Made it to VOY: Endgame. Fare thee well Berman Trek. I just have Nemesis after this and then in my trek it's on to nuTrek. Fortunately the streaming era comes to my rescue, there aren't many total episodes left after this. Then, I'm done for a while.
>>214140768No. Bajorans aren't supposed to wear their earrings either, Picard lets Ro wear it as a treat. So maybe he'd cut some boob holes out of a nudist's uniform or something once they became a trusted subordinate.
>>214140768Probably not, due to uniform regulation. Unless the captain was based enough to allow it anyway...See TNG Ensign Ro as a direct analogy
>>214140793so you're skipping ENT?

>>214140823No it's chronological by stardate order. I started with Enterprise many many seasons ago.
>>214140846because Picard is a Klingaboo
>>214140846Probably not strictly against uniform code. I imagine "jewelry" was policed more tightly as a working hazard more than an extra piece of fabric.
>>214140829>How'd you like S4-S7 VOY?Needed more Chakotay episodes. Otherwise, it's all fine Trek. Lots of good sci fi premises.
>>214140571The Gorn Community has returned!
VOY S1-7 needed more Beltran acting
>>214140890I would've liked some more Akoocheemoya too but they made him totally boring after that Hamalke guy got exposedThey should've just doubled down on the goofy fake indian shit imo
>>214140823>>214140865Also I already watched STD seasons 1 and 2 before watching TOS, so I don't have as much of that crap to watch anyway
>>214140905They have NO HONOR
>>214140904>Arguably, it's even worse than Star Trek discovery.while I generally agree with the rest of your post, nah. Discovery is still worse because even as flawed as BSG is, it still looks fucking great. The space combat is gorgeous, the portrayal of the ships, and there is at least a spectre of military discipline in how the characters interact on the bridge.Basically, BSG still feels military (up until towards the end) for a long time in a way that STD always just felt like a super hero vehicle
>>214140931I don't see why all his episodes needed to be Indian episodes. I just liked him as a character. Honestly I was looking forward to Seven but then they just overused her a little too much. However like I said, I think seasons 4-7 did a nice job. I'm not as harsh on Voyager as some people are
>>214140865what an incredibly dumb thing to do, well godspeed anon, I wish you the very best of luck
>>214140571shitposters' bans are up
>>214140965he's not a genuine poster he's just in it for the (you) don't bother.
What even are the rules the UFP outlines for Starfleet personnel?
>>214140965Not this anon, but wanted to add that the miniseries and first episode were also some of the best television I had ever seen. It was mostly a gradual decline from there, and especially in the last half. Whereas I don't think I've enjoyed any of DIS. Admittedly there is the very rare decent plotline but the show can't help but to shoehorn stupid shit into every episode.
>>214140994Nah it was fun watching Enterprise first. Lots of little hints of things to come. Ferengi, Brent Spiner imagining robots, it actually works pretty damn well as an introduction.
>>214141017There's been a rise in (You) farming lately.
>>214140975Well, the boxing episode fucking sucked. He had a few opportunities and they were just bad. Plus, there was a lot going on behind the scenes with Beltran. They kind of kneecapped what was interesting about his character in episode 2 of the show by just making Starfleet and Maquis get along magically. He went from the leader of the Maquis to the "you've got to follow the rules!" guy who was busting Paris' balls on the holodeck for gambling rations. He just becomes "first officer man" after that and kind of generic outside of the indian stuff which is the only thing that remains to set him apart.
I like how Janeway doesn't trust Janeway. It's very Janeway of her. Overall that's my review of Voyager, Janeway is actually a really great captain.
>>214140965>still feels military (up until towards the end) for a long time in a way that STD always just felt like a super hero vehicleExactly this. I wouldn't trust any of the STD cast to be able to operate a toaster, let alone a starship
>>214141098Janeway is bestway, if you're Insaneway, she knows what shes doing never trust Janeway especially if you are Janeway, who knows what that crazy bitch will do.
>>214141098The whole "Insaneway" thing has always been exaggerated. It's VOY's 'Kirk is a manwhore,' ie the common mass misconception people seem to have about the show. There are like 5-6 episodes where she is "Insaneway" at best and I think the show has what, 176 episodes? Some of the episodes aren't even her because she's under alien influence, or it's a duplicate or an alternate version like: Course Oblivion and Living Witness
>>214140553on the grass
>>214141097That's the beauty of Voyager though. One bad episode doesn't really ruin a character. He has a cool episode just before the finale where he ends up meeting a native tribe with Seven. It's a really nicely done episode. There's some lines here and there that he's an anthropologist, and they use that a tiny bit.
>>214140354Then make a request! I have all episodes from all series, plus the movies.
>>214141181I agree. She's a very good captain. She tends to follow the rules and does a good job as a leader of the crew.
>>214141206VOY shines on rewatches because as great as DS9 is, you start to know the major story beats a little too well after a while but VOY being almost entirely episodic kind of retains its freshness episode-to-episode. Having said that, I love rewatching them both.
Do you have one of these yet? You're not a real Trekkie unless you do!
Voyager was litty
>>214141181how many times must we go through this? its not her competely irrational insane moments its the episode to episode whee she switches back and forth on what her stance is, who knows what her stance is? does she even have one? the insaneway meme is very misunderstood by nufaggots like yourself. Having said that...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2c7cHdPKCEand what you nu-fags really don't seem to understand is that we love Insaneway
