The revered Japanese are fellow aryans and Honorary Whites. Progenitors of Anime and good videogames. I take advantage of the weak yen and spend the gaijin tax happily. I love when a salaryman oogled my wife I feel a sense of pride when these divine celestial beings almost elf like without a single flaw can enact such judgment and acknowledgement onto myself I feel privileged to be within the same opalescent cleanly space as the Japanese. I’m about to embark on my first expatriate journey and pursue a career as a Scribesmen for the Nintendo Museum but first I must achieve japanese N1-5 study course with expedient marks.

>>
>>2743135
It has a decent red light districts, and the women in Susukino were pretty attractive. It's most kino when it snows and if you snowboard. Sapporo soup curry and miso ramen are also good. The only pain is how out of the way it can be, so flying there is better than the train unless you want to make stops on the way there like Hakodate.

Semi-frequent lurker here, was wondering how easy it is to get hotels/hotel rooms in rural areas, or well, in non-massive cities. I'll book something for the big cities like Tokyo, but when I'm roaming around I'd like to have a bit of freedom as to where I want to go. Are prices absurdly high? Should I book a day or two in advance if I really don't want to book long beforehand?

So I'm planning to go to Japan next summer. I know that summer is regarded as a poor time to go there, but my work schedules don't leave me with much an option. I'm thinking of doing an extended stay, 4-6 weeks.

The question is, should I try to go there as soon as possible in June, or go there in mid-June and stay untill end of July?

I've heard that May to June is some kind of rainy season, but how bad is it really? Are we talking about it just being rainy or is it some kind of nonstop deluge which makes it impossible to do any outdoor activities?

For what's it worth, I tolerate rains much better than heat and I've read that the latter half of summer gets extremely hot in Japan.

I'm currently planning on visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagano and maybe Hiroshima and/or Nagoya (not in that order). The general idea is to go south and then northwards as the summer progresses.

Considering the lenght of my planned stay, what would be the most cost-effective, reasonable accomodations for the journey? Grabbing an AirBnB somewhere? I haven't done much traveling, especially not for such extended periods, so I don't really know what options there even are.

Sapporo isn’t bad. Are you looking for a large city? Sendai is pretty nice. I went to Kyushu last January and it was okay. April and May in Japan is so fucking perfect weather wise. The first half of June is beautiful. Second half of June is hot like damn it’s summer. July to October is hot as fuck with August and September being unbearable even at night. Rain in the spring is comfy, rain in the summer you’re sweating under your fucking rain jacket so there’s no point in wearing one.

Thanks for the answers. Any comments on what would be cost-effective options for accomodation on an extended stay?
>>
>>2743587
If you’re moving from city to city I don’t think long term stay options would apply. Likely you will need to go the hotel route to which I’d recommend business hotels like APA, Super Hotel, ect. These are tiny rooms with the bed touching 2-3 sides but they’re comfortable and I’ve always had a good nights rest. During the pandemic I was getting rooms for $20 but prices have been steadily climbing looks like $75ish on average. With tourism on the rise hotel prices have been spiking. I did look into Airbnb and it only seemed cost effective if you have a family or big group. If you are traveling light it is possible to “stay” at a manga cafe for pretty cheap but it’s not really comfortable. The ones I’ve stayed at have been clean and quiet at night though. Sounds like a fun trip though man
>>
>>2743077
I have nothing to do for christmas and have the next few weeks off work. Flights are cheap too, and I have all the money to support the trip. Everything suggests I can go there. But I'm 28 now and have already been there. Idk what to experience besides the food and women again. I'd probably be comfier at home.
>>
I did 12 months in a Japanese because I end up in a fight with some drunk japanese and the police believed his version. the "Japanese only" rule is generally overlooked because they typically post a guard fluent in English nearby to eavesdrop on conversations.

Generally. It was no entirely uncommon for a guard that didn't speak English or our English speaking babysitters to be having a bad day and for whatever reason decided to enforce the rule. We adopted a tap system used by American POWs imprisoned in the Hanoi Hilton. An American vet in there taught it to us.

