>>
>>214667440
everyone fucks up
my point is especially with modern stuff they think he is a joke of a character but he is not. he is a professional and while emotional works hard to keep his emotions under control and make appropriate decisions give the data available
and this is more the writers but they do a good job at lest in these early episodes of having a junior officer being in error and kirk correcting them appropriately
>>
>>214667419
NTA; I'm the anon you told earlier that Kirk was perfect. I'm not sure he's my favorite still, but fuck, that moment with Spock and McCoy in Tholian Web where they watch the video Kirk has left for them.
>>
>>214667503
>he is a professional and while emotional works hard to keep his emotions under control and make appropriate decisions give the data available
and then shatner reads the preamble to the constitution in the hammiest, most scenery-chewing way possible and that's what everyone remembers and not the good stuff
Avery Brooks did the same thing for Sisko. Sisko is a remarkably balanced character especially given what he's dealing with professionally and the challenges of raising a family but everyone just remembers ITS REAAAL and YOU BETRAYED YOUR UNIFORM
>>
Watched Insurrection last night, having not watched it since it was in theaters. I thought it was pretty solid. Good story, good villains, good pacing, etc. Yes, it plays like a normal TNG episode with a huge budget, but I would've taken a hundred movies like that.

when I had watched TOS for the first time I had seen TNG and DS9 beforehand and I thought no one could top Picard as a captain and he was one of my favorite characters and I quickly realized Kirk kind of shits all over him like I was amazed by how much more I liked Kirk. the thing is he is not only just as compotent, intelligent and professional but he is on top of that shows so much *emotional* intelligence too. just the way he takes care of people and also doesn't take himself too seriously. he has a really whimsical sense of humor. his emotional sensitivity is portrayed as a strength I just love that. it makes him much more of a role model imo. like not only is he a good captain he is one of the best friends you'd ever wanna have. I love Kirk.

Yeah, on rewatch, I've been realizing that there's a lot more humor (especially from Kirk) than I had been aware of previously. Kirk is rather traditional. In the image I posted above when he hugged the yeoman before possible death that is something a man should do with a women in that situation
in the modern world I don't know if that would happen and too many men and women have perverted ideas about sex to express themselves in a healthy way.

He says he has the first 100 figures planned out and everyone who's ever shown up on screen is getting made at some point.

I was in the shower this morning thinking about making a holodeck display with the arch one side of the shelf and then the rest will be black with the yellow lines and I can just add in terrain and props and figures from other lines, making it modular and constantly changing.

I haven't been this excited for a toy line since McFarlane released a Power Girl.

>Vulcans are depicted as having a subtle green or bronze tint to their skin in the Star Trek universe, which is a visual cue for their copper-based, green-tinted blood. While the original series' makeup artists didn't consistently apply the green hue due to technical limitations and the prevalence of black-and-white TVs, more modern Star Trek series consistently show Vulcans with this characteristic

I just started a DS9 rewatch. I saw this one like a day ago. And it does end with a bit of a 'we'll see you again' tease. Which obviously never eventuated. Because everybody considers it to be a very bad 'sode. Many folks say it's DS9's worst. But, honestly. Rewatching. I didn't mind it. It's like the first fun 'sode. Most of the ones leading up to it are a bit of a boring slog. And I do like the ending. How Odo and Quark are thinking the Move Along Home player are all dead. And it's all high-stakes serious. Playing for their lives. And then it ends. And they're all OK. And they're all surprised to be OK. And ponytail goatee alien laughs 'of course, it was just a game'.

Let's talk about this genocidal fucker!

Star Trek: Enterprise S1.E13 ∙ Dear Doctor

>Valakians are an advanced civilization (just no warp speed)
>Incurable disease wiping out their entire population
>They know aliens exist because they frequently visit their planet
>Valakians send out ships to look for help
>Enterprise finds their distress ship
>Takes it back to their home planet
>Phlox refuses to help despite having the knowledge and resources
>Menk are relying on Valakians as hosts; Phlox prioritizes Menk interests
>Valakians are good people, reached out for help, and were betrayed
>Phlox's actions result in the genocide of the Valakian people
>Some lives are expendable according to Phlox's agenda survival of the fittest
>This calculated thinking leads to the downfall of civilizations
>Phlox's refusal to help is a stain on his character
>Compassion and justice were sacrificed for NOTHING!!!

Dr."Only the master race should survive" Phlox

why would he ever do that? the Q are above that they give people tools to solve probelms themselves they don't snap their fingers and solve it for them, literally the only time Q did that was saving them from the Borg in Q Who? and the difference is its a situation he put them in to show them what they were up against

oh yea good point forgot about the asteroid thing, guess it was a favor for helping him, but yes its rare, I am getting a blank here but he did something nice for voyager too after the whole civil war thing, janeway asks him to send them home and he refuses but he does something nice for them, can't remember what exactly, same when janeway takes care of his son he does them some small favor at the end again cannot for the life of me remember what it is

Q did that at least a couple times. They aren't "above" anything as a race they do what they please.
>>
>>214671972
he did it once in Q Who? and it was a situation he got the enterprise into in the first place as a leson, small favors like showing janeway earth or giving data the ability to laugh for a moment is just a small gift it isn't on the level of saving an entire race, the Q only "fix" things they have done they don't ever solve peoples problems for them.
