Name an unfunnier person to get their own show
>>201660913Every cunt that graduated from the Daily Show was fucking terrible. That's a pretty impressive track record really.
>>201660913
>>201660913Donny Two Scoops when he has his own Comedy Central talk show
>>201661466eh the ones who didn't continue on in politics like Rob Corddry and Rob Riggle were alright
>>201661910The ones pre 2005 are mostly kino in the days of all white daily show
How did we go from>>201662000To this
>>201662044you know howand keep in mind it crashed so fucking hard that they had to drag Stewart back once a week just to keep it afloat
>>2016620002006/2007ish was the last days it was still watchable it was obvious after that they started with nothing but DEI hires to replace all the whities also John Oliver becoming the new go to correspondent was when I really started disliking the show more found him annoying as fuck since day one
>>201661466>He doesn't like Cedar Man
>>201662168Crazy the first 20 years it was on they never had any non whites lol it’s like they had to overcorrect in the years since where’s its all blacks and browns and one token white now
>>201662168Weird I have no memory of the prick senator guy from Veep on there, that guys always good at playing an asshole
>>201662000>>201662044>Television ratings from 2008 show that the program generally drew 1.45 to 1.6 million viewers nightly, a high figure for cable television. By the end of 2013 The Daily Show's ratings hit 2.5 million viewers nightly. In demographic terms, the viewership was skewed to a relatively young and well-educated audience compared to traditional news shows. A 2004 Nielsen Media Research study commissioned by Comedy Central put the median age at 35. >From January 2014 to January 2023, The Daily Show lost 75% of its audience, averaging 570,000 nightly viewers, down from 2.2 million. During the same period, the average age of its viewership increased from 48.2 to 63.3, with only 30,000 viewers in the coveted 18–34 demographic per broadcast.
>>201662000VGH...
>>201662231Michael Che was a correspondent for like 5 minutes before moving on to SNL, then they brought in Trevor Noah to be the token negro and it was all downhill from there.
>>201662000OG kilborn dialy show is the only version that matters, before libowitz kiked up the show
>>201662044Roy Wood is pretty decent honestly
>>201662168Didn’t Samantha Bee try to stop black kids from attending her kids private school?
>>201660913not only is he an unfunny faggot but he literally played the race card when fired. racist pos.
>>201662000>>201662044>>201662168>>201662330The TDS format of liberal news satire was very much a product of its time in the Bush era and the second he was out of the white house all those shows went from being the opposition to being the establishment. They tried to milk the Tea Party stuff but it began to feel more and more like punching down.
You just don't get humor, anon.
>>201660913Bill Simmons
>>201662592The irony of that picture.
>>201662498The race card was his whole gimmick. He was the guy they used to bring on to blacksplain to the white liberal audience, and then his own show was all race hustling all the time.On that note, the original title of the show was supposed to be The Minority Report but they had to drop it for copyright reasons, which is a shame because it would've the only funny part of it.
>>201662484its somewhere between not really and sort of it was a public school, they were rezoning a bunch of NYC public schools and moving things around and Samantha Bee/Jason Jones lived in the Upper West Side and basically their kid's nice white neighborhood school was getting moved way outside of their nice white neighborhood, which is a big reason why they lived there in the first place - i'd be pissed too
>>201660913Jay Leno
>>201662000>>201662168I knew most of these people as comedians or actors on their own merits before they appeared on the daily show.>>201662044The black guy on the left is the only familiar face.
>>201665470yeah all the actual funny daily show people went on to be funny comedic actors not larping as political experts like they all do now
>>201662224
>>201660913Every talk show host.>>201662224He looks like he was made in a laboratory by an AI.
>>201662415This
>>201662330>with only 30,000 viewers in the coveted 18–34 demographic per broadcastDead show walkingMiss watching it with pic rel as the lead anchor, not tied to a political party and nothing but punching down
>>201666242Kilborn was based as fuck, enjoyed his era of the late late show as well. his interviews were fun and 5 questions was kino
>>201662415i had a massive crush on Beth Littleford, she carried over into the few first years of the Jon Stewart era but left just before the show became politics obsessed, her segments interviewing random washed up celebrities were always great, i remember the Fabio and Boy George ones in particular being hilarious and played on a lot of best of specials (back when they aired daily show best of specials)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0UMemOK-vgonly one i can find online is Dionne Warwick, shame Kilborne era is so hard to find online
>>201666384>SNL's A. Whitney Brown and the lawyer from Always Sunnykino line-up
>>201666312I was really hopeful that he'd make it as a late show host but that quickly went to pieces after watching his show a few times. It was too low energy or gay or something, it never suited him like TDS did imo. He was lacking something in late night that his previous show gave him.
>>201666410Unger pretty much invented the blue print for how every correspondent imitates (the smug know it all shtick) no matter how much Colbert (who came towards the end of Kilborn era) gets all the credit for it
>>201666384>shame Kilborne era is so hard to find onlineI would pay for streaming access for old TDS shows from his time. There is almost nothing online. I actually wonder if we'll ever see any of that again.
>>201666425i think most people found him too unlikeable and smug, he was an aquired taste for sure. i even liked that super short lived syndicated show he had in like 2010 when it seemed like he was trying to make a mini comeback for a minutehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Aca2LTyhOg
the obvious
Rob Dyrdek
>>201666485Rob is just a clip show, they could put anyone in that spot
>>201666459He seemed even more smug on late night than TDS, perhaps that's what it was.I think he burned too many bridges with people. He was quick to leave most jobs he had and at TDS and CBS he seemed to leave on sour terms. I don't think his aloof attitude was an act in the slightest; that was him and it rubbed people the wrong way.
>>201666542the original creator and head writer Lizz Winstead (her on the left in picrel) quit The Daily Show which was a big deal at the time because of some sexist comments he made about her in an interview (apparently she already had a problem with him making sexist comments or whatever before that but the interview was the last straw)https://variety.com/1997/tv/news/kilborn-suspended-from-daily-duties-111778844/
>>201661466Sorry up until he got mindbroke by politics stephen colbert was fucking hilarious
>>201666646>Kilborn — formerly an ESPN anchorman — was quoted as saying, “There are a lot of bitches on the staff, and, hey, they’re emotional people. You can print that! You know how women are — they overreact.”>He added that Winstead finds him attractive and would perform certain sexual acts for him if he asked.lmao chevy chase levels of based
>>201660913John Oliver.
>>201666646I wonder if that's why the Andy Williams Christmas Daily Show special was messed up, Colbert was hosting the show but in the "satellite" segments Williams keeps referring to "Craig" and Stephen sort of just laughs along with it. I think that might've been when Kilborn was suspended. I don't remember hearing about Kilborn's suspension when it happened but I do remember that episode being fucking weird
>>201667186Yeah going by it saying he returned from suspension on Jan 5 1998 that’s gotta be it.>Andy Williams Christmas SpecialDamn that takes me back. I miss all the theme episodes they did in the early days, the show was like half sketch show in those days. I wish I could find the time they did a whole episode as a parody of The View called “The Daily View” with Beth hosting in the Barbara Walters role. Only can found an old blog that mentions it and has some gifs
>>201660913this >>201661466but seth meyers, john oliver is the most successful unfunny person. honestly all comics are like this
>>201662044*raises eyebrows zestily*
>>201662044OO WEEE MASSA
>>201666482him and Jimmy Fallon are both terrible.
>>201662000Wow, the 2015 guy actually looks like a human being here.