>>214140768Lwaxana Troi was nude in one episode. Thankfully they didn't show anything too revolting. That lady is scary. Someone needs to tell Majel she's not young and cute anymore.
>>214141336Lwaxana wasn't Starfleet
>>214141098Part of me thinks it would have been more interesting if Janeway was the Commander who had to step up to be Captain with the actual Captain of Voyager being killed in the first episode. So a sort of idea that she feels out of her depth in position, made worse by the situation Voyager is in. I suppose this is part of a wider issue I have that a lot of Voyager seems sort of wasted. The critique has been made by many before, but it seems to squander what the premise should set up by just really being no different to the cruise like feel the Enterprise in TNG has despite the completely different circumstances. Obviously it could go to far the other way to become grimdark or even grimderp at the worst level, but is a grading it could have worked with towards something that was not effectively doing the cruise-like feel and everything resetting. Now sure part of the direction they did go is going to be reflective of the TV at the time and what the network executives want, but I am not really sure how much of a defence that is on a creative level regarding the show itself being judged.
>>214140940Who is your shrink? Must be great for you to still be here
>>214141231>She tends to follow the rulesdamn straight never ever broken the prime directive that lass, maybe bent it a time or two, and by bent I mean shattered splintered and used for fire wood
>>214141325That's not at all true though and I've seen that video many times. It uses the 5-6 episodes I'm talking about and pretty much nothing else. The episode-to-episode inconsistency is barely a thing at all because there just aren't enough Insaneway episodes to take away from her consistently being a competent captain.I say it's like the 'Kirk is a manwhore' thing because that's what it is: a common misconception by people who don't know much about the show.I'm sure you've watched it, anon, but it was maybe once or twice with a shrug because you decided you didn't much care for it, the same way people can "watch TOS" and then think Kirk was anything but a highly academic and serious-minded captain.
>>214141305This episode sounds cringe on paper but it's actually kino. UPN basically forced it on the writers as blatant cross promotion for the WWF but instead they not so subtly took the piss out of it.
>>214141416> its the episode to episode where she switches back and forth on what her stance isanon I am rewatching voy right now and have watched it many many times, and yes she is constantly shifting her stance depending on the episode yes it is true, if you really just finished voyager idk how you missed it.
>>214141364She was on the Enterprise as a guest of Starfleet. That means she has to abide by Starfleet regulations. She was also a Federation citizen.
>>214141364She's a federation ambassador
>>214141416>>214141472Additionally, I will admit that the reason Insaneway has some staying power as a thing is that the 5-6 episodes where she is truly Insaneway are typically BIG EPISODES, like pivotal story episodes. The pilot, Scorpion with the first Borg interaction, Equinox which is another two-parter. That's 3 two-parters where she is inconsistent with her normal character, so I think that is kind of why people focus on her poorly written episodes and ignore the good that counterbalances it.It's like the news: bad news sells newspapers and gets clicks, nobody gives a shit about good news. And I'm not the guy who just finished a rewatch, I'm in S6 of my VOY watchthrough right now but it's kind of been delayed by other things.
>>214141416Idk how else to say this without being insulting, you are a fucking moron.
>>214140576Next: Flatulence.
>>214141502Well, you could start by making some detailed counterpoints instead of acting like I'm a nu trek faggot and tossing ad homns at me. Pretty disrespectful, anon.
>>214141492The bullshit Riker Ex Machina at the end of Picard S1 reminded me so much of this scene
>>214141336they cut the scene with her smearing her grilled cheese across the science station
>>214141491no they are every episode every single one, without fail, I might even doa big write up on the countless times janeway flipflops on her supposed "principles" once i've finished my current rewatch. All the "well it was only during the first 2 seasons" "well it was only a few big episodes" doesn't cut it, Not even a little bit, literally episode to episode, you know what I will for the first time, be prepared it will take some time but after I finish Voy I am on to my ENT rewatch, so I'll multitask. The Many Crimes of Janeway and her Crew of Schizos will be coming...in a few months.
>>214141593>every episodeYeah, you've definitely got some comprehension issues, anon. I look forward to your rambling manifesto so I can tear it to pieces with acerbic cross-examination.Prepare your bootyhole.
>>214141514>Janeway haterThats exactly whats annoying me I don't hate Janeway at all, or Voy, but I can laugh at the things that crew of psychos got up to. The definitive Insaneway the Mad Captain of the Delta Quadrant compilation will be coming. Give me time.
>>214141622see you in a few months for now I'm on s6 so many great insaneway episodes to come
>>214141718The only major one I recall that's still in front of me in S6 is the series finale. Time traveling Janeway is full Insaneway, no two ways about it.
>>214141474>>214141483>Starfleet>on dutyStarfleet is not the Federation. This is like saying "oh yeah since our ambassador in Germany has waist-length hair, our Marines can wear it that way too." No the military has its own dress code to abide by that diplomatic officials don't. Also I don't fully remember the episode, but I don't think she was ever nude when acting in her official capacity anyway?

