The only jarring thing in the movie visually. I haven't bothered researching the timeline, but my headcanon is she became this extremely bogged after the casting was done and once Eggers found out it would be a nightmare to re-cast both in terms of schedule-wise and him having to camouflage the actual reason for it or get cancelled.
