Why did he have such a hard on for OJ?
>>
>>205068827
He probably didn't really but thought the whole situation was funny. It wasn't until someone told him not to joke about it that he really went hard at OJ and got him fired over it. Norm didn't give a fuck
>>
>dumb rich yuppy and her equally vapid boytoy get brutally murdered
Of course all of the rich California fags who run TV and such were fucking terrified and furious over it. Though OJ was also rich and connected, so some of them were on his side. Like the other anon said, Norm knew it was a hot button issue and it'd be funny to twist the knife a bit, stirring up not only the public but who knows how many backstage and production type people too.
>>
OJ was a topical punching bag right at the point when Norm was at his cultural peak (Weekend Update, Colin Quinn hosting just after him was a massive step down in quality, the audience barely chuckled some nights)
>>
>>205072871
This. it was the '90s, you HAD to make jokes about OJ, Monica Lewinsky and John Wayne Bobbit.
>>
>>205068827
it's because people went ape shit back when this was going on. best comparison is probably the george floyd trial

He was stopped doing update because they wanted to fire his writing partner jim downey and keep norm but he said fuck that if he goes I do and he did. Jim downey was never told this and found out years later. The media jumped on the OJ jokes as the reasoning and seemed he just rolled with it.

Stop washing your chicken with soap.

It sucks that Norm was fired a couple of weeks before the Lewinsky scandal broke.
>>

OJ was a real jerk

>You know OJ Simpson killed two people right?
>They have this trial and he's found innocent but everyone knows he did it right?
>Now double murderer OJ gets to walk free but if I talk about double murderer OJ on SNL and I get fired?
>Well if that's the case I should've just murdered two people
>

Pretty much.

I read this in his voice, fucking RIP
god-damn

> Norm didn't give a fuck

Reminds me of that story where he and a bunch of comics performed at some college and they were told no dirty jokes because the crowd had children. Norm goes on and starts talking about how painful it must be to be the gay guy getting fucked in the ass. I think either Norm or all the comics got banned there lol

The case itself is more wild than any fictional court room drama ever written. The amount of twists and turns in it are kino from start to finish. Imagine if Travis Kelce murdered Taylor Swift on camera but because the footage cut out for a few seconds people insisted he was innocent. That is almost how crazy it was.

kek that happened in my home town. i was too young at the time to go to something like that though
>>
>>205068827
>Why did you have such a hard on for him?
Haven't you heard of rest in peace anon? Fuck off already.
>>
>>205081690
lol
>>
>>205068827
He had a hard on for anti-authoritarianism and the authorities were telling him he couldn't do OJ jokes.
>>
On account of the murders
>>
>>205068827
Everyone pretended he was innocent when he was clearly not. Someone willing to ruffle feathers by pointing out the obvious is funny. That's basically the job description of a court jester.
>>
>>205084600
That is the exact opposite of the court jester who is suppose to endure humiliation rituals at the hands of the authority figures and take abuse with humor in order to ease the tension in the court so concession and compromise get be done.

because he was autistic and autists do not like illogical shit or taking lies as truth
since OJ was black, the liberal media went all in on his innocence and he knew it wasnt true
so he couldnt let it stand
plus, it was funny
>>
>>205074526
I thought they fired him because of his drinking
>>
>>205085004
That is clearly ironic in a post jester landscape. Look at the paragraph before hand where they cited the actual historical events and called jesters professional fools and documented how the courts regularly threw out even incredibly famous jesters who offended people in the court.
