I thought it was pretty shit, I will say that it has the old school soul look to it meaning it's better than any modern slop. But it was just not a great flowing movie. I was also disappointed that cammy was played by kyle Minogue. She's hot don't get me wrong, but I think cammy should have been sexier AND in the proper leotard with her fat ass cheeks out.
>>
>>200741862
I doesn't hold up but it was 10/10 for 11 yr old me in 95
>>
For a movie based on a game that's known for pixelated blood and brutality, it's pretty great.

Its pretty close to the game. I had the movie poster for this since my aunt that time was dating one of the cinema employees. He promised me he'll give me the poster once the movie ends its cinema run in which he did.
>>
>>200741862
It was a fun movie. Not sure what you'd expect from a movie based on MK anyway.
>>
>>200742086
Why did Hollywood pick fighting games as a means to adapt into a movie? They basically have a minimal story. They've done Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Street Fighter, Dead or Alive. It just seems weird when you have a ton of games that are primarily story based.

It's a tightly paced martial arts movie with a lot of soul. Not sure what more it needs to have.

What is the story of the movie? Liu Kang wants to kill Shang Tsung for murdering his brother. So Liu Kang enters the tournament to act his revenge. In the meantime he fights known faces of the franchise until he finally fights and defeats Shang Tsung. Is that the story? As an MK fan, I think the story they have now is better than the movie's story.

If I was going to ding it a point for anything at all it would be the CGI effects aren’t the best but it’s basically just the short bit with Scorpion’s demon spear and the two or three times we see Reptile before he’s in human form. It’s used sparingly enough that it doesn’t bother me

I rate Mortal Kombat 1995 10 out of 10. Mortal Kombat 1995 is the greatest video-game film of all time and it has a fuckin' BANGER soundtrack. And it's infinitely better than that dogshit Mortal Kombat film from 2021. And Mortal Kombat 1995 is a rare example of an adaptation that actually IMPROVES its source material by giving Scorpion that cool beak at the end of his harpoon.

Sub-zero's ice attacks were digital effects as well but they were the sort of thing that 90's CGI could do well so they look fine. Goro was probably the make or break decision for his film, if he was CGI it would have looked fucking awful. The animatronic version was the way to go.

The fact that this is essentially a martial arts film where every fight is live in camera between guys who could actually do the moves is why it holds up so well. The sequel lost its way
>>
>>200741862
It’s a great movie. Siskel defended as such against a dismissive Ebert back when it first came out. Great sets/visuals, great music, great choreography. The reptile vs Liu Kang fight is easily one of the best fight scenes in movies.

most people button mash when they play fighting games, anon. MK/SF power combos are notorious for ranging from easy to learn to annoying to master, especially for fatalities & related techniques
then there's also the spectacle of cinema rule, when you introduce a thing having it on repeat sort of cheapens the effect, this is why weapons are great on-screen, the more the merrier
but fantasy shit? using it more than once in a scene just tells the viewer "why aren't they simply using the spell over and over since it's so kickass?" for the casual viewer that fucks women and doesn't play games, having a fireball like liu-kang delivers to shang tsung at the end of their fight to guarantee a win is more effective than if he was shooting fireballs all throughout the match

I don't remember having trouble unlocking all the characters though 100%-ing the krypt was tough. Then again I was an edgy teenager practically chained to his xbox at the time. Maybe if first played it as an adult I wouldn't like it as much. I also remember playing the fuck out of the chess mode. Getting a fatality without all the bullshit when defeating the enemy king sold me to do it at least once with every character. Harakiris were fun too.

Cool as fuck bro. Just watched it a few months ago with a favorite "gamer meal" of mine

>1 block Velveeta (queso Blanco preferred)
>1 can fire roasted corn, drained
>1 can black beans drained
> 1 or 2 cans of rotten diced tomatoes w/ habanero
>1lb ground beef
>1 diced onion
Cook all and add Velveeta block at the end. Stir in a half can of your favorite pilsner or IPA and serve melty "Junk Nacho Cheese" with Doritos. I like the sweet spicy chili ones with this. Excellent nachos and will feed you for days. Recommend 2 bags for the amount of nacho cheese made. Paired with the movie well and I also watched Demolition Man that night.
