>fps drops when you watch on your TV through a HDMI cable
its fucking trash, back to VLC

Works on my machine. Not mpv's problem if you try to render a 20+gb HDR movie on your shitty craptop

Come home white man.

It looks fine on the laptop but the fps drops on the TV. VLC doesn't have this problem.
>>
>>203151370
Hmm whats the refresh rates? Perhaps thats the issue
>>
>>203151396
Also, that movie that you try to see, does it have HDR? VLC by default doesnt support HDR, so the rendering is less taxing

Ahh MPC
the working, honest man choice

>does it have HDR?
no. It's a open matte movie.
>>
>>203151122
Just don't do anything in the background like torrenting fresh kino at high speeds. MPV doesn't like that, at least not on Windows
>>
>>203152075
i'm using potplayer then, i'm too old (24) to try these script stuff

Does potplayer work well with hdmi cable?
i will try later
>>

>aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa why doesn't it work???
>>
>>203152306
why does VLC work then? fucking mpv trannies are so annoying
>>
>>203152223
I have tried it in the past and worked well. What's your TV model? I remember a similar issue on my friends TV. The movie played well on his laptop, but we were experiencing fps drops on his TV. His TV was dogshit tho, and sometimes if we lowered the resolution on his laptop, the movie would run well on his TV
>>
>>203152336
i dont know fagboi, perhaps VLC's output is inferior than MPV, so you accidentally get a good result on your TV with VLC
>>
>>203152337
Its a 4k samsung tv. Parents bought it a few years ago without asking me for my opinion. It's fucking shit. The OS is not based on android so you cannot install anything. It cannot play H264 or H265 from a external disk so I am stuck using a hdmi cable. I have tried using Plex but on wifi its not reliable. I would need to install a Ethernet cable to my room.
>>
try adding these to your mpv.conf?

vo=gpu-next
profile=high-quality
hwdec=yes
>>
>>203152607
I see. The fact that it cant even play h264 means that sucks as a TV. From what I know, cheap samsung monitors have shitty refresh rate and cant keep up with the refresh rate of your laptop. VLC is slow on the updates so perhaps this is why it works well your TV. But since VLC works on your TV, then why dont you use this one? I heard that in their latest update they are implementing HDR capabilities
>>
>>203152907
try switching profile=high-quality to profile=fast if you want more fps
>>
>>203152907
what do these do? and don't tell me to read the manual.
>>
>>203151122
>fps drops when you watch on your TV through a HDMI cable
scaling to 4k on slow pc requires
--profile=fast
>>
mpv is the white man's choice.
>>
>>203152336
Because it's not using any intensive upscaling filters.
