I've long been thinking of writing something like an essay about why DFW (David Foster Wallace) would have loved k-dramas, indeed maybe even hyperslop like queen of tears. Some of the starting ground would be what he wrote about sitcoms and how people actually find the repetitiveness and familiarity of it consoling. It would carry the rhytmnic structure of his essays as I imagine some of the writing he'd do on it, which would definitely include a lightly humorous digression of an explanation of the Korean naming system.Overall, there is something inherently funny in imagining him writing the names at all, elaborating on a scene or tropes in a romance show, for example, 'then Kim so and so said to the other Kim so and so'.
