It's different, it had old world meets new fish out of water elements, with fantasy and mysticism in a way that hadn't been overly done and it had an ongoing plot arc that many cartoons didn't have. Plus it has the old pre cgi, pre cal arts animation. It also had a great voice cast. I'm sure there's some borderline furry elements to it too.
