I think its going to be really simple with how lighting fast these episodes are paced like Peace Maker and alt Harcourt are making out and happy then Abodawaja shows up and Harcourt looks at her menacing like and calls her a mongrel or something and her entire demeanor changes and thats where the switch happens. This season would be more emotionally impactful if there is no twist at all. The other universe isn't evil. Like the twist isn't they are Nazis but his brother and dad learn he killed that universe's Peacemaker and they get mad at him and reject him from that universe and try to kill him so either universe he can't have what he wants. It's fucked up because he actually did see much more engagement in Season 1. He feels so fucking secondary and ancillary here, which is wild because he was Gunn's favorite character to write when it came to the first season.
Part of it may just be the truncated episodes and having less space where characters just hang out.
The closest we got with Adrian being treated like a part of the group this season was when they all drunk together on the roof and even then no one's side-barring with him or there to hang out with him. Everyone else breaks off into their own little groups.
Meanwhile, Season 1 had the whole shooting shit in the yard with Vigilante, Peacemaker has a threesome with him, he's there for the raids on the bug bases, he's integral to the whole prison plot. Feels like night and day for his character. Wish he had more gags this season than "Want to hear a X fact?" and everyone groaning about it.

Even though I like the first season I am cringing a considerably amount less, so yes, superior season. Stakes feel higher. I don't like how some characters are unrepresented but 3 episodes left, I can see some satisfying inclusion there. The only reason I knew of Bloodsport before The Suicide Squad was that he had shot Superman with a kryptonite bullet once and that he was an assassin for hire. In the comics, he really did shoot Superman. But in Gunn Superman, the new one, I don't know how this is going to work or if it will be ignored.
