Can’t believe I was able to see this masterpiece again in theaters tonight. I really don’t see how it gets any better than this, bros.

I think the music plays a big part in that.

Same. Fortunately Argento secured his legacy a good 40-50 years ago.

Before I pass out, I just wanted to point out how crazy it was being so close I could see smile lines on Harper’s face in one scene. I also heard things in the surround soundtrack I’ve never heard before in stereo. It’s a film truly meant to be seen on the big screen. It’s an experience.

I just have to say it: I still think about Jess all the time even when I’m not staring at pictures of her or rewatching clips… it’s ridiculous but I’ve never been so captivated by someone in my life and I can only hope I get to do this every year from now on.

Those are valid criticisms when compared to the original. The remake isn’t irredeemable but it is too long/gay and generally lacking in soul.
>>
>>205041991
The remake isn't even one of the best films of its own year. It's not good.

Low budget italian slasher flick has A) better cinematography b) better sound track c) hotter actresses than modern big budget hollywood flicks
SAD

Even the shittiest of italian exploitation garbage will have better photography and music than any modern Hollywood movie. Italians are artesans, Hollywood is a factory.

This applies to both Suspiria and Phenomena, of course.

Someone needs to do a DNA test on her, she looks so much like Snood it's kind of creepy. She must be a relative.

Why is this a masterpiece?
Consider me filtered, had to bump it up to 1.5 speed 20 minutes in, and I don't see the point of it, felt like a fever dream, without any tits.

The academy was certainly interesting to look at, and it's enough to make me curious about the remake, but as it is, just reminds me why I hate 70s schlock.

Sure, it was shot nice, but what's the point of it? Everyone is overacting, the gore is trash, the twist is shit, thank goodness it wasn't too long and it can be watched at high speed.

I would agree with bauman's opinion on this one. To me the original while beautiful and entrancing has kind of already showed all of its cards by the 2nd half. I would compare it to something like going to a titty bar. The babes would already be half naked and you go there with an expectation to see tits so by the time they show their tits it doesn't blow you away as much. The remake however is like an exhibitionist that keeps its head down biding its time scouting for the best spot to maximize bystander kda. It is totally engorged leaking a trail from the thought alone of the crime it is about commit until it can no longer contain itself and then booooom its coats are completely unfurled from the sheer force of the climax to the audience's horror as they get covered in no no juices. Both films are great but I really loved the remake's final act

2018 isn't actually woke but it is bloated in runtime with that pointless political context subplot. Still higher highs than 1977, though I love that one too.