Pretty sure they knew we were communicating but they never really tried to stop us. We theorized that they had heard of and learned the code and were giving us enough rope to hang ourselves so to speak and because of this any "secret" information was spoken verbally during exercise time.

All in all it wasn't a terrible experience. The guards were always a bit gruff but the other inmates were always very polite and courteous. Not exactly welcoming as we were rarely extended invitations for sports/games but none of them were anything close to openly hostile to us.
>>
Thinking about planning a trip to Hokkaido and trying to figure out the best options for accommodations. I don't want to stay in hostels or manga cafes if I don't have to but curious what the usual prices are for business hotels on the island.
>>

>gdp and economics
GDP is the total that a certain countrys industries and services produce, but that is besides the point
What we need is economic models, and most importantly capitalism and communism
You see, in traditional capitalism companies aim to maximize profits through any lawfully permitted means necessary. Communism is and was different but since it is irrelevant to the topic and life altogether we will not discuss it further
What you need to understand about the difference between Western trad. capitalism and welfare capitalism vs. Japanese capitalism is the different approach to profits.
Western companies have investors that have to be pleased reguralry, so companies cut costs, raise prices and whatever to increase the eternal profit even further
Japanese culture post 1970 is extremely allergic to any raise in prices or cut in quality or pay, so companies avoid displeasing the customer. Japanese companies have traditionally had a different approach to profits as well - it is acceptable to take losses for 10 years in your main line of business as long as real estate investments and side hustles bring in cash
TL;DR and to tie it together: The West suffers because of corporate greed while Japan prospers because of fundamental cultural and strategic differences

>I've heard that May to June is some kind of rainy season, but how bad is it really?
My first vacation to Japan in 2018 was during the rainy season but it only rained for about 3 days out of 20.
It was intense downpour. Then when it stopped the humidity made it miserable to do anything outside.
Looking back they are fond memories, but I assume at least 20% of my budget that trip went straight to sports drinks
>I tolerate rains much better than heat
Fall may be better then
>I've read that the latter half of summer gets extremely hot in Japan.
It does
>I'm thinking of doing an extended stay, 4-6 weeks.
>planning on visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagano and maybe Hiroshima and/or Nagoya
>what would be the most cost-effective, reasonable accomodations for the journey? Grabbing an AirBnB somewhere?
Considering both the length of the trip (not really relevant in this case) and the amount of destinations, I'd say hotels would be best. AirBnB is always a hurdle, especially in a foreign country and because you'll be going from one city to the other. With the distance between them it's not really feasible to set up a base of operations in one and doing day trips to another, you'd typically do that for shorter distances like Osaka->Kyoto, Osaka->Nara or Tokyo->Kamakura etc.
>>
>>2743588
Thanks for the recommendations!
>>2743629
>Fall may be better then
Sadly that's an absolute non-starter when it comes to my work. Best I could manage is a week and probably spend half of it jet-lagged.
>Considering both the length of the trip (not really relevant in this case) and the amount of destinations
I've been thinking of it's even realistic and if I'm being too ambitious, but I've been wanting to go there for almost 20 years at this point. With the way things are going in the world, this really feels like now or never, so I'd rather spend a proper chunk of my time there.

A girl invited me out for dinner out of the blue. She took me to a clothing shop she likes and picked out clothes for me, then we ate at a izakaya and got a coffee at starbucks afterwards while walking around. Now she's talking about wanting to go to a bar with me.
Did I just have the first date of my life without realizing or is this some next level tatamae autism?

It may be cheaper to buy fried chicken, roast chicken, and Christmas cakes from a convenience store like Lawson's or a grocery store than buying the Christmas special meal from KFC. Due to their rivals selling their own cakes and roast chicken for Christmas, KFC Japan no longer requires reservations for their Christmas special due to losing their traditional monopoly on Christmas meals in Japan. Not to mention, all grocery stores will start discounting their Christmas cakes as day soon falls into night.

Just came back from being in Tokyo for work for 3 months. Honestly magical experience, and i'm doing everything to get my job to send me back here. This was my first time out of the States, so mybe other places are this good, but I don't think i've ever been somewhere so accommodating to people.

