I'm on season 4 and she's still doing the meme voice even though it's established the rest of her race don't speak like this. Do they ever let her stop and just speak like a bonger?

Crazy to imagine that guy was going to become a diplomat in the future. I wonder what brave Klingon deed he did to be granted the rank of Conversation Master.

All this Dax episode does is remind me how much better DS9 would've been with a male Dax who could actually be Sisko's best friend

I liked the premise, but they didn't do right by Dax. Having the relationship between Dax and Sisko go from mentor and student with Curzon, to equals with Jadzia, and finally to student and mentor with Ezri was cool, but they didn't do enough to show their friendship until season 6. Jadzia hung out with Quark more than she did with Sisko. They should have thrown a baseball or something around.
>>
Why no more platonic soulmates relationships in later Treks like Kirk and Spock? It’s kino.
>>
>>214174234
It's because jadzia sucks. Her episodes aren't even about her, they're about the worm or some unfinished business of a previous host. Ezri 's better because she's cuter, has her own backstory besides the worm and when she talks about her previous hosts she babbles and sounds idiotic which fits because trills are stupid. Jadzia tries to sound wise talking about her previous hosts but trills are stupid so it doesn't work.

>Federation is taken over by evil parasite aliens that get exploded with the most gore ever shown on Star Trek at the end of the episode
>those translators getting turned into spooky skeletons
>lady getting phased into the floor
and so on and so forth, too lazy to go through and cherrypick every example that serves my argument
>>
A show isn't grimdark just when something bad happens. And it's not not grimdark if you put in some funny moments. It's about the overall tone and outlook of the world and people. Bladerunner and Alien are grimdark because everyond is just a pawn in a dog eat dog world. In DS9 the main characters defend freedoms and a free society, uphold family and friendship amidst danger and propagate these values even to enemies and when they fail to live up to it they are sad.

The tech manual books said the aft part of the runabout could be swapped out for different modules (but that was never shown). So having the transporter in the front makes sure it's always there.
>>
>>214179298
they kinda "show" it in the sense that sometimes they have the torpedo mount and sometimes they don't
>>
>>214179298
It's a pitty that we never got to see them walking into one of those variable modules. It could have been a small lab, a medical bed or a cargo compartment with special stuff. But they always do all the shit from the cockpit.
>>
>do an honor killing
>I'm placing a written warning into your employee record Mr. Worf >:(
>>
>>214179298
The central corridor should be retractable or temporary, it takes up unnecessary space from the module. The Eagles from Space 1999 just had cockpit in front and engine in back when unloaded.
>>
>>214179888
That's the one thing I don't like about the Runabout. You need the corridor to reach the aft compartment and if it's not there it *needs* to be part of the swappable module. You could have a bigass cargo module but if it's full you can't get to the dining room. I would be cool if the aft compartment could also be detached. Then a "really big"® cargo module could be attached, maybe with a big door at the aft for unloading.

I met her irl at a convention in the early 2000s and that woman looks 20X better irl. It's like the camera hates her or something. In pictures and films she looks her worst and fatter.
She was wearing this black little dress and she was fucking tight. Smelled great too. Perfect boobs with a nice cleavage. She also felt less fake than other cast members I saw over the years when singing autographs.
Frakes is great on stage telling stories.
Spiner is a funny asshole cunt. It's obvious that it's on purpose and people love it.
Stewart... was okay back then. Always polite. But you could tell he wanted to be somewhere else.
Gates isn't good in a live setting. Very awkward, not funny or charismatic, but nice anyway.
Burton is fine, but you feel like he thinks he's better than Star Trek. He's the only cast member I got that feeling from. Not even Stewart was like that.
Dorn is the funniest. Very self-deprecating and willing to make fun of himself and the show, but in a way that still feels like he loved every minute of it.

UPN was a mistake. It was everything Star Trek was not. It's quite an achievement by Berman that Star Trek didn't transform into something like Buffy. A transformation that Paramount ultimately achieved with nutrek. Still, on UPN Star Trek stagnated and always tried to replicate the success of mid TNG but they lacked the inspiration it had with submission scripts and the in-house writers had no idea how to come up with new genre-defining stories and formats.

Star Trek’s signature of optimism and moralfagging was really going out of style in the early 2000’s. People wanted grittier stories and a plot that kept you guessing. The fairy tales that TNG was known for were increasingly seen as quaint and childish. But now television is so serialized and takes so long to make, that people are craving episodic monster of the week shows again.
>TNG/DS9/VOY: 8 year runs, almost 180 episodes each. Still remembered decades later.
>Stranger Things: 9 year run, 42 episodes. Will be forgotten two months after the last season.

Their society probably more or less indoctrinates people to want to move around the Federation and LARP as all these professions. They realized having hyper-ghettos, gene warriors, and AI overlords wasn't good for stability and force this sort of Utopian lifestyle through culture.
