36h until flychads will get redeemed and can be smug for all eternity
>>214373155that's not true, it's not how it works and also fuck you
>>214373162guaranteed to be a disappointing filler ep following the kino that was ep5
>>214373162I can;t wait to laugh at everyone when the fly is absolutely boring and the episode is not about it at all
>>214373142SPOILERS FOR THE FINALEthe plant eats and makes copies of people, it will eat half the cast
>>214373162Oh boy I can’t wait to see the fly for half a second and then get an hour of terrible writing from Noah about how unique and special he is for having a kid.>>214373241This would be kino but it would absolutely ruin the setting/continuity so he’ll probably do it.
>>214373219it will be another flashback episode where the jew and the xenobiologist try and remove a normal ass housefly from the zoo so it doesnt contaminate anything
>>214373215The prop crew have definitely seen it and/or are Alien fans because godamn are the sets and props absolutely on point.
>>214371948>show up in someone else’s property>immediately make it all about you>insist that you’re the true fan and anyone who doesn’t like it isn’t a real fanMan, no wonder this guy can’t write convincing parasites and made the eye thing a hero.
>>214373292>be prop guy for Romulus>everyone loves your work>stay on for A:E>you get to do 10 new sets AND the Nostromo>finish lovingly recreating the Nostromo and expanding on the tools and robots used>Noah walks in>“YEAH OK THEY NEED TO USE AN IPAD AND THE INTERNET AND A CELLPHONE AND THEN PETROVICH IS GONNA FACETIME A GUY AND THEN THEY WATCH ICE AGE AND LISTEN TO SMASHING PUMPKINS AND…”
>>214373091I don’t know how years of Disney haven’t clued you in on this, but these people don’t WANT to be working on this IP. They view the IP as a holding that comes with serfs (that would be you) who will watch whatever has that IP’s name on it. These writers don’t actually like the IP. They want to be telling stories about themselves and resent that instead of just doing that they have to be lord of the manor and dress their story up for their serf population.Noah genuinely thinks the fact that he has a toddler is infinitely more interesting than the entire Alien franchise. Ditto, like you say, with God of War or The Last of Us. Ordinarily, these people would just be inflicting themselves on audiences at Venice or Cannes but because we’ve rebuilt the studio system, they’re now assigned to ideologically shepherd known IP’s.
>>214373162>36 hours
>>214373091Might be a product of the current time where while raising a kid isnt quite uncommon(unless youre south korean) its not something mundane as back some decades ago when virtually everyone above the age of 20 had multiple kids. Combine that with people not having quite as "adventurous" life experiences either and the sociopolitical scene being relatively stable(unless youre ukrainian/russian), sans passive aggressive economical slapfighting, and then raising an ankle biter is now the most interesting part of their life experience. And as goes the saying, write what you know.
What was that cartoon show about people stranded on an alien planet with horrible alien animals and plants? Anyway, that show had cool new alien designs and concepts in every episode while this show here only comes up with what, 3-4? And those are the most generic ideas possible. A tick? An alien tick. whoa whoa whoa, who's that Asimov who came up with this new idea?
I didn't like episode 5.>let's remake the original film but worse
>>214373706>rich nepobabies raised on mass media are bad at writing interesting stories or charactersI guess it makes sense when you frame it that way.
>>214373706I suppose you’re right; these people are such privileged nepo shits that I hadn’t considered that a lot of their lives might genuinely be so boring that simply having a kid is the most interesting part.God, that’s depressing to think about.
>>214373364To be fair, I think they've done a decent job of combining future tech as envisioned back in Alien with what future tech as we envision it in 2025.
>>214373771Scavenger's reign? Interesting to compare that to A:E because in addition to the freaky aliens it also had a "robot becoming conscious" side plot which kind of fits with Morrow's "when is a machine not a machine" question
>>214373259>but it would absolutely ruin the setting/continuity so he’ll probably do it.kek
>>214373795noah said he made ep 5 as the alien movie of his dreams kek
>>214373915Yes, that one.
>>214373991that's fucking sad
>>214373142sneks?
>>214373991>in the alien movie of his dreams the nostromo crew is brain damaged and incompetent>and also jonesy gets no screen time and fucking dies off screenThank god he wasnt in command of the actual one then.