I spent most of my time in Ikebukuro, because the area inside of the Station alone has literally everything you could ever want. There are 3 grocery stores inside of this station, there's two bakeries and like 3 restaurants. Then from there, I can take an escalator into a Seibu department store that has a really quiet rooftop that it feels like no one knows about. Small jazz bands play really smoothing music up there on a daily basis, and there are food truck size shops up there serving Vietnamese noodles, coffee and some Halal. There are tables, compact with outlets I can use to charge my laptop while I work, and there are massive umbrellas you can put up to protect you from the rain. And working out there on rainy days while a band is playing is the best. Like, this is unbelievable. I'm form NYC and I can't find a single place even as close to accommodating as this, and almost every rooftop area here is behind a huge paywall or is standing room only. I've been back in NYC for like 2 weeks and i'm already depressed.

Picture related: Suntory released a limited edition Yamazaki single malt whiskey highball can, "Suntory Premium Highball Yamazaki - A gorgeous, rich taste," on December 24th. The whiskey used is aged in Spanish oak barrels, so the aroma of the oak barrels is certainly strong. It has the right amount of smokiness that is characteristic of Yamazaki, but also has a vague hint of berry fruit. As always, it's a premium canned highball, and it's extremely satisfying.

Don't really agree, as I managed to talk to people or group of friends about their personal life or job, among other things. Even joined a birthday party of regulars at a bar. And those people had opinions, instead of going そうですね all the time.

I've got hotels booked in Osaka and in Tokyo for my next trip, I've got a bit of wiggle room moneywise to go Hiroshima for a daytrip on top of the usual Himeji/Kyoto/Kobe route since it's hardly far from Umeda station.
Should I bother checking out Nagoya for the afternoon? Mostly doing a foodie tour with the odd sightseeing, but as the scenery won't be nice in Feb I'm not fussed about it.
>>
My gf and I are thinking of going to Japan and using local transportation, walking and bikes only to get from Tokyo to Osaka. Basically just following the Pacific all the way down

We came up with this after our first trip to Japan, where we got lost trying to get from Tokyo to Atami. Since we got the wrong pass, we had to get off at Yugawara. We then used local routes all the way to Atami Station. We rented bikes and biked from Atami Station to Atami Castle, then to Acao Forest. Probably the most memorable day of the trip desu.

Atami isn't like how Japanese TV and Japanese games though. This play looks like it's falling apart and isn't some party city like people hyped it up to be. We took theAtami Ropeway up to Atami Castle, and the whole building was rusted, probably the sketchiest Ropeway ride I've taken on the whole trip. And so much construction was going on too around Atami Station. Place is overrated if you're looking for a party city, but if you're looking for an awesome, quiet, and mountainous city on the coast that's near Tokyo, i'd probably suggest Atami.

You're retarded. A deep friendship is someone you can be vulnerable with or seek advice from, or someone who will actually listen to and empathize with you. Or someone if, were your car to break down or something, you could feel comfortable calling them at 3am because you know they have your back in a pinch. You can be friends with someone for years here in Japan and still don't really know their real opinion on anything significant.
>>
why do Japanese people hate Chinese people so much? We got a ride from this nice lady when we missed a bus in Kanagawa, and she was nonstop talking about how bad Chinese people, especially the tourists, are. She then apologized and pretty much gave us a "you're one of the good ones." speel once she realized one of us where Chinese lol. It happened a second time when we were on the train and some drunk Russian was being a nut job on the train in Tokyo. We got off and a nice Japanese old lady thanked us for being respectful on the train, then started going off about how much she hated Chinese people despite the person making all the noise being Russian lol
>>
>>2744222
>Chinese make up the majority of tourists, far outnumbering Westerners

Are they checking that people are bringing their tax free shit in their carry-ons?
I got nervous last year when I was leaving since I had to put it all in checked. But after I got past security the customs officer seemed surprised that I even asked about it.
>>
>>2744274
He's surprised because no one cares. The people you go to in order to claim tax free while you're at a store are basic minimum wage workers. The people at the airport who would even check if you have tax free items are also minimum wage workers. In what world would any of these people care about your items? They don't get paid enough to hassle you. Seriously, think about it. They would have to run your passport to check if you had any tax free items, then individually go through all of your stuff to find the exact items you claimed tax free on. That's a lot of detective work for a basic civilian. And with the massive influx of travelers, it's a waste of time to try and check all of these people. Could you imagine how long the lines would be if they actually checked through all of the people that claimed tax free at customs?

