Back in 1999 when the book was written the earth was getting colder (because the sun was at a low peak in the solar cycle) and so leftists claimed we were heading towards global cooling. It's only when the sun started heading for the high peak of the solar cycle (seriously, look this up. They never teach this in school for (((some reason)))) that the climate cultists rebranded to global warming.
