The middle Targaryen period was however a good time for the nobility because they realized they could obtain a lot of advantages if they gave the Targs what they wanted. They followed zoomer Daeron at war, they prayed with Baelor and they pimped their daughters to not-Henry-VIII. And in exchange they got whatever they wanted. That's why they still didn't rebel against the dragonless Targs. After that Daeron II was the first Targ king to truly anger the nobles and had to face a pretty dangerous rebellion. Bloodraven outright say to Dunk and Egg that the Balckfyres would have made nice figureheads easily manipulated by their noble supporters (Peake and all). But it was really Egg with his reforms and protections of the commoners that really got the aristocracy mad with the Targs.