This is exactly why the tax free system is changing this year. It's not because too much people are claiming tax free, it's because people in the airport and in stores aren't doing their due diligence. So an abnormal amount of goods are being claimed as tax free, a majority of which probably aren't even with the person anymore and the workers don't have the time to check and charge that person the taxes that need to be paid.

I get it now. Your IQ is so low that your idea of a deep friendship is "we go to izakayas and it's fun to talk to him, 10/10 friends for life"
>>
>>2744416
I don't know if I'll go. I looked at hotel prices for Osaka for this winter/early spring, before it even begins, not that long ago, and all of the places I stay at normally have risen their prices. I'm sure it'll be even worse during the event. I like Osaka, but if hotels are Tokyo prices, that's a no dice for me.
>>
>>2744421
Going to izakayas together and enjoying each other’s conversations is a valid friendship retard. Man you sounds so mentally unstable it’s no wonder you want people to listen to your bullshit and respond to your personal emergencies.
>>
>>2744423
A "valid" friendship is a dime a dozen. It's not about needing someone who can rescue you, it's about someone you know could be there for you. You seem to be incapable of understanding beyond the literal meanings of words. Jumping from shallow friendship to shallow friendship is a waste of time. You also probably don't understand the meaning of being alone, which someone can be even with 100 friends.

What's the best way to estimate rail travel costs for Japan? I'm planning an extended stay (4-6 weeks) and I'm trying to put together a budget. I'm planning on staying a bit longer than day or two in most potential destinations, so the JR Rail Pass might not be worth it.

Does 10 000 yen per night seem like a reasonable average for hotel costs, presuming I' mostly staying in business hotels? And does 3500 yen per day seem reasonable for food and drinks? For what it's worth, I don't drink much alcohol.

Do you use transportation system IC cards such as Suica, PASMO, and ICOCA?
They are convenient because they can be used commonly by all train and bus companies in each metropolitan area, saving you the trouble of buying tickets.
You can also use them to pay at convenience stores and some stores and vending machines, so you can avoid having your pockets full of coins.

I get questioned on occasion now, and it might be because I visit Japan so frequently. I have like 9 stamps since Japan reopened in 2022.
>>
>>2744589
This is my 4th visit this year, so the landing permission stamps almost overlap creating the impression that I just leave for a week and return. In actuality I've just been in japan for like 50 days.
Doesn't help that I look like a criminal in my passport and since I'm a a yuro and just travel within the EU or japan, I've got nothing besides japanese stamps in there kek
The questioning last time consisted of just asking about my previous stays and for a hotel reservation. Problem is this time I'm staying with friends so it'll seem even more iffy.

You can always be turned away. It’s at the discretion of the officer who is examining your passport/luggage. For example if you are on a tourist visa you are supposed to only be doing tourist activities. If you are coming to Japan on a tourist visa and actually working that is against the law. This includes online work. Or if you are attempting to live in Japan on a tourist visa, also against the law. That’s what a lot of the inaka house faggots don’t understand. You’re not supposed to larp as a resident with a tourist visa. It happens in other countries too of course. People doing “visa runs” get denied because it’s obvious they are working illegally online meanwhile they already bought houses and furniture and shit like that.

The tourist stamp is voided at the second you scan out of the country. It may say 90 days but that only means UP TO, the internal DB checking your enter/exit is what customs looks at.

Kek ye Atami is a showa era resort that lost its glamour decades ago. There are resorts like this all over Japan they’re all dilapidated from the 80s. Taking local transport from Tokyo to Osaka sounds boring as fuck imo. Maybe taking local transport on the outskirts of Tokyo or Osaka would be interesting though.