>>214374056plz no
I am enjoying this show
>>214374141the kot should have gotten an epic fight scene with ocellus. kots are the ultimate hunters, this needs to get acknowledged in alien.
>>214374191for me it's more like I'm enjoying this (shit)show
>>214373991It was a decent alien movie. Man the sports who hate this can't make up their mind>NOO STOP HAVING EARTH GEOPOLITICS AND AI SHIT>NOOO YOU CAN DO JUST THE ALIEN EITHER
>>214373331>>214373364>>214373427>>214373706>>214373862You guys are making stuff up in your heads to get mad about again.
>>214374209im pretty sure ocellus cant control dead corpses and that cat was already on the verge of dying when they met after the crash
>>214374228Not anymore. Not after Hawley's interview for ep 5.>It ignores Prometheus and CovenantIt also ignores Alien 3, Resurrection and RomulusBasically Alien Erf is in an alternate timeline with Alien and Aliens. We will most likely never see anything else set there, so I don't really care. Plenty of franchises have multiple timelines / parallel realities >It actually had the aliens land on EarthThat's not an issue>It shares the same setting as Blade RunnerThat's fanfiction, but is not issue either
>>214374270true, but they could bave set something up earlier. after ocellus escaped and before the crash.
>>214374318All evidence is to the co trary atm lol.>>214374338I mean canon-wise. The fear was of an outbreak and the fall of civilization. If they keep it contained there's no problem.I like what Ridley said about how the xenomorph should never be caged / contained like a lab rat. He really disliked the glass box in Resurrection.
>>214374338I get your point, but it could have been massaged into canon even at that level. Not anymore though.>>214374393Well, as long as the "main" Alien universe is not affected I don't care about Star Trek 2009 style reboots and alternates. We will always have the mainline movies and they can't touch that.
hawley is such a fucking retard holy shit
>>214374209Unironically wouldve been a fun throwback to that speech Morrow gave about the cargo being priority>"nothing is more important than the mission, not me, not you, not the fucking cat">the fucking cat then proceeds to be the one who comes closest to taking down one of the xeno cargo
>>214373912It speaks to a lack of imagination, though. The question “how would you solve problems if your microprocessors were worse but your space stuff was better” is fundamentally interesting and the answer is not “iPad but it looks kinda shitty”. The whole point is that they don’t have the iPad!
>>214374056I miss BAD POOOSSY posting.
>>214374644Absolute kino>>214374714Something something For All Mankind?
>>214374644I'd pay to see that.>>214374738You want the good ocellus, but need the bad xenomorph?
>>214374775
>>214374318It’s clear that Noah wants him to be a mix of Sam Altman and Elon Musk, so he’s obviously meant to be retarded, or a savant at best, because Noah hates those guys and wants to write a show where everyone realizes that they’re actually stupid and contemptible. My headcanon is that he was a very talented junior executive or researcher who was able to somehow seize control of a small company that’s only recently grown somewhat large under his leadership, so while he does have skills at making product, he’s also high on success and is really hubristic about it, which is why he’s aggro’ing WY.
>>214374748SENPAI did this well until it devolved into Soviet-wank. Isolation also did it really well; it was literally cheaper for WY to fly Amanda out to the station to get a physical device than it was for them to radio the data back.Tech just looks fundamentally different in a world where space is cheap but CPUs are expensive.
>>214373292the sets are either copies of the original movie, or empty concrete corridors. the new xeno is a horrible redesign, leathery, dry, single color and poorly constructed, instead of shiny, transparent and slimy, and even the new xeno teeth look "fake", faker than the original.
>>214374808This would also explain why he made the logo a retarded teddy bear. He’s good at shipping product but is way out of his depth in taking over a rapidly growing business.
>>214374808The stupid logo change, the rebrand to “PRODIGY” and the renaming Bangkok PRODIGY CITY seem to be jabs at Musk, yeah. His general personality is making fun of Altman.
>>214374842>Tech just looks fundamentally different in a world where space is cheap but CPUs are expensiveThat's a good observation and a nice sentence.
>>214374919This comes across as stupid seethe from Noah, so I elect to ignore it.
