Newman is the praise-loving egocentric who is also a simple man and just wants a pat on the back and entry into the Jerry-apartment-club at the end of the day. Seinfeld, being an egocentric, knows this about him, but disliking Newman, refuses the fundamental aspects to the relationship while willing to take whatever surface level advances are brought to him.So he doesn't have any intention of dining with Newman. Quite frankly he has no designs of dining with Kramer neither, unless it involves some kind of blind date, double date, etc. But it's the entry point which he is willing to exploit.