>>2744592
>>2744624
Isnt it up to 90 days in a 180 period? And then it refreshed right? Get a couple days hotel room or somethin if ur worried about that part.

Will immigration bust my balls for not having "proof of onward travel"? Or only the airlines? I will prolly buy the cheap ticket to Korea or use the fly onward service website bullshit to have on me incase some dumbass lady thinks shes awesome for "doing her job" but in reality sucks at doing her job and wishes she could be blowing me at the Onsens in Beppu
>>
>>2744637
Your visa stamp will always say 90 days
Your time allowed in not like europes retarded system
You can come in 90 days fly to Korea, spend 1-2 weeks there, then fly back spending another

However, if you are going to spend up to the limit ~180 days allowed per 365 calendar days from first entry, you're going to be grilled for some things. I have hit near visa limit few things I've noticed
>they want onward travel
>they probably want your hotel info
>they might require proof of funds
>expect them to go through your bag more
>if going to other cities thew will want to know a few things
>expect them to ask you to turn on your laptop, answer questions about work
>doing the "lol 1 week in another country" is BS do more than 2 weeks to show you aren't working

90 day stays or stays near the visa limits are looked at far harder than the anon staying <60 days. I've had to bring up my hotels shown I was staying in X for 30 days then going to Y via Train/Bus, what I was intending to do in those areas, and explain my next flight out.

Best advice I can give you is build an itinerary in googlesheets or something and be prepared to show them
>>
>>2744586
>I hold a rich country EU passport, so I shouldn't fit into the illegal immigrant profiling.
LMFAO
Customs officers don't give a shit they give anyone shit depending on what they feel that second. Funny enough a lot of my euro friends get more shit than any US friend I know because a fair amount of them connect through AMS and everyone thinks they brought some weed in. You realize these people see thousands of people per day your "passport" means nothing to them, they are looking for the system or notes on the passport for checking you further.

Not having an onward ticket is the most braindead thing imaginable though, I never understand why euros are the ones always doing this.
>>
>>2744649
Because sometimes, you had your fill, and you want to get the fuck out of Dodge. A 90 day stay was just a bit over zealous. My first time in Japan, I stayed for 60 days and couldn't take it anymore. Last time I went to the Philippines, I was gonna stay for a few months, renewing visa free stay, maybe even a year, I made it a week, and booked a flight for the next day.
>>
>>2744629
Different countries and credit card companies treat it differently, so it's hard to say.
>>
>>2744643
Ok cool. So it should be chill if im not stayin anywhere near the limit ?? Like im not working there or a digital nomad , i just like flying in on one way and having an open trip. The last few times I flew into EU i realized they dont really like hearing "yeah man im just gunna wing it" So i figure I should at least have a solid story to give these goons from now on. I do always show sufficient funds
>>
>>2744649
>>2744651
Did they bust your balls about onward ticket? Should i just buy a ticket to korea to show them? Or ticket home to show em?
>>
>>2744652
I read elsewhere, Japan uses different firmware, and if you bought a phone outside of Japan, NFC won't work. If that's the case, I might not be able to go back for a long time. My bank/the mailing system has been fucking up getting me a new card while I'm overseas and it expires soon. Might have to stick to Western Europe or some other cardless/cashless society.
>>
>>2744629
I used Samsung and Google Pay for credit card transactions. AFAIK there's no way to add your Suica to your phone unless you have an IPhone or an android made for Japan.
>>
>>2744655
It depends some times I get busted to where I must show the booking last time leaving Korea I got just asked where I was going after just said home(USA) and they didn't bother. Completely up to the agent.

