you asked for it and here it is, my opinion about the new VHS

>frame narrative
the weakest part of the movie, as usual. makes no sense how it presents the tapes
>stork
good fun, resident evil-esque, nice puppet and makeup effects. I liked that the cops won, doesnt usually happen in this kind of joint
>indian
I think it was an interesting concept, it had some nice visuals and it was clever how they set it in a music video shoot so they can use more cameras and angles, but still probably my least favorite, I wanted to know a bit more about the lady, and it would've been better if she actually turned into the guy, kind of allowing him to be the star he wanted to be
>oranges
This one was the only one to get me with the pickup truck jumpscare, nice creature design even if the cgi was not great, but I respect their choice of setting it during the day. Was kind of obvious they ran out of budget with the whole shooting the movie there, but it was good. I think it would've been fun if the aliens really enjoyed the pickup truck and the ending shot was them admiring it and the guy being confused, but then again Im a retard
>dogs
that was just Justin Long making no name actors go through what he went through in tusk, but Im a sucker for forced transformation/body horror/mad scientist stories so I liked it. Some chuckles were had with the activists
>mojave
the writing is miles above what you would expect from this kind of movie, I love Flanagan so you might think differently. it was so good that it kind of felt out of place.

What do you take me for? I don't have Netflix. But even if I did, those documentaries are way too overproduced. They try to push some narrative, instead of just giving the facts. A lot of times, horror movies are better when they don't show the monster/killer/whatever. What you don't see is scarier than what you do see. The kinds of movies that you're suggesting are basically breaking the documentary equivalent of that rule.

By "corporate", I mean a soulless piece of slop made purely to milk money from retards who were nostalgic for the original. It's what all those "legacy sequels" are

I liked In A Violent Nature. But I can see why people hated it. The whole thing was a little... Jacking itself off with the premise. That's both the charm and the downfall. Whenever our killer walks somewhere, you see him walking. When you see him preparing to kill someone, we get an extended shot of him crouching down, and putting down his hook on the ground, and picking up the axe instead, and THEN killing the guy. And then another extended shot of him walking back, slowly crouching down to pick up the hook, and then walking some more. Every time. The whole "showing his perspective" thing is clever enough but it can easily overstay its welcome. Outside of a couple good shots (the toy car scene) the conceit wore out it's novelty by the end of the flick, even though I came fully prepared for glacial, pretentious cinema. Maybe there's a certain level of excellence you need to justify that shit, and the picture somehow failed to "earn" its style after the fourth or fifth iteration of this. Or maybe it just wanted for variety. The high points were high - whole theater loved the Yoga Lesbian getting MK-Fatalitied - so that's good. Ending was REALLY jacking itself off. I get it, but come on. Still liked the movie.

I'm sorry but do you really listen to Disturbed
>>
The substance was more funny than scary
the only scenes that were kinda disturbing were the
teeth pulling/fingernail pulling scenes. Also when the old hag goes schizo while cooking a bunch of rotten food, but even then those scenes pale in comparison to the shit you'd see on 4chan. The big monster reveal at the end was so lame, some YouTube skits have better costumes than that.
>>
>>204154944
Loved the movie until the ending. It was a total cop out and COWARDLY ending that bootlickers will call "a subversion of expectations". I guess they just couldn't write a good ending from Johnny's POV so they made whatever the fuck that was.
>>
>>204154944
i agree with that except i didn't think the yoga scene was anything special. some moments were cute and justified the conceit but overall it was some style, hardly any substance.

You know which movie fucked me up far more than any horror or psychological thriller has?
There's a scene in some mid 00's movie in which a woman lures an unsuspecting man into some empty warehouse with the promise of a good time, asks him if he "likes it rough", straps him unto a medical chair thingy and out of corner pop out a team of surgeons to extract his liver.
Then the woman says something like "how's that for rough?" while the man keeps screaming and trying to free himself. Then she says "thanks a lot for your donation" and walks away.
I keep thinking back to it from time to time.
This simple enough scene has traumatized me far more than Hostel, 8mm, Irreversible or whatever else was filmed with the purpose of dealing a blow to the psyche.

I didn't expect to love V/H/S Beyond as much as I did, the series finally got back on track to being fun and consistent in segment quality. 4th segment was the weakest conceptually, but beyond that it was a great time.

>>204154944
It would have worked better as a short film. It makes for a fun concept for people to build upon and there's some fun kills, but beyond that it felt like more of a relaxing stroll through the Canadian woods while occasionally our protagonist would kill someone or easedrop in on a conversation.

>Ignores all the actual arguments I made
>Decides to focus on one thing I said for the entire argument
Why have you been obsessing over this corporate thing for the entire argument? I made multiple criticisms yet you refuse to even respond to them.
Did you run out of arguments, so instead decided to focus on one insult I used against the film, instead of the actual criticisms? Lets re-read this post you won't stop obsessing over
>>204153084
First, I gave a few vague criticisms, which I expanded on later
Then, I described one scene which I didn't like and describe why I didn't like it (The scene was literally ripped straight from the original film, filmed it worse, and they added shitty CGI effects to make it even more worse in an attempt to make it "new")
Only after this did I make the corporate insult, which was hyperbolic. Obviously I know it's a film lmao.

