Decided to see some of Snyder's old classics, and I realized that they have a ridiculous amount of grain. Is this some sort of an artistic choice or something? Is he using shitty film? Because it kinda looks annoying in 4k

It is supposed to look like an old timey painting.
>>200709508Really? 300 has cgi up to its ass, there is no way its going to look like an old painting with that film grain technique. My best theory is that Snyder filmed grained the shit out of his movies, in order to cover cgi imperfections
>>200709319Yes, it’s an artistic choice
>>200709597No, 300 is literally made to look like some old painting. You can see this in scenes showing the landscapes or during action montages.
>>200709319>Because it kinda looks annoying in 4k300 was mastered at 2K, so the grain wouldn't look any different than it did on previous HD releases.
>>200709319Man’s obsessed with grainhttps://youtu.be/5pTSXZq-oZI?si=IqwSxZ_ssmBlFdv0
>>200709613Watchmen as well? Because that was film grainy as fuck>>200709655I find hard to believe that since 300 was based on a comic book and look nothing like an old painting>>200709754Yeah thats its true. This pic is actually from the 2k HDR release. I also have a 1080p blu ray from this movie and it looks just as grainy
>>200709830Lol. On the technical side, this trailer doesnt look as grainy as his previous movies. Of course, I aint gonna watch his slop to see if he abuses film grain there as well, and I dont know if youtube's video compression hides it, but it would seem that he went easy with the film grain here.
>>200709319Shit film
>>200709319probably that disgusting amount contrast
Grain is an inherent part of film you fucking zoomer coombrain
>>200710960Nah, its good.>>200711003This pic looks weird because its an HDR capture. It looks great in real time>>200711069Im a millennial you stupid faggot. Not even movies from the 80s have that amount of grain in them.
