimped, even for 50 baht the serving should be upwards of 500 calories. My dishes always greasy as hell with a puddle of oil on the plate under the rice. Seems unavoidable with stir fry. Of course, you can get a salad to go low-fat. I've been wanting to try a beef laab.

Is it worth it to learn as much thai as I can just for 2-3 weeks in Thaïland, especially i'm there for stooodying ?
>>
>>2734505
Imo, Thai works against you if you just want to studymaxx. If you want to build fwb type of relationships over longer trip durations, it helps.

Learning Thai has the potential to make the relationships you form more personal and intimate in my experience. This can lead to clinginess, invitations to Thai-centric venues and environments,
and you might be in over your head. Therefore, for a two-week pump n dump scheme, I would recommend playing naive. Learn Thai for your own intellectual interest but don’t reveal you know it

How to deal with Thai street dogs? In smaller villages, dogs will frequently harass strangers, barking and advancing. Usually, the pack leader initiates it. Don't respond like a fearful man and go berserk. That'll get them all excited, finally they can LARP as defenders of the village lunging and snarling at the bad man. Instead, maintain your stride and say demeaning things. "You useless shiteaters, get the fuck out of here."

Dogs will always circle in behind you to catch your scent, but if one seems to be closing in for a nip, as pack leaders sometimes do to prove their bravery, pivot around and stop it in its tracks with a firm command. "SIT", "BACK", or "HEY". Then keep on walking. Once the pack leader is checked, all the other dogs will slink away as well.

Apart from the sneed oil (used sparingly here), every ingredient in this meal came from local producers. Eat what you grow, grow what you eat. No corporate involvement at any stage. And whaddaya know, it'd downright affordable to eat great food when you don't have to contribute to CEO bonuses, marketing budgets, and legions of white-collar corporate office drones every time you want to fill ya belly.
>>
>>2734583
Ok now compare actual purchasing power.
If poorfag Americans still make like 5x what thais do, then 5x the price of those meals for something you can get in a poorfag place in America.
>local Thai meal costs about 2 dollars
>translate to about 10 dollars for somewhere in murrica
>street slop little meal made on the side of the road for $10
You can find that in America just about anywhere.
It seems cheap to you because you're a tourist. It's not that cheap relatively for thais. One thing I took note of from traveling many places quickly was how cheap America's cost of living to income is.

>street slop $10 (or even a bit cheaper)
>and it's made in likely more sanitary conditions than the Thai street food surrounded by rats
>incomes for smart people routinely 200k+ USD even for higher tier newgrads
>>
>>2734583
>90% rice sprinkled with giblets of meat and greens
I figured out quickly from regularly ordering from Thai restaurant off food panda that it’s absolutely worth it to go from 60 baht for your majority rice plate for a la carte meat for 120ish
>>
>>2734590
A 60 baht meal like the last pic, made to order at a sit-down restaurant, that's mid-tier in Thailand. Poor people eat the market vendor meals in plastic boxes or bags that sell for 20-40 baht.
>you can find that in America just about anywhere
Yeah, show me where for $10 or $12 in rural America you can get someone to cook you a meal with half a dozen different veggies, savory ginger sauce and fresh fish. LOL nope, it's not happening. A McFranchise sandwich with a couple slices of iceberg lettuce is about all you can hope for. Only the Mexicanized parts of the USA have plentiful cheap eats sourced from local ingredients, and that is a recent phenomenon.
>how cheap America's cost of living to income is
It's true you can live and travel for surprisingly little money in America. However, the American economy prioritizes the desires of the affluent over basic human needs; profit margins are padded by the wealthy consumers paying a hefty premium for the luxuries they crave. Vast public expenditures are necessary in America for the simple reason that the economy does not provide for the needs of poor people. Whereas here in everyday Thailand, most of the economy caters to basic human needs. Money goes in and out of the pockets of average people as they share their resources with each other, instead of always being funneled through corporations and government.
>>
>>2734620
So go to literally any southeast Asian neighborhood. You'll even find much if what you're eating around SEA in there. Except the Thai food will likely be shitty. Bad flavors for you falang faggots who can't eat real Thai food. Like you with your baby amounts of chili. Faggot.

>Whereas here in everyday Thailand, most of the economy caters to basic human needs. Blah blah blah
They suck dick for money. Are they really that well off?
>>
>>2734620
>Yeah, show me where for $10 or $12 in rural America you can get someone to cook you a meal with half a dozen different veggies, savory ginger sauce and fresh fish

was still possible a few years ago but now, fuck no; its doubled + 20% tip + somehow worse attitudes and still half as good as thai food. which is why i cook at home for all my meals.
>>
>>2734642
>They suck dick for money. Are they really that well off?
yes, sucking dick garners as much income as working professionals - they support entire branches of family.
>>
>>2734646
>Are they really that well off?
more a case of lacking the same social mobility found in say the usa. but good news, as you may have noticed the degradation on that front, you can wave to thais on the way down on their way up.
>sucking dick garners as much income as working professionals
fyi, its just as profitable in the usa. the problem is sustainability. even before OF working girls could clock six figures.