>>2744694
The Sucia situation often requires a Japanese ID or the like to register it along with a Japanese phone # so it is more difficult. The NFC band stopped being a thing ages ago.
>>
>>2744694
False. I added Suica to my US iPhone last month.
>>
>>2744708
I probably should have structured it better, but I meant either any IPhone, or an android phone made for the Japanese market. I had a family member add their Suica to their IPhone while I had to carry the card around.
>>
>>2744713
Had this with a friend who had a iPhone from their cell provider (verizon) wouldn't work but my shit works fine. Not like iphones aren't dirt cheap in Japan I got an 8 for ~65 USD, battery health at 80% but meh. Works fine as a backup/junker phone
>>
>>2744708
Just curious do you have the suica app or just the card on your phone?

I have a Japanese iPhone and the app and I got a protip in the case that you can use the app. Basically with the app you can preschedule a ride on the green car by picking the day, and starting and ending station. When you make it on the green car you just tap your iPhone above the seat on the ceiling there is a red light which turns green after it reads your info. The green car is based because it’s nice and quiet, you can sit on the second level, green car has its own bathroom, and attendants sell snacks and beers and drinks for good prices. When I fly into Narita I use it because it’s so comfy. It’s not as fast as the narita express though if you just care about time.
>>
>>2744656
>>2744694
>>2744708
Its a hardware chip. NFC works just fine. You can tap to pay via google or credit card nfc anywhere that takes it.

however The suica and pasmo cards use a proprietary Sony chip. Due to licencing and manufacturing costs, Apple decided its cheaper just to put it in all of their phones, androids however only put it in japan market phones.

Have nowhere really to ask so I'll ask here. Has anyone lied on their CV when looking for a job in Japan? I've kinda been fucking around travelling for the past 3 years so I have a big gap in my resume. I've been making a living selling access to custom APIs I developed but it's basically all passive and has been for a few years so I don't think I can just put that on my CV. I'd like to work as a software developer. I'm not concerned about interviews and whatnot since I can actually code.

I'm thinking I could just use a friend of a friend as a reference since he owns his own webdev company. I speak fluent Japanese and have N1 so I could apply to a lot more jobs than the average immigrant but the big ass gap in my CV is concerning me. I'm also not sure if I'd have to submit my CV to the actual immigration office or how that works. I'd obviously not want to lie to immigration while I have no problem lying to companies.

Long shot since I doubt anyone knows the answers here lol

They almost always have room at the Kintaro shops outside of the super busy streets, I think the price was around $15 for 8 hours overnight in Tokyo when I went.
You get a shopping basket and can pick all the JAV you want to watch in your own little private room (but they usually don't let foreigners use the PC unlike Internet cafes, probably because they don't work on memberships).

Counterpoint.
When i was living there in 2023, the summer was literally above 30c everyday for nearly 3 months straight. with 80%+ humidity most of it too, average nightly temperature was also like 25c, so it was just constantly unpleasantly warm and constantly disgustingly humid.
I also heard from friends still there that this past summer was the same (news online said it was hotter overall in fact).
Sure I get hotter days back home in Australia, where its odd if I don't get at least a few 40c days a summer, but never have I experienced anything so constantly uncomfortable and oppressive.
But, yeah anyone from closer to the equator would deal with that humidity regularly, so its not like Japans unique there. Just that of course its brought up when people mention summer, because it does still suck.

It's obvious that Japan is nothing like what you see in anime.

That said, I do have a question: If a high school student is caught skipping school, do people really do nothing about it, or do they say/do anything?

Like if a group of students was cutting class to play in the arcade, does the manager kick them out, yell at them for skipping school, or report them to their school (apparently it's easy to tell based on their uniforms)?

I only ask because Japan has the weird duality of being non-confrontational, but they also like to scold kids who neglect their education.

If it's Airbnb, ask the host if he's willing to do the transaction off-app. Airbnb is technically banned in Japan (for hosts, not guests), and the host would likely save money by not paying taxes or Airbnb's cut. You guys could probably find a happy medium where you pay less than Airbnb's rate and the host makes slightly more than what he would've made on Airbnb.

Quick question; when planning for a day trip to Kyoto from Osaka, is it worth it time and cost-wise to use the Shinkansen? I’m interested in using the Kyo-train Garaku instead but the journey time still seems longer overall

The Shinkansen is expensive in terms of express fare, and taking into account the travel time to the Shinkansen terminal, there is not much advantage in time saved by the Shinkansen.
If you use the Shinkansen to go to Gion or Shijo, it is a complete waste of time and money.
The Kyo-Torayon Garaku does not require an express fare, and only a standard fare is required.

