Also, Kerry Condon is my new celebrity crush
>>
>>214828851
It was like a parody of Rush. I agree about Kerry Condon though, she's hot in attainable way.
>>
>>214828851
The director skillfully worked around the annoying black foil, its wasn't too bad. The black foil still took his pound of flesh out of the heart of the movie though.

lmao yeah, his entire "genius" strategy is just crashing into stuff and bringing out the safety car, which, according to f1 fans, are fake as hell

>think the movie is gonna be your typical underdog-triumphing-over-the-odds story
>actually it's about a broken man, traumatized by his injuries and failures
>his only salvation is the small moments during the race where he feels invincible
>it's not even about winning for him

Pure kino, I don't care what anyone says

F1 is pretty batshit, Verstappen punted a car off the road after being ordered to let him pass a few months ago. That would have been seen as crazy if Pitt had done it in this film.

He tapped him, calling it a punt is exaggerating. It's not like he intentionally put him into the wall at Copse because he knew he was losing the championship. Only a real asshole would do something like that.
>>
>>214828851
saw in imax, was nice. favorite part was the hidden joke in his first F1 race where if he had to beat lance stroll, because of course if he can't even beat stroll then he might as well kill himself. then of course his comp is upgraded to hamilton and verstappen.
>>
>>214828851
I don't get F1. it seems like gay faggot yurotranny shit.
The stuff they were doing in pic related where you needed a homogenized car seems cooler. I want to see races where someone has to buy a fucking honda civic and race it on something other than a left turn
>>
>>214831603
it's an unrealistic boomer power fantasy
60 year olds don't drive in f1, they physically can't compete with 20 year olds
Hell most drivers are completely washed by 30

this movie was so annoying to watch, you can tell everyone was trying their hardest to make the most winning-feel-good story. it's so god damn bland made with A.L. help.

You can watch sportscar racing, it still exists. The 24 Hours of Le Mans still happens every year. Same for the 24 Hours of Daytona, and Nurburgring, and Spa. There's also many other big sportscar endurance races (12, 10, 8, 6, 4 hours) throughout the year in WEC, IMSA, and other series. And, you can find dozens of other shorter mid and low budget sportscar races every weekend. If you want to learn more, visit >>>/sp/motor/sp/ort

Thats why you enjoyed it. Its a good movie for people who don't care about F1

Fernando Alonso has been killing time for two decades and raced in that wacky Dakar Rally for shits and giggles. Now babysitting Stoll way at the back of the grid, these guys do hang on.
>>
>>214828851
Its good, a bit funny how hamilton produced it and then made himself the final antagonist or whatever. Honestly, was a bit weird to see the real racers instead of fake characters, but its fine I guess. I do wish the last race had a more fictional badass moment, like where he wins by some miracle move or whatever, not just racing normally.
>>
>>214833548
>I do wish the last race had a more fictional badass moment, like where he wins by some miracle move or whatever, not just racing normally.
Sadly that's how a lot of modern F1 has been. The start is interesting, you get some action around pit stops, but other than that nothing much happens unless someone totally bins it.
>>
>>214833182
>can only win by cheating

really couldn't get much into this moral vaccuum of a movie

whatever edits this has, it has to show brad pitt doing those neck planks on the bed, that was kino. same as all the exercise montages, the tenis ball exercises, all those moments were perfect kino, felt like watching an 80s movie

F1 fans, especially European ones, were so fucking faggy with this movie
they shit their pants so hard about every aspect of the plot, it's like their preferred version would have been a bunch of team execs arguing over dinner for 2 hours with no scenes of racing

its 100 times better than this shit, F1 feels like a feature film of drive to survive in steroids

not at all

>I do wish the last race had a more fictional badass moment, like where he wins by some miracle move or whatever, not just racing normally
The supposed "miracle" is when Sonny's car gets crashed by another racer, and the officials have to call a timeout. But since that happens way before the final moment, you feel like there's no miracle.

>>214834236
Ironically, you can't be a true F1 fan to enjoy this because you'll lose all suspensions of disbelief

The black character had NO story arc or growth

>Cocky Black character thinks he's the best, but believes the car isn't good enough to match his skills

>Gets into Conflict with Brad Pitt

>Black character Crashes car, and gets into accident because he didn't listen to Brad Pitt's advice.

>Brad Pitt makes the team better without him and they rise in rankings.

>Black character recovers and crashes car again directly into Brad Pitt. Both crash.

>Somehow the white girl car engineer thinks the black character should be team lead.

>Black guy is put in charge, and his attitude doesn't really change. He crashes some more.

>Somehow everything is fine. They win 1 race.

>the end.

Wtf did I just watch?

I honestly thought after the Black guy got sent to the hospital after the crash that it would teach him to be humble, and listen to Brad Pitt. That they would work together. Instead he emerges from hospital and does the same exact thing.

Why? Are the writers afraid of giving him a real story arc?
>>
>>214837783
He's definitely /ourguy/. It's weird how he took so long to find success, seems like a lot of bad luck. Tron and Oblivion were let down by their writing, Only the Brave flopped, I don't even know why, then finally Top Gun succeeded.

>I don't get F1.
F1 used to be so much cooler in the 70s, 80s, and 90s

Teams would experiment with different engine designs, different tire sizes, and different number of tires. It was fun to see all these zany ideas. Some actually worked very well.

But then in the 2000s, The European F1 commitee started making all these many rules and over-regulating the sport. They banned more powerful engines because they were afraid drivers would go to fast and lose control. They banned certain tires. They set rules on number of tires. They started forcing standardization to make it fair. They banned independent teams from competing unless paid tens of millions of dollars. All designs for cars must be pre-approved now by F1 committees.

They also banned American teams from entering for like 20 years and kept it Euro only. It was only recently that the American GM company was allowed to enter a car into F1, and that was only under threats of GM, fans getting very upset at F1 stopping innovation, and potential Tariffs.

All the new rules ruined F1. Old F1 was so much more fun and innovative. Now every car is bland and looks the same. Especially with that new dorky safety cage on the car that blocks the middle view of the driver.

>>214838060
His style of kinetic filmmaking (lots of movement, seeing people in cockpits, switching to first person view, etc) works best when machinery is involved and is the main part of the story.

That's why Top Gun worked. The cockpit views were kino and the gets dogfighting were great.

That's why F1 worked. The cockpit views and cool racing angles.

His next movie needs to be about boats, or another racing movie. Or maybe tanks. Just something with machinery.
>>
>>214828851
Boring shit, bad acting, cringe overload, clichés galore. And the hero is a fucking bum who starts a bum and ends a bum.
'See you in a few years' to his love interest.