You phrased it in a way that you already assumed the answer(picture of laughing girls and “I’m sorry but”) which put the anon in a position that would have made him sound embarrassed and lying if he said “no” even if he meant it. Questions regarding Herzog's Nosferatu:
Was there a reason Lucy and Mina had their traditional names/roles swapped? Why was Dracula actively spreading the plague, which would greatly reduce his food supply? And if Dracula just wanted to die and resented being kept alive for centuries without love, why didn't he just stay up until sunrise on his own accord?

Greatly enjoyed the atmosphere and visual direction of the film. Definitely a top 5 vampire movie.

I genuinely have no clue who this elitist loser is. I haven't argued over a film in /hor/ like this before.
I'm pretty sure these criticisms aren't "elitist" either. Can't anyone tell when a sequel/prequel is devoid of creativity? Is it truly elitist to point out an ending being laughably bad?
>You're reasonings behind them
As in, why I think what I do? Here, I'll use the ending criticism for an example. Here's what I said earlier
>>Awful ending, literally feels as if it's straight from a Marvel film
The ending is awful because it's clear they are trying to set up for some sort of sequel. They could have easily ended it during the part when she's running out of the burning church, which isn't truly creative (Other films like Suspiria have had similar endings), but would have still been a better choice.
Instead, we get a forced "epic" moment that implies there might be a sequel where she fights Damien (Because we truly need more sequels, right!?). It would be possible too, as Damien didn't die in the original Omen, only in the third sequel, which they could ignore just like Halloween 2018 ignored all the other past sequels.
Why I said it feels like a Marvel film is because of how it was done
>Guy walks up to the protagonist
>*Dramatic pause*
>"You're son...."
>*Dramatic pause*
>"Damien"
>*Instantly cuts to credits and music

>>204158330
i only add the year if its a single remake, or if the reboot is a series and the original is a single film in which case i throw a date on the original. it works fine, but these fucking halloweens throw a wrench in the works.

nice. i don't even know why Kills is in here and Ends isn't i should delete that one too. 2018 is okay but completely unnecessary.

>Black Narcissus
Season of the Witch is the only Halloween movie I care to watch.
>>
>>204158396
now try to keep the timelines straight

Halloween > 2 > 4 > 5 > 6

Halloween > 2 > H20 > Resurrection

Halloween > Halloween II

Halloween > Halloween > Halloween Kills > Halloween Ends

Halloween 3
>>
>>204158217
Sister Death from last year is pretty good. It’s a prequel to Veronica which also has nuns in it (as teachers in an all-girls school, not a main focus of the story though). Immaculate was alright but a bit trashy compared to The First Omen
>>
>>204158506
2018 serves as an adequate modern finale, Kills and Ends just water it down more.
>>
>>204158365
01. Halloween
02. Halloween 2
03. etc.

You'll get that with Beezel

>episodes of are you afraid of the dark are better than modern horror slop
I haven't seen a single movie released this year that is better than a children's show from the 90s.

I fucking despise the Rob Zombie ones, I hate all his movies, I don't quite know why but I feel very viscerally disgusted and annoyed watching any of them.

that's how i name the james bond movies
>>204158554
they ran with the obvious idea (shut-in laurie creating a death trap house) and i liked that. yeah it was a reasonable modern finale. still completely unnecessary, but you could say that about 70% of horror movies.
>>
>>204158620
I hate the rest of his movies too but I never hated his Halloweens for some reason
They're decent 2000s slashers

the only issue i have is that Kodi doesn't recognize the files because of this but i can scan them manually and adjust the name in the process without changing the filename.
i like Kodi because it can change the refresh rate according to the file's framerate.

oh and the library is cool too.

He's good at making hillbilly horror, but that's not what Halloween is about. Seeing Michael Myers twisted from some supernatual monster to some autistic white trash beating people to death ruined the whole concept.

Ted & Jeff 2: The Ultimate Foe
facing the most prolific serial killer of all time, with the highest bodycount in the history of mankind, in fact, more than every other serial killer in the 20th century put together, likely to literally be Satan on Earth....Ed Gein!
>>
>>204155907
I agree with every good and every bad thing said about this one. Nothing else like it in that regard. I love it and hate it at the same time.
>>
>>204155119
I loved this movie and I was so hopeful for the director but he didn't do anything else. There are basically no watchable German horror movies anymore, sad.
>>
>>204159059
Remember when they made a movie about a crocodile and billed it as the deadliest serial killer of all time for God knows what reason?
>>
>>204159226
Primeval, based off failed attempts to capture Gustav, the maneater croc in Burundi. Kind of weak film unfortunately, too much 2000s color grading and editing. Rogue is a better croc film from the same year.