No, don't worry about it. Every farang chasing thai woman does this. I used to live in thailand and and was hit with this bullshit all the time. It's such a tired playbook move that I'm amazed they still try it.

They just want money. That's all. Thai women lie as easily as they breathe or eat. The calculation in her mind is only this:
>will my lie get me money from the farang?
and the answer is always "maybe", so of course they lie, because they have nothing to lose.

After a few years of traveling in Asia I adopted a fake name and fake social media to prevent people like this from disrupting my life and family where I am from.

Yo Insecurity Guard, did you get your fill of "experiencing" Thailand by exploring different regions and normal backpacker shit? Or did you just go straight to tutoring? Do you have any regrets about how you spent your time, aside from the existential dread it brought you by staring into the abyss (aka a TTT's butthole) too long?

I ask because I initially only wanted to go for the tutoring, but now I'm realizing Thailand is actually a beautiful gem of a country, and I'd be a fool to not spend some time seeing it. But that would drastically cut into my tutoring budget, money and timewise, because it seems like tutoring is limited to a handful of very small geographic areas that I'm not terribly interested in spending much time in.

3k usd a week is 90k thb

Freelancers in Pattaya do short time for 2k-3k.

She would have to find 45 customers a week, around 6 a day.

Working 12 hours a day that means one customer ever 2 hours, 7 days a week.

That's just not possible and not how much they work. Typical freelancers will have 1 or 2 customers a day, then fuck around and waste their money on cigarettes grilled pork and shopping, until they need to fuck for money again. Their family nags them for money and they send them like 5k thb, which goes far in the province.

They constantly struggle with rent money despite living in 12k-15k month condos, and have problems making ends meet to the point where they throw on the towel and go work in a bar for guaranteed salary and potential extra.

Apartment brothel whores on fiwfans charge 1k - 1.5k for a fuck, and maybe have 2 or 3 customers per day, to maintain their health. Some girls will do as many customers as possible, but even then it's 5 or 6 max till their pussy can't take it.
>>
>>2734725
No they don't. Eastern European whores on yachts make like 1k a week after their management takes half. They are not nearly as well paid as you think.

Dubai Porta potty thing is extreme edge case and not a regular thing that happens. It's a situation where a mega rich perv offers exorbitant amounts to a woman he desires till she can't say no.

The last time I was in Thailand, I skipped Pai because people said how touristy it is and how it didn’t live up to the hype.

This time I’m traveling for longer and I decided to give it a chance. It’s absolutely beautiful, don’t get me wrong. I love the nature and beauty surrounding the entire town.

But.

I’ve been here for one day and it’s honestly way too inauthentic and full of early 20s kids riding around on scooters. I’m not trying to sound old and bitter, I just planned on 5-6 nights here and want to leave after my second.

Has anyone else felt this way? If so where did you go after? Just spent 6 nights in Chiang Mai and love it there but considering going to Mae Hong Son or making my way down to Kanchanaburi. Just looking for a more chill vibe in nature but with real Thai culture instead of only catering to tourists.

I booked a flight to Thailand for a bit over 3 weeks in February. Mainly to avoid the shitty cold weather. The problem is that I don't know what to do other than to get high and drunk on the beach and go partying and try and hook up with a hot ladyboy so we can go on a date at the beach getting drunk and high and also rent a super sport bike for a day or two. I want to ride an liter bike with 4 cylinders that redline at 14000rpm so a gixxer will do. maybe find a track and do some laps. So other than riding motorcycles getting drunk and high on the beach and going on dates with hot passing ladyboys I don't know what else to do.

>did you get your fill of experiencing
I did a 4 week TEFL class and we went to an elementary school, some kind of school ran by monks on the outskirts of Bangkok, and an elementary school. I’ve also been to ayuttaya (spelled wrong), chiang mai, and uhhh rayong on an excursion with a qt. Ditto with koh larn. I’ve been to Thai clubs several times. It was endearing but I can’t be consumed by staring at temple ruins etc and it was all just underwhelming. That’s just me though

The only way I can see traveling around to places like buri ram, Sisaket, or wherever, and it being a redeeming experience, is if you went with a friend(s) and could speak enough Thai + quick with translators to fuck a random girl at a club who was throwing herself at you.

