renting movies in 90s-early00s was like $5 tops at the bigger places like hollywood video. It was cheaper at local places. We had two "hometown" videos in my small town. One north location and one south. Then another place came in and I forget their name. Then hollywood video moved in. You could also rent from the grocery store and a local electronics store. So we had 5 fucking video rental places for a town of 10k.
>>

Aren’t millennials the same faggots who have to see EVERY capeshit movie that comes out? Aren’t they the generation who raised their children to be illiterate, zogbot, screen zombies with no interpersonal skills? Aren’t millennials the group that made racemixing and being a cuck (your wife having a black lover) apart of pop culture?

I can’t count the amount of millennial race mixers I’ve seen in public, I also can’t count the amount of Gen Alpha that are complete mutts.

Mass advertising still exists and it's just as soulless and as tacky as in your picture. Coke is unhealthy and causes obesity, whiskey is bad for you too.

Am I meant to feel nostalgic over propaganda promoting unhealthy vices and sitcoms?

It's like you've fallen into a trap of saying the older bad thing is better than the current bad thing instead of trying to actually imagine a world worth living in, where entire psychology departments aren't being paid to manipulate you into buying things that harm you.

The concept of a stolen childhood should be exclusively used for people who were forced into an adult position before they reached physical maturity, like girls married off at 13, boys forced into coal mines, and shit like that.
The Jews didn't steal your childhood because you weren't given a cookie cutter childhood experience. Hell most people don't even have to grow up until their late 20s or early 30s. You have the longest childhood in human history.

Millennials are the first post-history generation. They may have had grandparents who remember WW2, but they didn't take them seriously because they were so old. Millennials grew up thinking the world was in its new and final phase, that it would always remain static. Nothing could change because all the world's problems were solved in WW2 and finally by the end of the Cold War. It was nothing but consooming and prosperity from here on out.

Once reality started hitting in the 00s and never stopped since then, they've been getting more and more buckbroken. They're developing mass psychosis because the world completely different from what they believe it SHOULD be. They will sooner cope and seethe to death than admit they grew up in an extremely sheltered and privileged outlier of human history.

Half the shit you mentioned doesn't actually happen to anyone. Some retards on twitter screeching about white people doesn't translate to anything happening in the real world.

Also crime was fucking WAY higher in the past.
>Instead, violent crime during the colonial period was likely three times higher than the highest modern rates in the data we have, and crime had been on the decline since colonial times.[2] Within the better data for crime reporting and recording available starting in the 1930s, crime reached its broad, bulging modern peak between the 1970s and early 1990s. After 1992, crime rates have generally trended downwards each year, with the exceptions of a slight increase in property crimes in 2001 and increases in violent crimes in 2005–2006, 2014–2016 and 2020–2021.[3]

Shit like Hollywood video would get like 50 copies of whatever new release came out. You were pretty much guaranteed to get a copy. I have no idea how their business model worked but they would do this for nearly every new release.

The local places would get like 2 copies max.

36 year old here. I'll give you some of my insights. I think we have much more convenience now compared to back in the day. However the price for this convenience is our souls and social trust. We used to hang out at the local mall and meet other kids who were also white just like us, sometimes we'd beef with them, sometimes we'd befriend them. The mall was a cool place to just hang out and dick around.

These days malls are dying because shitskins are going to them, online shopping, lack of social trust, etc.

cringe video but this video is what the mall experience was like being a weeb in the early 2000s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCZs29IAu3c

Honest to God, I was thinking maybe yesterday about the opportunities to meet people at a video rental place like Blockbuster or Hollywood Video.
>be looking for movie
>oh shit, that girl is looking at a movie I like
>"oh hey you interested in that movie?"
Or even just to break the ice with like-minded dudes.
I can't even imagine the contrived circumstances a person would have to engineer for such a happening today.
>>
As an actual old man I will never understand the obsession kids today have with the video rental experience. No one was renting multiple movies or games, we were renting because we were fucking poor. You weren't getting fucking snacks either because guess what, we're poor and have "snacks" at home. At best you would get some free stale popcorn at Jumbo Video and that was it. It was an awful and degrading experience, I always hated going there.

I actually met my former HS classmates the summer after my freshman year in college. I was at the Blockbuster (this was in 2008) and I felt a hand tickle the back of my neck. It was one of the girls I was cool with but was never friends. She and her BFFs were all there, we chatted, and then I got invited to a party later that week. Good times.

People talk about generation gaps. I'm 35 so I'm out of touch, but what's the difference between a teen in 2014 to a teen in 2024? We had high speed internet, 4G, streaming was more common. Is there that big of a cultural gap?

Zoomers have been raised on media that has no souls, ideals or directions. Consumption is the dutyt expected of western people at this point, and their generation got that brain washing worst of any to this point,.

Dude, I loved the 2000s. I was 10 when the new millennium rolled in and I remember all those weekday afternoons watching Toonami and playing PS2 games.

Like I said, I'm 35 so I'm considered old by kids, but my 20s were from 2009 to 2018. I remember the culture shift and how everyone was getting glued to their phones and social networking, but as I asked, if say an 18 year old from 2014 was in a 10 year coma and woke up today, would there be a massive culture shock to them? I remember in the 2000's, you could still make fun of trannies and banter against gay people, but now it's off-limits.

The last time I went to Blockbusters was 2010.

I rented 3 movies for 1 week. Goonies, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Curse of the Black Pearl.

I also bought some snacks. One of them was crispy M&Ms
>>
>>201767561
You can still make fun of trannies today, it's even becoming mainstream now
>>
>>201760578
This guy is a fag. My city had mom and pops, franchises, Blockbusters. They all smelled like popcorn, had nice selections. Sure you'd run into a
>all new copies rented
situation occasionally, but it was nowhere near bad enough that it would sour the experience as he's describing.
>>
>>201767684
I'm talking about movies/shows and pop culture in general. LGBTQ+ was treated as a punch line. Now they're a protected class where a dude in a skirt can go to a female bathroom and molest/rape women or dudes can compete in women's sports now.

A few weeks ago I saw a tranny with a massive beard, dress, and boots outside the coffee shop. You wouldn't get away with that in the 2000s outside of certain neighborhoods.
>>
We have to go back.

Everything ahead of us is gray and dark.

I was 16 in 2014 and I at least didn't grow up with a screen only. Social media only penetrated real life for us at the age of 11 or 12 with MySpace, which is also not long after I got my first phone (not smartphone).
People used to point this out about modern architecture, how you can go to LA and Johannesburg and see essentially the same buildings with any semblance of unique culture being very diminished, but that's just how young people seem to me now. The flavor of the month memes are just so ubiquitously adopted by people visibly from all walks of life, but they all use the same slang, value the same things, share the same tastes, while at the same time the range of socially acceptable choices feels narrower than before.
I theorize that young internet users are essentially a global diaspora regardless of circumstances. They are so desperate to participate in web-derivative culture (such as often redundant euphemisms like "Beast" or "Rizz", indications of a culture that creates customs just to stand out for its own sake instead of practical utility) because they feel a lack of real life culture, which is a sort of disillusionment they might be more pre-disposed to than even my generation because they amputated themselves from real life at even earlier ages.