This'll be my second trip to Japan. Only really drank at Hub and tried the gaijin hunter meme. Sadly my autism stopped me from getting laid but lesson learned.

In order to lower the risk of you getting fatigued and injured from all that hiking and walking in Japan, I suggest visiting your nearest Japanese drugstore / pharmacy or home center / supermarket and purchasing Kowa's Vantelin joint and muscle support products: ankle, back, calf, elbow, knee, thumb, and wrist. If Vantelin sounds familiar to you, it is because they are one of Shohei Ohtani's sponsors and he has personally used their products for his physical rehab and therapy.

Kenja-no-shokutaku (Wise man's dining) Double Support [Comes in a stick pack for easy carrying convenience]:

Question: What is it made of? Does it have any color, taste, or smell?

Answer: Kenja-no-shokutaku (Wise man's dining) contains indigestible dextrin, a soluble fiber, made from corn starch. It is a white powder with almost no taste or smell. Dissolve it in your favorite beverage, such as water, green tea, or black tea. It dissolves easily without changing the taste of your drink.

Question: How much should be consumed in a day?

Answer: Dissolve one packet in a drink, and consume with your meal, three times a day.

A kissaten (喫茶店), literally a "tea-drinking shop", is a Japanese-style tearoom that is also a coffee shop. They developed in the early 20th century as a distinction from a cafe, as cafes had become places also serving alcohol with noise and celebration. A kissaten was a quiet place to drink coffee and gathering places for writers and intellectuals. The Sabukaru links below provide a great list of kissaten you should try while you are in Japan although some of them have unfortunately closed since the time the articles were first posted on Sabukaru

Coffee L’ambre (珈琲 らんぶる) is a famous music cafe that opened back in 1950 that has also been designated as a historical cultural property of Shinjuku Ward. The first floor of Coffee L’Ambre is for smokers, whereas the spacious concert hall-like basement is entirely non-smoking. In an era when people didn’t have the means to listen to music in their own homes, people would gather at coffee shops like this one to listen to classical music.

Surely you're not overthinking this. If you're not picky about style, you should be able to find them in hyaku-yen stores like Daiso and whatnot.

Unironically a coin purse, kek. Only difference is that I got mine from my home country's dollar store. It was a worthy investment, as it cost me very little money, and I end up with a lot of coins in my travels, no matter the country.

I pay for most things with cash, I think it's cheap than credit? idk

anyway it's satisfying to dunk a bunch of coins into the slots at the train ticket machines, not a big deal. I just need a purse, and daiso is far away

I was 100 meters from a daiso when I posted this kek

330 to be specific, 345 at my heaviest, but the point is that I'm not sure how sleeping on a futon on the floor will feel. I'd love to stay at a ryokan every night for the cost and immersion but didn't think it was smart to book 11 nights without trying it out.

I may have been exaggerating my obesity, my BMI is 23, I just feel fat, I'm out of shape and I have a gut. I tried using the cryoderm I brought, and then bought salonpas patches. Neither worked. Vantelin even was the first thing I saw when I searched. Should've looked for that at sun drug instead. Also holy fuck I cannot stand this everything be closed on and around new years thing anymore.

I need to know where to find lonely jukujo who want a nice young foreign man to tend to there every need and love and cherish them. And also how to talk to them.
>>2746237
>Is bumble good?
I paid for premium for two weeks (rape me later) and I at least got matches. They wouldn't really talk to me and I'm not very picky, as long as they are slant eyed and aren't below a 3 or 4 I can get down with it. I cancelled it and now they want to charge $25 instead of $18 now. Fucking Jews. Anyways, tinder is just filled with bots, scans and prodtitutes, or just chicks who shoe they're faces or anything for that matter. Bumble was a lot better with that. The other apps they use I'm pretty sure are only available domestically, like you need a japanese number to create an account with them. Hinge isn't even available to japanese numbers.

