I enjoyed it. Although I've adjusted my expectations for the VHS movies. If anything, it suffers from being too long. Probably should have cut 1-2 of the shorts and kept the really good material. Kept it tight. Besides that, I didn't really hate any of the shorts. The dog one wasn't that great. Other than that, they all had something fun and interesting going on. Probably better than a lot of the previous VHS movies.

The Curse has to be the worst horror movie I've ever seen. It's not "bad" but it's absolutely fucking miserable the whole way through and even the actors give off a vibe like they weren't having a good time and the last third just doesn't go anywhere until the movie finally ends but you're not even glad it's over because it means you watched it.

I'm not answering all that shit but I will plug a game (and its sequel) I played years back that I enjoyed a lot, called Costume Quest.
You play as a group of kids collecting candy and fighting goblins in turn-based battles while finding costumes that have give you different combat attributes and overworld abilities.
It can be a little repetitive but it gives such great nostalgia of being a kid on Halloween and the writing is cute.

I think Friday is the best one
>all counselors play differently and if you play with a group you can strategize

>a lot of open spaces and a lot of houses, but they're usually not close to one another, so every time you need to move to loot a different location, you feel exposed

>to get out, you have three basic options (car, boat, cops). apart from the usual "grab item then fix object" mechanic that you can find in killer klowns and tcm, here you get to actually drive the vehicle, which is amazing, it drives like shit, which makes you feel like a dumb horror character, and trying to plan a route is amazing. once jason starts teleporting, that cat and mouse game is thrilling. even better if you're playing with a group and you're talking to each other, because then you're like ok I got the car, Im on this location, I'll go pick you up. But then Jason shows up and maybe you try and fight him or someone sacrifices themselves so the others can escape, there are countless possibilities. Same with the boat.
Cops give you five minutes where you know Jason is going to go all out, and those five minutes are very, very long.

>then the masterstroke is having the chance to actually kill Jason, which isn't super hard to do if you know what you're doing, but it can go wrong very fast

in the other games Ive tried (dbd, tcm and killer klowns), all human characters feel too samey to play, and to escape all you have to do is take item, put item in a place (with a minigame that's lamer than Friday's), then go.

I think I will watch Critters 2 today. It is interesting to see that the ones after this are rated R. I bet that’s why my mom only rented the first 2 movies for me as a kid
>>
I figured that watching this would be a bit boring because zombies have been done every which way since, but damn was I wrong. It actually felt refreshing to see zombies in this iteration, chowing down, staggering around, trying to break into boarded up windows. The folks boarded into the house were a great mix that'll never work out. The ending was great too, made sense there would be a walking line of executioners not asking any questions. Great film, dawn next, obviously. Better than Suspiria

I love Dracula but it runs entirely on coincidences and I can't get over how stupid it is that Dracula's very bite is all it takes to turn a victim into a vampire in the original text. It's why he's locked up and starving the three vampire women, because they'd turn the entire country into vampires if let loose. The blood exchange creates a mental link with a victim here, instead of being the extra step necessary to turn one like in most adaptations. It's just too much.

I also think the opening with Harker before Drac boards the boat is significantly better than the rest of the story.

It's a really strong opening that shows you the original iteration of The horror icon and you understand why he's still popular today as a concept.