Failing that, go with a girl who can do all the social and speech heavy lifting. Traveling
>existential dread
Is only related to the finiteness of your budget. If you gave me millions of dollars I’d just do exactly the same thing in pattaya except in a villa with a harem and just use the money to buy higher tier social experiences. The longer you stay, the higher the likelihood you’ll meet more people and encounter girls where you GENUINELY have chemistry that will make you feel butterflies when you’re with them or stare into their eyes and envision them pregnant with your child (yes I’m serious).

Do your backpacker bs first it you have any interest at all because you’ll get sucked into the tutoring scene like a black hole if you do that first. Only you can determine by your own proclivities if you would be enthused to travel around. I get immense pleasure from getting everything I need with as little caloric expenditure as possible. Sitting on my ass just being able to disassociate and think is my favorite state of being. I’m a simple man. I’m also half head so yea

An observation. Late 20s-30s passport bros with their Thai girlfriends. Seeing them more and more now. You know the type, some overcompensating little manlet or badly dressed scrawny lanklet, all over their thai gf in public.

I saw one guy on a boat to one of the islands recently. His gf stood up to take some pics and he immediately followed her across the deck, starting doing the Titanic movie thing then was playing with her hair, kissing her hands all kinds of other pathetic lame shit. Surrounded by people, he would not put her down the whole journey. She looked awkward as fuck and you could tell locals were disgusted. Yes bro, we know you were a virgin till you were fucking 35 but control yourself man. Zero self awareness, especially in a country that frowns on public displays of affection. Considering you couldn’t help but mention studying despite trying to maintain the veneer of a real traveler with that little train gimmick, just pack up your pecker and pick a path to pattaya

How do I find tutors in BKK whose expertise is greek epic poetry?

Funny, Agoda's UI is pretty bad and annoying to me (constantly opens new tabs, plastered with fake "BUY NOW, LIMITED TIME ONLY" prices everywhere, pries aren't displayed in full by default, bad color scheme, plus I have to get a one time password from my email everytime I want to look at my bookings)

I wanted to take the sleeper train to Chiang Mai but it's comepltely booked out, now I'm thinking of skipping Chiang Mai completely and going to either Issan or Kanchanaburi via train. Don't really want to fly. Thoughts?

i have booked actually 2 places in BKK and i have to cancel one of it, still not sure which one.
Nana Hotel Sukhumvit 4
https://www.nanahotel.co.th
And this one
https://house-of-happiness.bangkokshotels.com

So advantages of first one is location: in strict heart of things but this also may be disadvantage because it may be really loud entire night and i may have trouble falling asleep in standard room because of all the noise. Also other coomers in rooms adjacent.
Advantages of second one: location, because it's quiet, more "traditional thai" location, so no problem with sleep.
Disadvantage: quite far from heart of things, it's at Khlong Sarn. I would probably need to take ferry or metro every day for studying. Anyone can tell me - how problematic is transport from Khlong Sarn to any other part of BKK, especially Sukhumvit or Khaosan Road?
Are both these hotels guest-friendly?

Some other anon mentioned cheap rooms off Ramkhamhaeng Road in Bang Kapi. For 400 baht this room at M.D. Rose Apartments is nice, smells all right and not too noisy. It's got a balcony for weed smoking. Bang Kapi District is very crowded and gritty. Almost Metro Manila tier. Tons of cheap food along narrow & busy Soi 50. No smiles, greetings, courtesies or compliments necessary 'round here. Furrowed brows and signs of stress are rampant. Fine by me, I've had my fill of friendliness and curiosity in the provinces.

After seven months of usage, my duffel bag abruptly ripped apart today. The Puma daypack on the other hand seems indestructible, even when stuffed to the limit.

No it's not. I did all that normie stuff my first time in Thailand and was also alone. I did a jungle trek + elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai and ended up in a group containing: 2 solo male travelers (me included), 3 solo female travelers and 1 couple (but they were just friends). Your best bet is Southern Hemisphere countries that are self-sufficient in food. Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, mayyyybe South Africa if you are armed and ready for SHTF, although that would be my least recommended destination out of all these.

Anywhere north of the Equator is gonna be fucked up by fallout, with reduced sunlight leading to crop failures for at least the three years following a nuclear exchange. Anywhere that is a net food importer is fucked, and that includes small islands because trade networks are going to break down.

