Zoomers will never know that it would take 6 months for a film to go from theaters to tape. There was an actual incentive to go see a film because otherwise you’d be waiting up to half a year. Nowadays it typically is a month and a half. Some examples>Jurassic Park came out June 9th, 1993 didn’t come out on video till October 4th, 1994>Aladdin came out November 11th, 1992 didn’t come out on video till September 23rd, 1993>Titanic came out December 19th, 1997 didn’t come to video till September 1st, 1998As years went on, DVDs did shorten the release date a bit but it still was a waiting period. >muh piracyBut how many regular people pirate? If we had a longer wait time for films to be released people may feel incentive to go see it sooner