>>214141862>>214141862I genuinely don't care about the Prime Directive being broken, though. That does not constitute insanity, so if that's the direction you're going, well, I can just counter when other beloved captains broke it.It's about when, where, why, how severely, and if it's justified. A captain acting insane or wildly straying from Starfleet principles is one thing, breaking the Prime Directive is another. If you're really going to do this, you need to catalog how many times EACH captain has broken the Prime Directive, whether you personally believe it was justified or not, and then we can discuss them comparatively. If that's your angle, there's going to be a lot to it. But it would be interesting for the thread to talk about.

This is the entire reason for Insaneway she changes her mind episode to episode. I can't believe you don't get that. Oh and btw that img you posted its called "the Trial of Captain Kirk" its a fun comic all his supposed violations of the prime directive are put on trial, even the gangsters from piece of the action show up they give McCoy his communicator back its funny, whole thing is good fun you should read it sometime. >>214142157All of the great captains broke the Prime Directive 5+ times, though, and nobody calls them insane.Whether or not a captain has violated the Prime Directive is just autistic pedantry rather than an honest argument. Violating the Prime Directive is not inherently wrong, nor is it inherently right. Picard violated it at least 9 times, Kirk at least 6, Sisko at least 5, and Janeway at least 6 times and there are not soft violations, these are hard violations. Granted, only 5 or 6 of Picard's are shown on screen but Seti says he's violated it 9 times in The Drumhead and Picard does not deny it because the obvious implication is that we, the audience, know that his violations were justified. We just watched Sisko violate it in The Circle in the DS9 Watchalong the other night when he ignored Starfleet orders to evacuate the station and directly involved himself in the Bajoran coup. It's just not that simple, anon. Ethical issues are not like math problems that can be solved so cleanly and without debate or nuance taken into consideration.
>>214142267
>>214142335Idk what to tell you but I'll try, you don't understand the Prime Directive you are incredibly defensive of Insaneway, you don't even understand how that term came about, and you won't even address the episdoes I named likly because you don't even remember them, and if as you said you just watched Voy then that is seriously weird, in short, I will make a total write up of all of Janeways many many violations her many many changes in personality episode to episode and her and her crews complete lack of consistency at a later time. No I will not be doing a total write up on all the captains or crew just voyager, no I do not care if that upsets you. Now then by all means continue to defend insaneway she sure needs it.

