Being meta is extremely lazy storytelling, anchor beings are basically just "if this character is unpopular, the films die" canonized. Which yeah, no shit.

I could create a fictional universe where I am the in-universe god of that reality, and canonically I can make anything happen in that universe, because I am the writer, I am god. It makes sense, but it's lazy hack writing

Nothing in the post explains who or what the anchor is. Post the fucking link next time

This is the best case scenario. It works in the meta-narrative of D&W but it would be a retarded concept if applied to the larger MCU so I hope they ignore it on future films.

I wait for the end of Avengers 6 when the multiverse ends and everything gets reset into a singular timeline.
god it's crazy how much of DC's thunder Marvel got to first, literally everyone is asking for a Crisis type in-universe reset.
>>
The multiverse is an uninteresting anti-concept since it makes the stakes precisely zero.
Why care about some hero doing some accomplishment or defeating a villain when either of them have an infinite versions of themselves.
If someone dies, at this point they can time-travel to save them, pull them from a different universe to get a near-identical copy, pull them out of the past, pull them out of the future, etc...
It makes everything arbitrary and lame.

Like someone said the other day it's like the entire MCU is a JRPG and after defeating the big boss Thanos the party members are now doing side quests of no particular relevance.

And it doesn't help that they replaced all of white male hero characters with lame side characters that are just plain shit.

Even worse now they're pulling RDJ back in with pure stunt casting as Doom, so they even fucked that up right out the door.

>>
Galactus being a sort of "anchor being" - which he sort is anyway in canon, since various cosmic entities have said his presence is essential to the universe - makes sense, because he was the first lifeform in his current universe as a refugee from the universe before it.

Logan as an anchor being, or really any normal person being an anchor being, makes no sense at all. How did the universe exist before Logan was born? He's only 200 years old, the universe was there for billions of years before him. If there was an anchor before him, why can't there just be an anchor after he dies?

I don’t understand how anchor beings work. Wolverine was the anchor being of his reality for example…

But he was born in the 1800’s. All of history before he was born exists. So how is that possible if this reality only survives thanks to him existing?

Also the stakes are laughable for losing your anchor being. Paradox said it takes thousands of years for the universe to eventually die off after the anchor being dies, that’s a long ass time and no reason for anybody to worry more than climate change lol

they don't, they wipe out that entire branch. Every part of that branch that was effected by the variant is thrown to Alioth. If you are also affected by the actions of that variant, you are sent to the Void too.
>>
>>205703771
>I don’t understand how anchor beings work. Wolverine was the anchor being of his reality for example…
It's just typical Deadpool 4th wall meta shit. After Logan, no one cared about new X-Men movies and they all kept bombing. They're just acknowledging that certain franchises only work because of the overwhelming popularity of a single character, and if you try to push that character out of the spotlight the whole franchise will collapse because audiences just won't give a fuck any more.

>But he was born in the 1800’s. All of history before he was born exists. So how is that possible if this reality only survives thanks to him existing?
Again, this is a Deadpool movie and Deadpool is a 4th wall breaking character. Wolverine is a fictional character in a fictional universe. Fictional worlds are created already in motion, the first X-Men comic didn't start with the Big Bang.

>Also the stakes are laughable for losing your anchor being. Paradox said it takes thousands of years for the universe to eventually die off after the anchor being dies, that’s a long ass time
It's a metaphor for how dying franchises keep fruitlessly trying to stay relevant despite all interest falling off a cliff.

What you're saying is logical, but it doesn't actually change how the stakes FEEL to the viewer. It's like the difference between a poor kid with a set of action figures he loves and being a rich kid whose parents buy him every action figure in the store multiple times over.

If something bad happens to one of the poor kid's action figures, he'll be devastated because he can't replace it.
If something bad happens to one of the rich kid's action figures, he'll just shrug and move onto playing with one of his other hundreds of action figures.

It doesn't matter if you think about what the action figure would feel if it's real, because you know it's not real and how invested you'll be in what happens to it will always be tied to how permanent the consequences feel to you, the viewer. That's the whole problem, post-multiverse we just have an infinite toy box of identical action figures and nothing that happens to them matters to the viewer.

I don't think the TVA would be as big of a problem if they were actually depicted as a dangerous and overwhelming force who mercilessly kept the multiverse in check. But they're all so fucking bumbling and incompetent and bad at their jobs that it's impossible to take anything that they're involved with seriously.

You're already in a situation where having a multiverse at all can rob MCU movies of having real stakes, so drawing the eye of the TVA needs to represent a real danger, something to be feared, so that multiverse meddling isn't a get out of jail free card for avoiding narrative consequences and bringing back dead characters.

this is where is comes down to what the individual viewer values. Whether one values every single story throughout the multiverse, whether big or small will rest alongside their view on the stakes in the multiverse. I personally would enjoy a series following a hero who travels the multiverse saving every individual universe that hero can, even if it seems small in the grand scale of things. Because every story has its own value and separate stake.
