It can be 1-3mg when used as adjunctive treatment for (bi-polar) depression and 10-15mg for schizophrenia or schizo-affective disorder etc.

Antipsychotics need to be chosen carefully, especially if someone is sensitive to their side-effects. I was once misdiagnosed and prescribed a weak atypical antipsychotic (that has both an antipsychotic and antidepressant effect) and even half the minimum dosage knocked me the fuck out and made me groggy and markedly depressed for 2 days. I discontinued it after a couple of days, was switched to a different, weaker one, then to an antidepressant and eventually the diagnosis was changed and all I needed was a some talk therapy and no medication at all. I responded strongly to every medication and they pretty much doubled the time that was needed to get me out of the gulch I was in due to multiple outside factors at that time.