>>214142723Finally, somebody who gets it. I'm the first anon you're quoting there and I completely agree. Like I said, quibbling over the Prime Directive is just autistic pedantry. All that matters is if it was justified or not.
Barclay sex crimes?
Damn. It was hard to watch Dater’s autistic ass get played like a fiddle in this episode. This is the type of experience that turns naive young men into incels. I’m glad Riker gave him the “ya gotta get back up on the saddle” pep talk at the end to steer him right. I’d be upset too if I missed out on this Yareltoe.
Remember the episode where Archer goes off on Trip for teaching the Cogenitor how to read?If you think the Prime Directive is some unassailable principle and that total non-interference is always the right decision NO MATTER THE SITUATION, you must agree with good ol' retarded Archer in that episode. Sure, it's pre-Prime Directive but he is basically defending its principles. ENT has more than one dumb episode like this.
>>214142987that wasn't even a Prime Directive thing. Archer was just genuinely mad that they wouldn't be able to use their sex slave to get knocked up

Sisko is definitely the single biggest violator of the Prime Directive. Constantly meddled in the politics of alien worlds, embraced being a religious figure to aliens, bombed planets, hunted down innocents and even participated in an political assassination. The guy's a fucking menace.

prime directive was only relevant during the “we have to re-use other show’s sets” era of TOS where they had to go to a roman world or a nazi world or a gangster world or a cowboy worldby TNG it is just retarded and a complete afterthought
>>214143103>embraced being a religious figure to aliensHe knew it was vital to getting Bajor into the Federation and Starfleet was pragmatic enough to begrudgingly accept it. Besides, not taking ownership of your interference and walking away from it is probably just as bad as interfering in the first place, accidentally creating a prophet figure and then metaphorically killing it. That's where Picard's militant atheism in Who Watches The Watchers went wrong.
>>214143216nope
>>214143046Good thing I'm doing the opposite and using a scenario where he was explicitly wrong and treated a crewman like shit over it?
>>214143216Not true. Pen Pals is a great TNG episode just because it shows a case where the crew is 100% justified in violating the Prime Directive
archer was justified
The most "Insaneway" moment of Voyager isn't even one where she violates the Prime Directive which just further shows how dumb the latter is to use as a measuring stick. It's in Equinox where she is threatening the crewman of that ship with being left to the aliens they've been using for fuel. She opens portals and leaves the room. Chakotay has to confront her in the hall and basically shout her back down to reality, in which case she eventually relents. She doesn't break the Prime Directive here, she just goes right up to the line and stops, but it's definitely her most unhinged moment of the entire series.Again, the entire premise of this argument is that you can't ignore 170 episodes of a character acting as a rational captain, point to 6 where she's a completely different person due to bad writing (typically from an outside script) and then say she's "Insaneway."
>>214142638Brian Fuller either left or was ousted, and someone incompetent tried to fill in the gaps. Probably Kurtzmann

>>214144786Nemesis, First Contact, or The Motionless Picture?
>>214144843i don't think he has a specific fetish unless you want to count liking Bajorans. i think he's just horny as fuck. he has 7 legitimate children and god knows how many bastards.
>>214144843Hes based
He's taken his proper place on the Mt. Rushmore of Star Trek Captains now!
>>214140576>Uuuh is that bad if I like Strange New Worlds? Just finished watching the latest episode, it was fun. I eagerly look forward new episodes each week. Many Cats here Fucking LOVE Strange New Worlds. They are at war with themselves to not admit it though.
>>214144959>no new episode>didn't do anything noteworthy in any of the last onesyeah I'm thinkin' uhhh automated spambot

What does Morn do? Like what is his job? Why is he on the station?
>>214145264he's insanely wealthy so he doesn't have to work. he just likes to hang out. and join violent mobs as they arise.
>>214145285He keeps Quark employed
I thought he was a smuggler or something
>>214145237rock, it, man

