The main issue with the series isnt just the writing. Its typical modern slop writing. The other main issue is that they cant build any suspense. The direction sucks. All those lab scenes (on the ship and in the island lab) are laughable bad. They try to make suspense by having the humans act like bumbling idiots and the lab security being worse than a farm enclosure. Its lame and feels cheap. Its a monster series but when the monsters come its just so half-assed. They kill 10 guys in 10 seconds but it just feels like nothing because there is no struggle. That ship scene from alien covenant, that gets posted here, looks funny but its a struggle for survival. The series is missing that. When the WY commandos walk into the facility through the main gate (WTF), and get instantly surrounded by 50 guys, it feels like absolute b-movie slop. At least shoot a few guys. Come one, you have 50 extras with guns. Same with the scene on the dock. A tiny dock and suddenly 50 guys teleport into it. So bad. And when the action is happening 40 guys just stand there and watch. Who directs this shit?$250m and it feels like they did not hire an action director and stunt and fighting choreographer.
