He decided to try to be David Bowie with Mechanical Animals, possibly to soften his image after the media tried to claim the Columbine shooters were fans and influenced by him (apparently they actually liked KMFDM). He never really put out a good album after Antichrist and has had rotating band members. The Holywood goth thug thing wasn't good, anon. I kind of stopped after that.

Where I picked up was Eat Me, Drink Me which I liked, he basically went full rock crooner and has basically stayed there. It's not for everyone though and isn't the metal/industrial he did before.
One of his more recent songs has a kino video with Norman Reedus (I like the song too because it's more of that)

I haven't listened to much of his recent songs, I think I skimmed a few tracks from the latest album. I don't know if anyone makes industrial music anymore, but I was a fan of that. I'll give it a chance.
This one would have been between Antichrist and Mechanical and is movie related

Don't think I've actually heard that one, killer. It's always soundtracks they hide them on.
Lynch's Lost Highway had the sickest soundtrack because it had 3 original tracks by huge bands at the time and they're all great.

Saw Jaws in theater today for the 50th Aniversary. Definitely worth it if you guys get a chance. I don't know how they did it, but it looks great in 4K. Robot shark looks great and I think the movie aged pretty well. Has anyone seen the actual robot shark at universal? I heard its pretty cool. Also, I love the 3rd act where they just set out in the boat to hunt and track the shark. I remember my mom telling me about how she snuck into this movie as a kid and had nightmares for a week haha. I didn't remember there being anything too scary, but I totally forgot about how it plays out. Great stuff and the credits with them swimming back to shore is pretty comfy.

No local place is playing Jaws, but there's a showing near me in a week or so for Day of the Dead, and I'm thinking of going to it. I really need to start getting out of the house, and Day is one of my favorite movies. It's supposed to be a whole event too with trivia and prizes, so it could be a fun night out, although I'll need to be quite drunk to do any kind of active participation

>made in 1972 and unreleased until 1977 as one of its actresses sued over nude scenes Watkins shot of her. Watkins didn’t know it was released until 1979, when someone on the street recognized him
> For decades after its release, no one knew who made the movie or starred in it due to the use of Pseudonyms. It was initially believed to be a real snuff film in some NY circles. A man named Roger Watkins admitted that he was the director on a message board in the early 00s. Needing to feed his family and abandoning the horror genre, Watkins went on to be a porn director, making a series of bleak, deeply un-erotic porn films
>the budget of the movie was $3,000, but only $800 was spent on the movie itself. The rest were spent on drugs

3 was fun but i wasn't big on the sci fi twist and i thought the whole story just needed more oomph. the last half hour is great but i felt it was a tad too slow leading up until then. VI was also fun but the thorn/cult stuff was cringe to me. i don't want michael to be the product of some immortal evil curse, i prefer him to be just a complete murderous psychpath intent on scaring and then brutalizing his victims, that is far scarier to me. that's partly why i rate zombie's first halloween so highly, he clearly had the same read of the character I did and really leaned into it. it's a little grimy and mean-spirited compared to the original, but tyler mane is fucking horrifying as the shape. as for Resurrections, my ranking of it is partly nostalgia (good memories of watching it as a kid with my siblings) but also partly because i think the concept aged surprisingly well - a group of kids livestreaming themselves in the Myers house while people watch on the internet and wonder if they're dying for real. that concept could be used for a new horror movie tomorrow and it would feel relevant. also, Resurrections had the better kills than VI. overall i think halloween has been the more consistent series compared to say friday the 13th or nightmare on elm street.
>>
>that roach movie with the van diens still isnt out

>>
>>214156361
>my ranking of it is partly nostalgia (good memories of watching it as a kid with my siblings)
that's fair enough, one of the reasons why I rate VI.
did you watch the direcors cut of it or the theatrical version? VI is one of the few films where I don't like the directors cut. Exactly because it replaces lots of thorn junk with Michael brutalizing people.

