>Marvel’s original plan was to keep three major characters around as a "familiar umbrella" under which new heroes could grow in Phase 4 and beyond – Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. At one point during the filming of AVENGERS: ENDGAME, the trio sat together and said aloud, "Look at us, the future of the MCU."

They perfectly represent the future of the MCU: soulless, dead, and gay.

Yeah, both Larson and Holland deserved to die of arse cancer before Boseman.

sad that they were that stupid to try making those three the tentpoles of Phase 4? they don't control Spider-Man, Sony does. No one gives a shit about Captain Marvel and only basketball americans care about BP

This makes total sense I'm not sure why you're having a hard time with it. Captain Marvel, black panther, and Spiderman all cleared a billion dollars. Since Downey+Evans are done who else do you build around circa 2019?

I don't understand. Why don't they either all have full costumes or all motion capture suits? Sure, you'd need to CGI Spider-Man's head for the eyes, but why can't he have an actual suit on his body?

Plus it was connected to the final scene of Infinity War, where they made you feel like you had to see it otherwise you wouldn't know what's going on in Endgame. Also, it came out just a couple months before Endgame, so you couldn't just wait for DVD/BR/VOD, you had to see it in theaters in time for Endgame.

And they fucking knew that the movie did poorly, proof is they made her dissapear in endgame, didnt touch the character for half a decade and when they did they made her share her own movie. And ir flopped as expected anyway

Its not Brie Larson's fault they wrote her character poorly.

Same for BP, he had Civil War hype, negros acting like the second coming of Jesus, he was also appearing in Infinity War etc.

It does suck, especially what happened with Chadwick Boseman, he didn't deserve to die of cancer so young. Feige should've recast, I don't care what the actors said during the filming of "Wakanda Forever".
>>198567894
>and only basketball americans care about BP
"Black Panther" made $1.35 billion and "Wakanda Forever" made over $842 million and that starred nothing but black women. The fact that the gross is so domestic heavy only makes the BP franchise even more valuable.
>>198568287
"Captain Marvel" was directly referenced in the post-credits scene in "Infinity War" when the hype for the MCU was the biggest it's ever been; you can't ask for a better advertisement than that. Yeah, it's clear how much IW helped only in hindsight, but still.

>didnt touch the character for half a decade
3 years is pretty common for a release time between movies in a series. Throw in the covid year that delayed productions and the timeline makes sense to me.
>and when they did they made her share her own movie.
Captain America shared his movies with Bucky, Falcon, Iron Man, and Black Widow
Thor shared his movie with Hulk
Antman shared his movies with Wasp
Hell Deadpool is sharing his movies with the X-men
Team-ups are the whole point of interconnected movies
>>
>>198567363
I hate these movies but this is just depressing

Boseman died of cancer so young. Jesus christ... I was reading about a woman who got dementia in her for tiers and died of it before she turned fifty. What was the point of even being born. If something like that can just happen toy ou. So pitiless and indifferent

>Feige should've recast
I disagree. Making his death a sad point and plot relevant in the sequel is kind of gross but also financially super smart since people were genuinely really sad about his death.
The misstep was replacing him with Shuri and 2 random women. The only explanation is that they did literally zero market research into what audiences wanted. To replace the cool, masculine black superhero with a scrawny teenage girl, a younger teenage sidekick, and an older mean woman was the stupidest creative decision (and the film still did well financially despite this which is the insane part).

Instead, they should've either had a random new street kid accidentally become the new Black Panther (basically just copy Miles Morales' story but with BP). Or, used multiverse bullshit to bring back Michael B Jordan as Black Panther from an alternate universe.

Maybe try building around Hulk or Scarlett Witch? There are only so many choices. Building around Scarlett witch might be tough because I think execs at Marvel knew Elizabeth Olsen was about done with the character/role by the time endgame wrapped

But really I still think those were probably the safest 3 characters/actors to build around.

>>
>>198571576
Yes, and she was a stupid choice
>>198571511
The solution was to work with Sony closer rather than trying to steamroll them, replace Black Panther with a new actor (can be a different character in the suit), and choose Scarlett Witch instead of Captain Marvel. From there, they needed to focus on building up those heroes and establishing 3 or 4 new heroes to be the "core" team (and giving Thor to a filmmaker who knew what to do with him).
Their problem was establishing like ten new heroes that were quickly forgotten (with only a few those in films - which were shit), while focusing on disney plus retardation that no one watched or cared about.
>>
>>198571626
Cap Marvel is always supposed to be doing shit in space we dont see. Strange has to protect the Sanctum
>>
>>198571325
Killing T'Challa because Boseman was dead is a disservice to the character and the MCU as a whole. They went with the immediate emotional response, what "felt right," as opposed to taking a step back, mourning, and then after that was done actually thinking about what was the right course of action. Because now we just have no more Black Panther. There will be no Black Panther movies in the future - There will be Shuri movies. And, I'm sorry, I like Shuri well enough as T'Challa's Agent Q, but I have no desire to see her as THE Black Panther. You can't kill off Tony, have Pepper or Happy wear a robot suit, and then expect the next "Iron Man movie" to do well. They should've recast T'Challa. There was a perfectly good John David Washington right there they could've used.

Brie fucked up with all that "I don't care what you think about movies" rhetoric when the people she was addressing were mainly the people she'd be trying to please in the MCU, and, to a lesser degree, making fun of Carol's "swimsuit" costume while at the same time not having the body to pull it off anyway. She seems to be a decent enough person in the various random videos I've seen of her, but as far as the MCU goes, she was just repeatedly sticking her fucking gigantic feet in her mouth. The fact that Carol just waltzes into Endgame pulling that "Yeah, you guys are cute, but I'm the real hot shit here" with the Avengers we'd been following for 20+ movies probably didn't help, either.

every sane person would think that an actual costume would help the immersion, looking at the raimi movies.
There is a video on youtube that shows bts stuff and Tom Holland in an actual costume, but marvel paints a complete cgi suit over it anyways to make it look "better" (meaning, like a video game from 2016, I guess).

This explains a lot of the scenes where he looks so fake and just pasted into a scene. At that point they could just do a full CGI model instead of painting over a real suit.