>>214374935yeah but before that it was lole a terrarium for a mildly dangerous spider
>>214374935Yeah in the dumbest way possible. How many reports do you think they had that said they bleed acid and decided not to make those containers acid proof.
>>214375055they didnt expect the bugs would turn on one and mutilate each other to escape, despite the fact they discovered the xenomorphs are very capable of learning and adaptingyeah its a retarded excuse but whatever
>>214375055Shouldve made it out of whatever Wendy's meat hook was made of
>>214375134Would've been smarter to have them act obedient to Gediman and let his hubris be his downfall thinking that he tamed them be the reason they escape instead of TKing the noob ayylmao
If they didn't know there were huggers in the eggs, why did they collect the eggs? If they knew there are huggers, they must have encountered and killed or dissected some, so why didn't they know they bleed acid? Also Kirsh seems to know a lot of the stuff about the huggers by reading about them on the ship, namely about their lifecycle. But who gathered that information? Shit already went wild when the huggers broke out.
>>214374228>It ignores Prometheus and Covenant>It also ignores Alien 3, Resurrection and RomulusMaybe I'm not giving the writers enough credit. These are some genius choices. All of those listed above sucked.
>>214375221>instead of TKing the noob ayylmaotop kek, poor thing, still can hear its begging. Didn't think they could make me feel for a xenomorph. Resurrection needs to be vindicated.
>>214375134>they didnt expect the bugs would turn on one and mutilate each other to escapeThis was retarded too, even if it didn't helped the escape. You wouldn't put multiple snakes/tigers/bears etc in such as small cage as you know it would lead to a high risk of violent infighting, so why do it with an alien species?
>>214375267welcome to how classified knowledge works
>>214375477Xenomorphs are eusocial and they knew so, even in cramped spaces such animals dont fight if theyre from the same colony.Snakes/tigers/bears are solitary and territorial.
>>214375627damn that anon got BTFO
>>214375627>Xenomorphs are eusocial and they knew so, even in cramped spaces such animals dont fight if theyre from the same colony.Well, they couldn't (and obviously shouldn't) have been so sure of that, but I guess it's a recurring plot point in the Alien saga that scientists act nonchalant and retarded around xenomorphs, while actual scientists would be a hundred times more careful with alien lifeforms

>>214378063Just like Aliens the best Alien film.
>>214378063The way it needs to go is to let the show dunk on the Xenomorphs as much as possible, and then at the last second they sit back up like Undertaker and BTFO everything else.

>>214378732Yeah, me too. The design is neat and there's a good reason they became *the* inspiration for almost every other "space bug" design in popular sci-fi nerddom onwards. But the adult xeno is absolutely not that horrifying on its own, at all, even just comparing it to some of its contemporaries like Carpenter's Thing, etc.
>>214377159you are fat ugly incel who will die alone and childless
>>214378711I'm forced to agree with you. Perhaps Hawley felt the same, hence the introduction of a new and grotesque little alien to provide new icky moments in between xenomorph appearances. I'm sure it serves a more important function in terms of the plot, or least I'll be surprised if it doesn't turn out that way.
>>214378840Jokes on you I don't want kids.

>>214374863NTA. I think the environments are great but I share your view on the Xeno. The design needs more darkness and slime.
>>214378958Why would the xeno even care. It has no eye to be attacked. Any penetration of it's skull would release acid.
>>214373241They can use it for unlocking the secrets of mind-transfer technology!

>>214377573>>214377544The wide base is good for standing but kills the egg look. Make a little stand out of plastic using an X pattern that intersects and a divot in the middle. Now you have a good stand for the clay egg. Then focus on the paint job which is what will sell it. Many replicas go too dark, remember that they’re translucent.

>>2143792085 season incoming
>>214378829> the adult xeno is absolutely not that horrifying on its ownIt can be. The Romulus birth scene was fantastic. Big penis vagina birth. Giger would have been proud and coomed. It also managed to be menacing for a while doing the Mike Myers thing which is how it worked in Alien as well. Just appearing and slashing, slow inevitable tread towards your doom. The fast Aliens xenos that die in droves and move awkwardly become dumb bugs. The franchise lives trying to cope with these very different incarnations. Alien Isolation made gangbusters with the slow stalker for instance. In this show it’s really neither. It sometimes gets to do the Mike Myers appearing and stabbing but then it’s bravely running away, getting tasered and otherwise jobbing to humans and androids. Which makes it a bitch. Which makes it non scary. Aliens was action not horror. It’s an uneasy coexistence. The Romulus engineerlien went back to the stalker roots and body horror. So they double dipped a lot between Alien and Aliens xenos. (Movie had other problems). Fans are split on what they want as well.
