The same way Japanese salarymen are/were essentially forced to get drunk several nights a week after work to keep up with their bosses (the older gens anyway). They rarely portray alcoholism with lives being ruined in their media anyway so they probably wouldn't have the same stigma for piss drunk women like you do.Also Canadian here btw. Cost of living definitely plays a role in how big the drinking culture is in your area. If Koreans had to spend around a hundred bucks a night to get piss drunk like people in Toronto do nowadays I'm sure they wouldn't show drinking scenes as often.
