If you ever enjoyed an RPG video game you have this movie to thank for it.
>>
>>201661819
Why?
>>
>>201662252
Richard Garriott was heavily inspired by this film as a young man and went on to create Ultima, which (along with Wizardry) formed the basis on which almost every RPG in Japan and the west modeled itself.
>>
>>201662339
what was inspired by the movie? Fantasy adventuring parties have been a thing since Jason and the argonauts

They ruined Time Bandits's legacy too? Ouch.

I'm pretty sure George Harrison funded the first one because he liked the idea so much.

It's got 6 different production companies involved
>Piki Films (NZ, Taika Watiti's company)
>Two Canoes Pictures (US, some weird little Injun venture)
>Anonymous Content (US)
>MRC (US)
>HandMade Films (UK, the production company behind the original movie)
>Paramount (US, obviously)
It's got as much fucking Kiwi involvement as it has British

Harrison put up his own money and house as an asset to get funding for Life of Brian. That lead to 'HandMade Films' being created, which funded Time Bandits. Gilliam had already started getting a bad rep and Jabberwocky didn't do well. So George's funding was pretty vital at the start. I imagine once Sean Connery put his name to it, things improved.

George seemed to have fallen out with Terry during the production.

'Harrison contributed just one song to the Time Bandits soundtrack, “Dream Away,” which was seemingly about how much he hated working with Gilliam, who at one point threatened to destroy the negative to his own film with a nail. The song contains lyrics like, “Greedy feeling, wheeling, dealing” and “All you owe is apologies.”'