Very dashing. One of Cardassia's rising stars. Graduate of the Cardassian Military Academy, smooth-talking junior member of the Detepa Council, and like your friend Shakaar, quite a lady's man. Especially with other officer's wives.>KIRA: Including yours?>DUKAT: Mmm. A year ago he wouldn't have dared, but now? I think the first thing I do when I'm returned to power is to demote him. Assign him to the Cardassian Embassy on Breen. I hear it's bitter cold on Breen. And we Cardassians do despise the cold.
this is such a good and memorable episode beloved by all but the "bplot" and hamfisted racism bullshit is so cringe and not believable. also the newlywed thing seems kind of tacked on too. what could they have done instead?
>>214145899The racism subplot is key to the story and pure kino. The wedding thing was just fluff that they could've dropped entirely.Firmly establishing that Spock is "one of the good ones" is important for the audience, particularly the predominantly white audience of 1966.
>>214145877>oh my God Kira's here with me I have her all to myself as a captive audience hahaha what should I talk about to make her love me? how about the guy who's probably getting KEKING ME RIGHT NOW that'll melt her panties his mind is truly an enigma
>>214145940That's cause he's half human, like Obama was half white, which maximized mass appeal.
>>214146014Still gotta let the audience know it's okay to like the yellow devil-eared non-white guy
>>214145940no. Stiles is a monkey retard and acted in a way that is not believable of a Starfleet officer on the bridge. being alarmed kr skeptical INITIALLY would have been one thing but he literally chimps out at his superior officier for no fucking reason except apparently having PTSD. fuck off. that shit was STUPID
>>214146032here's what I think they needed for it to work for me: instead of a scene of him of him and Kirk talking about how his family was killed by Romulans or whatever, show a scene of him already being cold towards and not trustful of Spock. and then you can explain that since his family was killed by Romulans he just has a thing against xenos in general. going from just treating Spock as a normal person to bring a bigoted freak just because he physically resembles a Romulan is too dumb for me.

>>214145556After all the seething ITT, I decided to watch SNW 101. I thought it was very good! Maybe the series gets worse from here, but it sure had a strong beginning! Can any of the oldtrek geezers tell me why I'm supposed to hate it? And I mean actual details, not "argle bargle nuTrek bad REEEEE!!!"
>>214146334Can any of the oldtrek geezers tell me why I'm supposed to hate it?No, they can't. Most of them have not actually seen a single minute of the series.
is anybody buying this?
>>214146413Not even a little bit
>>214146413It is about as convincing as Quark in drag.
>>214146397Still, I'm giving them a chance. Handling conflict with reason is preferable to a mob-style melee. At least, that's what Trek tries to teach us.
>>214146479He convinced the sluggo cola magnate just fine
>>214146494The Sluggo guy was just a goddamn degenerate
>>214146479he was convincing though
>>214146502Takes one to know one.
show me a female Ferengi that's not Moogie and not nutrek. has there been one?
>>214146599Yes, one of the early FErengi episodes. The next one in the watchalong I think even, where there's a female waiter pretending to be a man who gives Quark good advice
>>214146599There is a reverse trap.
>>214146641I mean. they are pretty androgynous so yes I would argue "Lumba" is a convincing female
>>214146750Well that one is specifically setting out to look like a manI've never looked up the actress.. I'm afraid to
So, no oldtrek geezers have a reason I was supposed to hate SNW 101? (Just the non-reply replies which, I'm assuming, are implying that I samefagged. For the record, I didn't. Seems like projection on their part.) I'm 10 minutes into SNW 102 and still, nothing particularly offputting, except for the dyke haircut on the helmsperson.
Bad haircuts are just a Star Trek staple THOUGH
>>214146786it's really a moot point I guess. Bashir can convincingly alter people to look like totally difference species so of course there's no reason he couldn't make Quark a convincing female. if we go by Moogie we know that the females don't have long hair or any other obvious distinguish sex characteristic besides like what, smaller ears? easily altered. Brunt would have been fooled too if he didn't already know better.
>>214146786Fear not, fearful one. You should be willing to seek out new life and new civilizations. Have you learned nothing from Trek?
>watch this thing you know you will hate so you can tell me why you hate it
>>214146902So, no reason given to hate SNW, just irrational prejudice. So very not in the spirit of Trek. It's like you learned nothing from all those hours watching oldtrek.
hes sick of getting banned I guess lmao. the new ruse is being "on topic"
>>214146985Could be worse
i saw 30mins of wrath of khan. it looked neat. and khan looked nothing like i imagined. i need to watch the movies ;s

>>214147079>being on-topic is a "ruse"Do you even realize how insane you sound right now?>>214147268But they hate it although they've never seen it. After somehow powering the first two seasons of Discovery (which featured Starfleet officers crying on a regular basis... I mean, really?!), I assumed I would hate SNW, but tonight, I decided to give it a try anyway, and so far, I don't hate it.