In Tokyo in the summer of 2024, the minimum temperature was over 27degrees on many days, and even at midnight, the temperature was over 30 degrees.
Furthermore, Kyoto was even hotter and more humid than Tokyo. In fact, Okinawa is more comfortable during this time of the year.

I cycled 100km today from akiba to just west of Odawara. I couldn't get to hakone since my legs were toast and the climb too steep.
I'm not sure how I'm going to go further west tomorrow. The climb isn't going away.

so at first i started having general anxiety just about flying one way and figuring out my plan like how long will i maybe stay, or will i maybe go to korea or thailand, and also just general anxiety of hoping to find a smaller town or a good part of the city to stay in , Nowadays when i travel i can start to get annoyed of having a hotel too close to traffic noises or construction noises and shit, or maybe im feeling poor and i get a hostel and all the people in there are retards and im retarded for not paying 30 extra dollars for comfort. But my mind starts crunching all the $$$ of hotels and food ..which is really a bout the same i pay for Rent, gas, food at home...( i live in a van and also rent rooms occasionally) ,,the only difference is at home , i usually work a bit and make more $$$ so its more comforting. And I also actually have a phobia of flying .. like i know its not going to happen, but i worry of blowing up... Then the worries turned into a dreading anxiety....

like a dreading anxiety that i have not actually felt in many years , and used to suffer from in my teens and having panic attaacks. So i was telling myself "maybe this is a sign to not go"
In many of my travels i face bouts of "homesickness" which i now realize is more so just me seeking quiet and comfortable housing and part of it is a having people to talk to.
Like when I went to Vietnam I flew into Hanoi and took a bus to Sapa the next day, and the first few days i was like godamn i feel weird, i should just go home wtf. But i bought a motorbike off some locals and rode it towards Hajung pass. and I was on backroads and no other travelers were seen for the first week. I got to a small ass town and got a hotel and tried finding dinner but got chips from a store, and then walking back to my room some little kids yelled and laughed in some sort of jibberish unknown to me and It all hit me how far I was from home and even if i did want to somehow fly home the next day, it was a few days of riding just to a main town and then buses to big city and all that bulllshit so i went into a panic attack and was like godamn im livin one wild adventure right now.
But i said fuck it and had a blast riding south towards SAigon...

then covid happened and shit started locking down and that gave me mad anxietty so i flew home, even though i should of went to Ukraine or something better... Or like the time i went to Ecuador and just felt so godamn homesick , even though i was in paradise on a beach and surfing . I just couldnt have fun and wanted to go home, so i basically went home ,
So i have been trying to learn how to not let the " homesick" or anxiety bother me and learn to realize i have money and can enjoy my travel... Part of it might be that i ususally fly on a one way with only some plan... like this spring i went to Poland for a 20 day trip and actually had round trip tickets for once , and having the return ticket gave me some ease of mind.
I think i will buy a round trip ticket to Tokyo soon , but buy a changable one and can always change the return.
Flash to NYE . I go to a small party and have a few beers and champagne, and we were mostly hanging in a garage and there was loads of weed smoke and I actually got fucking CONTACT HIGH! ( i have not smoked in 4 years ) And it kinda gave me anxiety but i also enjoyed it. But I get home at fucking 2;00 AM and lay in bed till 4 and finally sleep and wakeup at 7:00 ..but i was feeling like puking and hungry and tired and I still actually had to pack my bag and organize some shit and buy an onward travel ticket etc... I just thought fuckit I will force my self to be tired so i can get some sleep on the plane. Which would of worked if I was all packed and shit and could of just walked out the door. I was in no mood to rush and then feel like shit going thru the airport and then a fucking 13 hour flight etc.
So yeah if you want any more details on my scrambled mind or life just ask. But i think i might just go in a week or two and smash some jap ass

Yokohama and Kawasaki are great. I live in kanagawa and the few times I've been were pleasant. You can take the subway to the main yokohama station or even shin yokohama and then from there anywhere into tokyo or shinkansen. plenty to do as well in Yokohama and Kawasaki.
