What are the best miniseries, /tv/?
ill give this a shotChernobyl obviouslyI kinda like Devs but it falls apart in the finale imo. Still enjoyed it
>>205768282Tales from the Loop
Pure unadulterated kino. Was supposed to get more seasons.
>>205768282Mare of Easttown. Very underrated. You gotta digest a pointless lesbian daugther subplot, that really feels like a quota thing because it doesn't connect to the main story. But taking that away, it's a very well done story.>>205768652God no, it's the most braindead scifi ever created. The only interesting story is the one with the gay nigger. All the other ones are trash>My daugther.. is timetravel>My grandpa... is a rusty thing eco soul...>My kid... is a robot...>My kid... is a robot, but from the perspective of the dad...>My dad... is a securitron...well he changed his mind...Literally and unironically sci fi for people that don't care about sci fi
>start watching show>it's about a poo>around black people and muslimsYou're lucky my racism card was revoked this week anon. I'll give the rest of the episode a chance. But you're asking a lot.

>>205769721maybe The Pacific if you haven't yet to stay in WW2 era, but 100% watch Generation Kill at some pointand The Pacific. Which isn't the same as Band of Brothers but still very good.

The Young Pope.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk_bk6Wm5D4Kinda counts? Its the only screenplay Stephen King has written. Its very 90s, very King, kinda goofy but very intriguing.
>>205768668>RTD shitNo thanks

>>205770057This.
>>205768282As a guy with sporadic eczema, I know what niggers and trannies mean when they say "they feel seen"TTD and TND of course. But I honestly don't know any other piece of media to portray this shit. Also the ending is morose masterpiece.
>>205768623That was clearly a failed pilot. After BSG, SciFi was trying to test the waters with every show being a mini-series, rather than funding a full season. They tried the same thing with that Wizard Of Oz, with their Tin Man miniseries.I liked The Lost Room. It was an interesting idea, with a good cast.
>>205768282great first half, atrocious second half
>>205769683it's.. oksome nice set pieces if you're into that
Not enough people talk about Generation Kill. It is fucking excellent.

>>205772016then your immersion was ruined by something that actually happened.
>>205768282>tfw Gandolfini was meant to play the lawyer but died shortly before shooting was scheduled to startcould have been even better.
>>205768282>What are the best miniseries, /tv/?This one had pretty unique structure, it was split into two shows basically. Half of it was the investigation of what happened and the other half was showing what happened, but instead of doing what every show after L O S T did with flashbacks they separated those halfs into different episodes. Odd episodes were investigation part and even episodes were "flashback" part. That fucking last episode felt like concentrated first season of Terror.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxAHGqkO5mE
>>205771437My boomer dad "didn't get this show" and I couldn't figure out why cause like, what's to get, and I finally figured out it's because he watched it out of order. It was back in the early 00's so I burned it for him and had to split it onto two dvds. He thought it was some pretentious artistic choice or somethingboomers
>>205768282I'm almost done marathoning the first ep, it's pretty good actually, will keep watching. Thanks OPI think I can predict the ending thoughhe murdered her, maybe she said some racist comment or something mean and 'drove him to it', the show is going to be about misleading me into thinking someone else did it and he's innocentGoing to abandon thread so it's not spoiled though, but will bookmark the archive and check if I was mocked If I was wrong.
>>205768282I'll never forget how they set up that creepy nigga that stares him down in the first ep to be the culprit, especially with his friend Bodie covering for him twice, only to chicken out in the most reddit way imaginable and make it some unrelated rich white dude, complete with a cringe Avenger post-credit scene. Way to waste a good show.
>>205768913>Mare of Easttown. Very underrated. No, it's rated properly as liquid diarrhea.
>>205772433Yeah this is excellentI loved how it switched Genres, sometimes it seemed like a moderm horror then it would switch to a nostalgic Soviet era propaganda type of vibe.Sambre a 6 part French series from the makers of The staircase documentary is excellentyou can watch it on BBC Iplayer with a vpn

I've been watching Beasts with a friend and it's great. British horror anthology from the 70's. Really great scripts and acting. Episode 5 has a masterful performance from the guy who played the old cuck in A Clockwork Orange.
>>205775873Ok ill give it a goI actually don't mind chick seriesas long as they are mega bitchy to each otherlike Big Little Lies

Also you learn about mormons.>>205802105I liked The Wire but didn't like it this much. Jon bento was too much throughout and the pacing was too offbeat for me. >>205792531Superior documentary
It was supposed to be an ongoing tv series but after the original author got into a dispute with the network, only the first season was made. It's a prequel to the British cop series with Helen Mirien, set in 1973 when her character first joined the police.
>>205803536>I remember this being pretty goodI do too, shame there was only the one season.

>>205794786Stays reasonably close to the books.
This may sound like a bit of a strange one, but Roots (1977). It has its moments where it is clearly trying to pander to social justice at the time. But for the most part, it attempts to portray what life was like in the South, the good and the bad. It's also quite funny at times, sometimes unintentionally where the tone is a bit off for the scene; like this one scene where they are playing this lighthearted cheerful tune while a slave is being chased around the slave market. Has some great characters, Chicken George is a legend, and a special guest, pic related.
>>205788554>ZeroZeroZeroExcellent show and there was supposed to be a S02 involving Russian mobsters but I guess that'll never happen. Also, Trust is a great mini-series.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trust_(American_TV_series)Trust is an American drama television series created by Simon Beaufoy that premiered on March 25, 2018 on FX. The 10-episode series, written by Beaufoy and directed by Danny Boyle and others, is set in 1973 and recounts the abduction of John Paul Getty III, then-heir to Getty Oil, while he was in Italy.

The series was retarded because they tried to make it look like violent criminals are hardened by prison when its the other way round. They were violent thugs before they were sent and away and stay the same inside.
>>205818990Prison certainly doesn't make them any better.
This was about the early days at Uber and covers how they went from nothing to dominating the industry. The next season was meant to be about Facebook but I think it got cancelled which is unfortunate.
>>205819110You only ever see that level of violence in American or Brazilian type prison since they're full of nigs and muslims. Denmark prisons are peaceful and nice has 0 rape. They crime rate is so low they close down most prisons. Not sure why people are afraid of the reality. Genetics is real.

>>205769488I really liked this
>>205831441Everything that happened in the first episode is a bunch of bad luck coincidences like the writer just making shit up as he goes along. 'this happens'...and then this happens'....and then this happens'.....just a bunch of random shit. It's amatier writing school tier.
>>205821140Great mini-series>>205824040>I didn't much care for Tai-Pan at the time but that seems to be well-liked.Reasonably accurate to the book, which is the best Clavell novel IMO.
i know a couple of cool miniseries but i don't think they're underrated, they're just kind of unpopular or unknown but people who watch them tend to rate them justly
>>205794730Where the hell can I watch this? I have been wanting to rewatch this series for years. I remember watching this on scfy channel out of order back in the mid 2000's.
More Alex Garland kino and will filter a lot of people just like Civil War did.
>>205831692Out-fucking-standing.
The Haunting of Hill HouseDidn't care as much for Bly Manor, but this one was a gem.