The awkwardness of quick interactions with random people doesn't bother me, even less if they're foreign and dont speak english. Being forced into a scenario where I'm supposed to become "short term friends" with random people by making small talk and asking them questions about myself bothers me, because they quickly realize I'm a genuinely autistic and don't care about talking to them 95% of the time, and then we're forced to grapple with this existential dilemma for the remaining duration of whatever activity has us in close proximity to each other. I would prefer to just walk solo through forest or whatever, but that would limit me to semi rural or urban adjacent areas, not massive, stunning mountains

Walk several hours a day for exercise and to enhance appetite. Walk along a bus route and then take the bus back. Take your time enjoying every meal. The greater your appetite, the more you'll enjoy traipsing around for hours seeing what the streets have to offer. Sadly, sub-par food can seriously degrade your appetite and metabolism until your body repairs the gut damage. Chokchai 4 with its pristine pavements is aesthetically similar to New Taipei City. 1.9 km walk from the Yellow Line into an upper middle class neighborhood, thankfully temps and humidity have been as mild as they get in Bangkok. This is something I noticed too. I talked to a nonthai restaurant worker when I first got here and he was saying he gets paid 800 dollars per month. Doesn't pay rent, visa taken care of. Factoring in he DOESNT PAY RENT and GETS TO LIVE IN THAILAND I was very disheartened to think back to my times of working for minimum wage in the US, paying for a room in a house, and having to live in that solitary prison. Just got back from a couple weeks in Bangkok and Samui on business.

Visiting and exploring Bangkok was an interesting experience but Ko Samui is where I could definitely see myself spending more time, particularly since I have friends/colleagues living there. Less pollution and congestion, nicer weather, great food, scenery, purportedly safer, etc.

Pretty easy to get around despite not knowing Thai but I feel like the experience would be richer and more respectful to the locals if I learned it.

Kinda regret that the beef is generally trash in Thailand since it's most of my diet in the USA, but the other food mostly makes up for it.

The travel to/from was alright however long, but the TSA checkpoint was easily the worst part about the return trip.

Still want to visit Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Udon Thani some day.

Ever gone way off the beaten track to sketchy, run down suburbs of smaller Thai cities? I'm becoming more intrigued by the prospect of this. Bangkok I've always just stayed in npc areas as I'm usually just passing through.

One thing you notice immediately when you leave tourist zones is that the "land of smiles" is a total nonsense. I sat in a packed local restaurant/desert place one Friday night in a lesser known town and despite being the only farang, 6'3 and white and sticking out like a sore thumb, I've never felt so invisible in my life. It was fantastic, actually. Locals couldn't give the slightest fuck that a "white God" was in their presence. Exactly as it should be. Thais are nearly always polite but that's just conformist face culture. Its good to get away from all the fake sawatdee kaaaaaaa bullshit

>no sense of style
Not asking to eurofagmax just have some style
>try to get bargains for everything while Asians are always willing to splash the cash
I support not spending money frivolously but obviously Asians turn their nose up at this attitude. To Asians it means you’re a broke faggot chumscrubber.
>loud bellowing faggot demeanor that is jarring and repulsive to Asian social decorum of grace, politeness, subtlety, and quiet dignity
It’s literally disgusting to see Anglo’s thrashing around and bellowing and chortling at max human volume in Thailand. I don’t care if you’re having a good time do it more quietly you fucking faggots. Show some modicum of respect for the culture of the country you inhabit.
>whites demand the truth and will PROBE for it while Thai culture values face, smooth social interaction, over the truth, even if it’s potentially detrimental
Western men demand annoying and confrontational PROBING for the truth, for the correctness, etc. I’ve seen dudes have meltdowns because their “Teerak” pulled a “sleight of vagina” on them and they don’t realize that no fucks are given in Thailand.

In short, stop being a big dumb loud bellowing smelly unkempt undignified faggot smashing and crashing through these countries and literally just have poise, quiet dignity, smile, and wear a polo and slacks. Omg the horror.

Hispanics are much worse than Anglos for being loud and speaking a mile a minute. Thankfully few of them bother to come here.

The part about being cheap is not relevant to Thailand, because this country offers a huge selection of low-cost options. It's absurd to say that Thais look down on a foreigner for buying a 10 baht banana muffin at the market. Extra business is always appreciated. These people are constantly doing business with their neighbors, so your infusions of cash into the marketplace end up benefiting everyone.
>>2736279
Nothing sketchy about the outskirts of smaller cities. People will be curious what brings you to their boring neighborhood. Many rural Thais feel very insecure around a white person and will try to avoid engaging with you. Others are more at ease and may try their English out. The only places I encountered a "why the hell are you even here?" attitude were those small villages which offered nothing to an outsider. No restaurants, no lodging, nothing.

You've gotta learn how to read dog behavior and respond properly, with calmness and firmness. Subsequent times you pass by, they won't bark at you. I've had pretty good luck over the past few weeks, but walking along a canal path in Bangkok last night three dogs lunged out of a doorway at me with aggressive intentions. I had to smash an ashtray at their feet to send them scampering away.
