it happens every year where i watch a movie way too early in the month and it makes every movie i watch afterward feel like shit because it sticks with me too much. They may not be masterpieces but they stick with me for whatever reason. off the top of my head: the Innocents, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Green Room, Night of the Hunter, Vast of Night, Cure, Killing of a Sacred Deer, House that Jack Built.

this year it was Spider Baby, Substance, in a Violent Nature, MADS, Super Dark Times, Alien Romulus.

There are so many elements in Halloween 5 that was good, but then we got the shit they served. But it's more watchable than Resurrection; the only things I can respect was how Michael was able to swap places, the beginning kill, and early 2000's live-streaming which was a big thing at the time due to the tech still in its infancy.

It would've been interesting that Michael Myers had died and that Jaime got "turned" just like young Michael did which compelled her to stab her adopted mother. So we get a female Myers being a slasher; something the Rob Zombie Halloween II hinted at with Angel/Laurie in the end.

And Danielle Harris' acting really carried both 4 and 5.

>>205009491
Nah man, plenty of horror fans like Jaime in 4 and 5. In fact, Halloween 4 is the favorite horror movie for October in several states according to a recent survey. Danielle Harris got emancipated to star in Halloween 6 because they were looking for an 18 year old actress, but she got disappointed at what they did with the character.

Halloween 6 has always been a mixed bag for me. The whole Cult aspect was certainly an interesting plot point but it felt more like Halloween III's Season of the Witch with the whole shadowy cabal than a Michael Myers slasher movie.

It's too bad that Corman never did make a proper Lovecraft movie (The Haunted Palace barely kept anything from the original story). Only with The Dunwich Horror did they for the first time get that kind of setting and atmosphere going. I wish there had been more such movies before the hipsters started to make edgy Lovecraft slop like Color out of space.
Imagine a Call of Cthulhu film from the late 60s in a contemporary setting starring Vincent Price. Man.

>IGN: In that sequence where he's chasing you, you're topless. Did Rob explain to you why he decided to stage it like that?

>Harris: I think that it just goes along with the territory. It's a Rob Zombie, and all the women get naked, except his wife. So I kind of knew that was coming. No, it was really like "It's not about the nudity. It's really not. It's about the situation." This is what happens in horror movies. Right when you're about to have sex or do something bad, you almost die. I think it just comes along with it. I didn't have a problem with it. It didn't really bother me. I think it helped me feel vulnerable, because in my real life I don't really allow myself to feel that vulnerable, because I'm very protective of myself. I think that to be naked in a movie, it just helped me. I didn't want to be covered up between takes. I was like "Just leave me alone, I'm fine." I'd rather just stand here and be cold and be weirded out that everyone's looking at me -- whoever was allowed on set -- because it helped.

Eh, the Green trilogy has some redeeming moments. The 2018 movie showing a traumatized Laurie being a Sarah Connor-lite hardened survivor and how her house was an armory was pretty good. Halloween Kills' intro kills, the 1978 flashback, and the return of Lindsey Wallace with the original actress Kim Richards was great. Halloween Ends' only redeeming moment was how they finally killed Michael; makes perfect sense. No slasher villain could survive that, not even Jason.
>>

By retconning the sequel(s) having Laurie be this crazy Sarah Connor type seemed unjustified because she had no basis to assume Michael would ever return. I liked how her return and characterization was handled more in H20 tbqh. The flashback stuff is the only parts that stood out to me as being somewhat good. Kills was grating to watch and Ends was sort of nothing. Great he's dead...until the next reboot! Again, H20 did this better in my eyes. They were better than Zombie's at least
>>
>>205012366
It really is. Urban Legend is the overlooked 90's slasher. Scream 1 and 2 were fun, didn't like Scream 3 that much but I will defend the twist in the end. Loathed I Know What You Did Last Summer and the sequel.

But Urban Legend and its sequel was fun as fuck. I mean using urban legends to set up kills? That's really impressive.

Also I liked how Urban Legend took 2 actors who played minor characters from Scream 2; Joshua Jackson and Rebecca Gayheart play prominent roles. There was actually a fan theory that 1 of the killers was Gayheart's sorority character which would've been neat.
>>
>>205010983
Is it good?
>>
>>205012608
Yeah interesting theory
>>
>>205012538
>having Laurie be this crazy Sarah Connor type seemed unjustified because she had no basis to assume Michael would ever return
He was caught and imprisoned just like when he was a kid. Her 2 best friends were murdered by this psycho and she almost became another victim that Halloween night. Her PTSD made perfect sense and how she went off the deep end.

H20's characterization makes me wonder if her role in The Fog was actually Laurie escaping Illinois and faking her death.

I never understood why Zombies' version gets so much shit. The 1st one was good and the 2nd one should've continued off where the previous film ended just like the original Halloween II. The first 30 minutes was nightmare fuel...and then we realize it's a year later.
>>
>>205012727
Well think about it. Gayheart's character along with Portia's being the sorority sisters wanting to induct Sidney would've gained them celebrity hood. They would've pre-dated Scream 4's premise in self-obsessed girls wanting the fame and cred of being a "final girl" by killing all these people including Sidney, framing others, and then emerging as the survivors (basically a female version of Bill and Stu were planning at the end of Scream).
>>
>>205012770
Felt like Zombie's Halloween 1 overexplains and shows too much of his childhood making him less scary in the process. The rest of it mostly plays out like the original just without all the things that make the original so effective. The sequel started off good in the hospital but then goes off the rails into ghosts and vision shit and Zombie's nonsense.
>>
>>205012894
I actually liked the childhood glimpses. I mean this is a film where Michael Myers' psychiatrist is Alex from Clockwork Orange while the chief is Chucky. We saw how young Michael tried to hid behind the world with his masks, how his mom went off the deep end when she realized her little boy was gone, and Trejo's character giving bad advice (unintentionally) by telling Michael to go away some place inside (which is what made Michael into the silent hulking beast as an adult).

Yeah Halloween II pissed me off after the hospital scene but goddamn there was a certain death sequence that still haunts me.

Based Part 2, 3, and 4 fan. And what's scary that they all happened back to back from each other. Think about that. Within the space of a couple of weeks, the surrounding area of the lake had multiple kill counts thanks to Jason. Can you imagine the fallout from the media and authorities?

>TCM
I liked the 2000's remake and the 3D sequel with Daddario was pretty fun.

No, that doesn't look right. I think the first one was very low budget, but not quite shoestring. I looked through an old found footage chart from a past thread and it wasn't on there, so I think it must've been fairly obscure. I think I found it looking for movies like Session 9. I think it was a group of 20-somethings and one older man (maybe a professor or supervisor idk). They were trying to record the supernatural happenings or something.