>>214379010Ocellus has a bitey mouth on her bottom. She was trying to bite a hole. The xeno knew she couldn't really hurt it.Gif related.
>>214378316Wow!
>>214379142It's either xenojobber or pet baby xeno, you can only choose one for A:E
>>214379299That's my biggest problem with Aliens. Cameron reduced them to just being an allegory earth bugs with a queen and hive. At least with Ridley the big chap was what it said on the tin "Alien" It was killing sure, but we never really understood it or it's motives. It simply was, with every movie after stripping away the mystery and with it the horror of its presence and ambitions. Why didn't it kill Jonesy when Ripley left him behind, it knew of the escape pod, and to hide, was that because of intelligence gained from Cain when it was birthed? The hell did it do to Dallas (deleted scene non withstanding)
>>214378958I'm so glad i dropped this garbage show a few eps back. love to see these little new turd nuggets it's serving to it's audience, further enshittening it's own full diaper.
>>214379453> pet baby xenoOh god you’re right they coulda gone full Baby Yeed with this. Get your plushies Mommalorians!
>>214379114Ty anon and anons who r egg lovers
>>214379299I still stand by my statement that the xeno is not that horrifying in the original Alien movie either. What sells it there is the absolute defenseless nature of the ship's crew, but that's it. The xeno has all the advantages, except for numbers, the plot gives it the "perfect" ground to hunt it, and it still doesn't act all that horrifying once it's fully grown. Yes, it uses smart predator tactics and has some neat baseline biological tools, but any (trained) security officer with a modern gun (not even a futuristic sci-fi gun) would BTFO it in that scenario. The depiction in Aliens is IMHO a very logical conclusion, and even there, the xenos got the initial advantage because the marines were denied proper info, prep and tools. The xenomorph absolutely requires plot armor or a big advantage, especially on a larger scale, in order to be a credible threat, like many Alien fans want(ed) it to be.
>>214379482>Cameron reduced them to just being an allegory earth bugs with a queen and hive. They're far smarter than Earth bugs. They probe defences, flank, have scouts, take orders from the Queen...
>>214379607Cheeky
>>214379556Part of the horror element is that it does seem to be a problem that could have been solved by some jarhead with a machinegun or a grenade launcher, except the Nostromo doesn't have that. And then in Aliens we actually see these guys handle dozens of Xenomorphs, but it wasn't enough to stop them.
>>214379556Being eaten alive is one of the top horror tropes since the beginning of humanity.>but any (trained) security officer with a modern gun (not even a futuristic sci-fi gun) would BTFO it in that scenarioAnd likely kill everyone as the ships hull would be compromised by the resulting acid.
>we cant afford eva mendez>who can we get?
>>214379482The xenomorph was already a fucked up space version of a specific type of parasitic wasp in the original Alien designs, when they were working on it with Giger and co. The mystery and vagueness did 95% of the job for the xeno in the original, which, while smart movie making, doesn't actually make the xeno any better. In the OG design and script, it was already "just a random bio-weapon beast" and the "cosmic horror" was supposed to come from this realization of the audience, that fucked up weird things like that (or even worse) might actually exist in space somewhere, evolved naturally even perhaps.
>>214379299I really like when the xenomorph lurks in the background, like in Romulus when it decided not to attack Moner to bait the others into opening the door. I also absolute love it when it shows itself slowly from behind something, again in Romulus right after the elevator falls down, webm related, my favourite scene form the movie by far. These are very unnerving moments for me when I see them for the first time.
I just had a random thought. What if Nibs can sort of hear the Aliens? Not to the point Wendy can, but what if Nibs thinks she is pregnant simply because the xeno was growing in the lung and was giving off happy baby growing squeals and chitters, and Nibs could hear them? She thinks she has a baby in her because she is sort of attuned to the growing baby alien?
