So, what exactly was supposed to be so bad about these? I think it tells the story of the rise of Darth Vader pretty well. Sure, some of the romance stuff is pretty boring, but it's not like the original trilogy was without boring parts as well. Overall I'd say they're a good beginning to the saga, and they feel a lot better planned out than the sequels.

They are very solid movies, and in the same tone and style as the OT. Gen Xers were just butthurt that they had grown up and it wasn't as nostalgic anymore. These are movies primarily for kids and millenials were blessed to have seen all 6 in the intended perspective, not just the original 3.