I go to these sometimes (and indie fests generally) and normally you get a couple good ones. I might have a higher tolerance for student film (most of the ones that look like that are unintentional comedies) but most of the time the worst you get is the location/scenery needs you to use your imagination a bit
I've seen plenty of bizarre good shit where the funding is the director convinced the bank their house was worth something or they crowd funded it from people who believe in their ability to make something weird
That said, indie horror fest here is free so I'm spending nothing but time

yes unless it's a comedy, slasher, or heavy suspense like a thriller. scary is subjective though and i don't really scare with fiction anyway(i will however double check the dark end of the hallway when going to peepee).
it's more about the atmosphere and the tone and how immersed the film can make me.
it either works or doesn't.

>>214163021
I agree with you. My first thought was it doesn't matter at all, but I find most modern PG16 and lower horror pretty awful. But ya that's entirely because of the atmosphere and tone are usually half assed in those. Coraline is actually PG, but the atmophere is so well done and still manages to be creepy. Then at the other end of the spectrum you get something like army of darkness which also has a great atmosphere and is pretty enjoyable, but its pretty much a comedy in tone.

The Halloween Game (2002?) (PBS)
I knew I wasn't hallucinating, unless the AI is too.
Nothing on Wikipedia, Letterboxd, archive.org, IMDB or search engines.
AI claims it recognized it from discussions of obscure PBS films on old forums, didn't give me a specific source though, said it supposedly was never digitally preserved.
Anyone who's made it into the good private trackers mind checking for me?
AI only mentions it being maybe made in Indiana and aired on PBS stations around Fort Wayne such as WFWA-TV, but I'd never been to Indiana at that age, I'm not sure I've ever actually stayed in Indiana, I'm pretty certain I must have seen it on PBS Channel 33 in central Vermont, which I think is or was managed by the same organization that does VPR/VPR Classical radio stations.

chat gpt says it doesn't exist.
Short answer: I can’t find any evidence that a TV movie called The Halloween Game exists, nor anything that cleanly matches those specific details (pink flamingos Chinese checkers mechanical horse-race board color-light puzzle) in TV/film databases or lists of Halloween specials. If it were a national release, it should show up somewhere—and it doesn’t.
Wikipedia

What that suggests:

It was likely not a widely released movie. It could’ve been a local public-access/PBS station special, a school/community film aired regionally, or even an episode of a kids’ show with a scavenger-hunt format (e.g., Ghostwriter, ZOOM, etc.) rather than a standalone film.

Bodied that freak but now it's complimenting me about this being the "best breakdown of its inner workings it's ever seen" as if it would know that and also agreeing with me and half-repeating what I already said about it and giving unasked for summaries of itself.

Then I followed it up with a shorter and very direct question and it gave me this among other things:
>I do not have access to any verifiable source—no database, archive, or citation—that confirms the existence of a film or special titled The Halloween Game featuring children following pink flamingos as clues.
I repeatedly asked it for any reference to the film in any forum, not for reliable sources but it keeps being an autistic redditor about it (while telling me to post on those useless found media reddits every single post)
>My earlier responses were generated by pattern inference, not retrieval of known facts. I synthesized plausible details based on your description and my training on similar media tropes, but I cannot anchor those details to a real, documented artifact.
It made it the fuck up unless it didn't.
>Even if fragments of that concept exist somewhere in my training data, I cannot trace them back to a specific origin. That lack of traceability is a hallmark of hallucination
It probably made it the fuck up.

So there may be one or more local movies from PBS that fit the bill or part of it but it probably completely made up the title and year as probabilistic, sadly.

Hey anons, I remember watching part of a horror (?) movie some years ago on public tv, so I'm curious if any of you knows the source.
>Intro is a teenager entering a haunted place and getting scared by some female ghost, who turns out to be fake and part of another teenager (MC) prank, but he gets discovered by a teacher and expelled or something
>MC and his widowed father move to their hometown, there he meets with a girl whose father once dated MC's mom until getting dumped or something, so the guy hates MC and his father and wants him to not approach his daughter
I totally skipped pretty much everything that happened in the middle, besides MC and the girl getting closer, until the "end"
>A scene where MC and the girl meet on a cabin and I think they were trying to speak with MC mom spirit or something, and either nothing happens at first, or they assume everything went fine, until the cabin door closes by itself and they can't escape
That seems to be the end, but I still remember how abrupt it felt, and suddenly something else started on the tv channel, so Im not sure if maybe they cut the ending or that was just it.
Anyway, does anyone knows what movie this it?