>>214379632>And likely kill everyone as the ships hull would be compromised by the resulting acid.Lure it into or next to an airlock, or some part of the shit that's "disposable" and kill it there, ideally vent it immediately as well. There, acid problem "solved"99% of the difficulty of the situation in Alien, was the fact the crew had absolutely jack shit to work with, morale was fucked and the xeno had almost every natural and circumstantial advantage it could have. Even then, they still potentially could've resolved it the same way Ripley eventually did, possibly even much easier. But that's not what made it into the movie, yadda yadda.
>>214379726>what if Nibs thinks she is pregnant simply because the xeno was growing in the lung and was giving off happy baby growing squealsThen she is still a psychotic and should be boxed immediately.
>>214377525i thought it would be something relevant to today, like being inspired by palmer luckey and guys like him, young billionaire entrepreneurs. instead this guy just talks about how elon musk sucks at space travel and EVs because he became a republican lol. truly intelligent stuff.
>>214379299>>214379682This specific moment is the scariest for me and conversely my favourite in the whole movie, webm related
>>214379556Well I kinda get your point although there are lots of horror options we never get to see. For instance an intelligent killer that also make more of itself, infiltrate spaces. Aliens is one way to do it but they don’t really do anything after overwhelming the colony. We don’t get to see the takeover either. People are just disappearing from a community (and being made into eggs/hosts depending on which biology you want to run). Something is stalking the night leaving few traces but some shed skin. Now you have a vampire movie essentially. The xenos hide and take out machinery to keep people in the dark about them until it’s too late. This isn’t changing the monster at all just the methods. With the black goo mythology you have even more body horror ways to deal with it. It spreads like a plague, corrupts bodies, births more night horrors. Tons of horror stories are based on this and it easily fits Xenos as bioweapons lore. I don’t think there’s a problem with the creature or the design just the implementation. And the 5 different competing lores about their form and lifecycle and how they act that really fuck things up. Give them more cunning and less running around in a beatemup. Lean into the weird biology more. Give them new abilities or parts. Try the “host affects xenomorph body” thread that was waved around in Alien3.
>>214373142She is a robot with super speed super durability and super strength that little alien baby posed absolutely zero danger to her plus she was actually communicating with it the 100% human going up to a unknown alien was is and will always be completely retarded
>>214379504NEat bunny idea. 3d printed facehugger to friend some months ago
>>214379644That's just part of the human element to designs. We're going to pull from what we know, even the second jaw was taken from Moray Eels. My point was that Cameron just went too hard and took away that mystique it's one thing to take design cues aesthetically from real world stuff it's another to just say yeah it's actually a space wasp with a queen and everything. The less you know the better, letting your audience guess and and theorize (with actual mysteries not that JJ Abrams/Lindelöf mystery boxbullshit) can leave them far more terrorized than showing how the sausage is made. Lambert's death is still horrifying because we can only let our imaginations run wild with it.
>>214379796>For instance an intelligent killer that also make more of itself, infiltrate spaces. That's basically xenomorph version 2, a.k.a. Species, where Giger got to make a more "accurate" version of his Necronom and biomechanical nightmare people. Basically, the true intelligence filter is tool-use, which the xenomorph simply doesn't do (despite absolutely having the build for it) outside of the queen (a little bit), however, proper tool-use *and* a humanoid build/shape basically boils down to "human plus" level of alien threat, which is the "norm" and overdone way beyond the point of cliche in sci-fi. So I understand that there's basically no "winning" here. Either you literally get a xeno with a gun (regardless whether it's a built-in biological, or a mechanically crafted one), or you get a slightly more "intelligent" space bug, there's not much of an in-between that can be really done there.
>>214379764Precum absolutely gushing
>>214379920IMHO, the mystique was lost or not working (for me at least) in the original Alien already. The space jockey and the state of the crashed ship is already pretty evocative of what happened and what the situation is/was, so it's not that big of a leap for the audience to "reduce" the xeno into a "simple space bug parasite" and devalue it that way. Therefore Cameron identifying that the "horror" of the xeno for the one trick pony which it really is, and course-correcting into scaling up the numbers and pitting them in a more "equal" match, where he still needed to give them a lot of plot armor to remain a credible threat for a sequel, was the right idea, even if the OG creature design and idea had more potential, as evidenced in Giger later reusing the same inspirations in Species.
