With the old breed and my helmet for a pillow are two of the most memorable books I've ever read and I wouldn't have read them if not for the show. It's hard tk watch the show knowing sledge isn't a bitch boy whose dad pretended he had a heart murmur as opposed to a based Chad that left ROTC officer training to go in as an enlisted man so he wouldn't wait as long to kill japs.
