What happened here that this movie was so good when every other entry in the series was so shit?
>>198574811They made a time travel plot that was fun.
>>198574811It had the most kino actors in the series, all in one film, so it created a hyper kino
The real question is what the FUCK happened here?It was just one big blackpill after days of future past and apocalypse ended on such high notes
>>198574811i can't watch this kino anymore without getting depressed at this tragedy
>>198574811Better than any MCU movie tbqh. Good mix of the old and new cast, well structured time travel story (better time travel plot than Endgame too), real stakes, future sentinel scenes are really well done, etc
>>198574811They really leaned into the kind of batshit crazy fun these sorts of films could have always been. Iceman doing actual Iceman shit, Colossus doing actual Colossus shit, 2 different versions of the characters overlapping in the same film, characters getting brutally heemed by sentinels...they just went for it in a way the other films weren't quite willing to. Only X-Movie to get anywhere near the pure insanity of the 80's and 90's comics
I dont understand how Singer was able to curb his bussy lust up til this movie, making absolute kino, and then basically lost his marbles during Apolcalypse
>>198574811First class was really good tho
>>198574953surely dark pheonix saga isn't that hard to adapt, how are they 0/2third times the charm bros.. MCUmen will do it right!
>>198574811is that the one with quicksilver being based?
>>198574953another bad dark phoenix saga and they did my girl dazzler dirty. fuck you Simon Kinberg
>>198574811Because it's like a 90s X-Men cartoon episode brought to the big screen
>>198575308>t.
>>198574953>basic plot had already been done in X3 and didn't need to be told again so soon>overlooked the fact that half the reason it was a big deal in the comics was that Jean was one of the OG X-men and had been around forever so this was a major change to a major character. The comics took years to build up to this plot. Sophie Turner had been Jean for one movie and her character's importance to the X-men was never really established so who fucking cares if she goes rogue. We barely knew her. They just fast-forwarded to the payoff with no setup>also we'd barely established nu-cyclops and Wolverine wasn't even involved so there was no love triangle and the characters who would care most about what happened to her weren't even prominently involved. >somehow did an even worse job of selling Jean's heel turn than X3. In the comics she destroys an entire planet and kills billions. In X3 she kills Xavier. in Dark Phoenix she... accidentally pushes Mystique into a sharp object. Fucking lol. It's the Sam's club version And it was just a half-assed film in general. Rushed, lazy, bad script, apathetic performances. Fox blew it
>>198574811All the elements of a good X-Men story- time travel- bad future- giant robots- two versions of the same guy- love triangle- varied powers- genuine sense of doom- story resolves from something that isn't punching Plus cool music cues and period piece setting
>>198575207Dark Phoenix is actually basically impossible to adapt into a movie while keeping it both recognizable and good because of how the plotline is actually the intersecting of multiple different plotlines from years of comics stories which themselves were built up over years of previous plot lines. You've got preexisting storylines about Alien empires, The Eyes Wide Shut BDSM Sex Cult of the rich and powerful, and more. You just can't fit that all into a single 2 hr movie.
>>198574953I like how any Magneto scene was basically Michael Assbender acting his ass off through a shitty scriptNo wonder he just wants to race cars now
>>198574811First class was good too but it didn't age well.DOFP wont hit nearly as hard without watching FC first though.
>>198574953apocalypse didn't have any high notes, only reason someone says it was good was because it was the theater aura. I liked it when i first watched it too.
>>198575888checked and correctIt would be like if the MCU did infinity war after the first Avengers movie. Going for it for the second time in the series after the recast Jean had been a secondary character in one fucking film was pure hubris.
