>>201659097When every movie review of "Against the Odds" is required to bring up the film it attempts to remake and 40 years later we only remember Phil Collins' theme music
>>201659820I've heard of that film but I refuse to watch remake of old noirs. They're basically a soulless softcore porn version of them just like the postman ring twice with jack nicholson. I prefer my noir with subtlety and sexual innuendo

I really want to get immersed in the "hard-boiled detective noir" genre/aesthetic, the ones that fully look like the amalgam in our heads of that description, with all the tropes and cliches, not "they're noir at heart but with a different look". I really don't care if they're the "best" films of their genre or not, I want to be knee deep in the pulp. I want battered fedoras, late night coffee and cigarettes, seedy bars and diners from a time where the darkness and grunge was artistic and full of gravitas, not a modern hyperrealistic inspection of our times.