I have only watched Alien, Aliens and Prometheus. Is there any other good film in this franchise?I've also watched AvP 1 and 2. The first one was okay.

>>214380113Scaling the numbers was a good idea but he just turned them into 2 int w+m1 machines who just nab people for the Queen's eggs. It bottlenecked any lore and theory we could've had to ants but human sized.
>>214380510I was hoping it might be ye olde expectation subversion, but after reading this >>214380292 it LITERALLY might be humans are bad guys omg, we were the walking dead all along... brao Noah
>>214380551>It bottlenecked any lore and theory we could've had to ants but human sized.Perhaps, but it's clear nobody else on the production/franchise/studio side, or from the original designers (other than Giger, even though he also still liked the Queen and insectoid aspects Cameron eventually went with for his vision) saw any problem or took any issue with the "devaluing" of the xeno. Like I said, it (the xeno) was never meant to be that "deep" despite many anons and fans wanting that, the Cosmic Horror of the xeno was precisely just that "holy shit, think about what a common space parasite from another solar system or galaxy could look like" and the male rape impregnator aspect, that's it. Either way, you could still plausibly increase the xenos' intelligence in any other sequels, etc., if you really wanted to, but there's really not much point in that, unless you want to give them the potential to achieve human level tool-use, at which point they would "devolve" the other way around into a more fancy version of the "Star Trek rubberhead alien" type #450+
>>214380553How is he even gonna frame that as remotely surprising at this point? The whole show has been a competitive greed duel between boy kavalier and that weyland yutani woman. Even the side character humans have been pretty unambiguously painted as shitheads. Morrow is willing to manipulate and threaten children despite having kids of his own, the science couple are experimenting on kids likely in exchange for some kind of advanced fertility treatment or some bullshit, most of the crew of the deep space exploration vessel were either creeps, bigots, or incompetent. He better not pull some game of thrones Daenaerys bullshit and have Wendy ride her heckin cute and cuddly pet alien to kill everyone in the prodigy compound.
>>214380797>Either way, you could still plausibly increase the xenos' intelligence in any other sequelsI was kind of hoping when they reveal that Ripley had a mix of Xeno DNA the Xenos would get a bit of her intelligence as a trade off so we'd see them doing some more tricky thing like the Elgen sticky trap. But they also ended up fodder for guns. It's why I appreciate the Dark Horse comics on some of their work, especially Dr. Church's story.
>>214380874>He better not pull some game of thrones Daenaerys bullshit and have Wendy ride her heckin cute and cuddly pet alien to kill everyone in the prodigy compound. This is going to be the ending. I can see it already.

>>214381491they are cool, but let's not pretend they are better than Aliens kek
>>214379682Something has been bothering me about the Romulus scene. Compare that to this one. Cailee just doesn't sell it. Dunno what it is. There might be a mismatch between the xeno and her reactions, a puppet that is less articulated maybe or something else, we know she can act, so it's not that. Her reaction feels off, unauthentic while Siggy gives a 10/10 performance and makes you believe it.

>>214381714agree. i think it's the weird camera position in romulus and the fact that in alien 3, sigourney is sitting on the floor against the wall (claustrophobic and trapped), whereas in romulus they are awkwardly hanging in a giant open elevator shaft (maybe vertigo inducing but not really claustrophobic). or maybe it's the lead up to it, in alien 3 it takes time to happen, and it happens right after brutally murdering the "lead" character in a small space and ripley is caught off guard with nowhere to run, whereas in romulus there isn't that much tension in that particular scene, just a ticking clock and lots of noise
>>214382238It's going to be image related.(insider here)
>>214382127Aliens is pretty lighthearted/goofy yet its well liked. Resurrection has pretty great cast and comic-book/MTV visuals that I enjoyed. Watch it for the weirdness of Jeunet.

>>214382127It's odd, but has some good visuals and scenes. Also has one of my favorite actors in it: Michael Wincott. Sadly, Joss Whedon did the script so you get proto Marvel dialogue that sours the movie. Has some of the goriest kills outside of AVP:R and one of my favorite chestburster scenes.
