Dr Goonien Bashir
Watching TNG for the first time, just finished Season 2. A very enjoyable season overall with 'The Measure of a Man' easily being the best episode of the series so far. I've heared the show gets good in Season 3.
>>214845586S3 of TNG is where you start getting character episodes. A Picard episode, a Worf episode, a Troi episode, a Riker episode, etc. The characters get a lot more fleshed out in the process and even though there's a character focus, it's not like Nu Trek where they just cry about their feelings -- their development happens through an actual Star Trek story where there's some encounter, or diplomatic intrigue, etc.
>>214845574It would be called GoonGaiGar.
>>214845586what did you think of a matter of honor?
>>214845632I thought it was a solid episode, seeing Riker take on some Klingon traits was cool. The ending when he gets his ass beat to protect the captains honour was fantastic.
>>214845619>it's not like Nu Trek where they just cry about their feelingsWe need a collage of Michael crying.

>>214845696Kek, Thanks. You ever notice how stares at people like she's trying to make their head explode?
>>214845702Great to hear that, i'm really enjoying the show so far. It has had some episode that have been extremely boring or just out right stupid at times. But for the most part i've found the first two season very solid.

>>214845586I enjoy the first two seasons but there's no denying that S3 makes a sudden jump in quality in not just writing but also acting and dialogue, it becomes a lot less stilted and clunky

>>214846132Being fair to the devs, there's no way they'd have included nutrek shit if it weren't mandated by Paramount. Also, for what its worth, they always make nutrek mirror characters complete villains while you often join forces with mirror oldtrek to fight them. Your mirror doppelganger shoots Captain Killy in the face and watches her disintegrate with abject indifference.

>>214846263Hey, I'm not trying to convince you to play STO man, the other two points are completely valid and not playing is completely understandable.
>>214846403I kind of want to play again but I hate that there's no top tier dps ship that deals damage with beams instead of cannons. I want to just do damage with my phasers and torpedos, I don't want to deploy fighters or any of that bullshit -- never felt very Trek to me
>>214813162
nigga heil wheaton
>>214846467I pretty much only do broadside beam builds these days, could never get cannon builds working, always died too fast. Don't do fighters either, but thankfully some dreadnoughts allow you to launch frigates which make way more sense as a patrol than a swarm of fucking shuttles.
>>214846547And freighters? What of them?
>>214846475>wheatonOh shit, Im from Wheaton, Illinois!
>>214846617Not sure what you mean, there are some you can fly, but I don't think any are T6, so it's just like an aesthetic or RP thing. There's a couple you can call in with a transponder, too.
>>214846547That does make more sense. Are there any Constitution or Galaxy class ships in the game you can build like that and buy on the spendie market? Also, the freighter guy is memeing. Be careful, he's dangerous.
>>214846475
>>214846661
>>214846681you get them in base game, but once you start dealing with shit like the borg and the dominion etc they aren't worth much
>>214846719I know that, anon, but they also release variations and shit in the spendie market with the unique tier 6 traits or whatever the fuck they are, was wondering if there was a good beam shit with one of those classic designs. Somebody told me there's a Terran Constitution class set up for cannons but... cannons. And another one was a carrier.
>>214846719
>>214846681Oh god, I forgot about the freighter thing. Connie has a few good options, Galaxy has a ton of options. You can run practically anything as a beam boat as long as you have some repair abilities. The Mirror Universe bundle that's $60 includes a T6 Galaxy dreadnought that's excellent for that kind of build, plus you get to use I.S.S. on any ship.>>214846695If it makes you feel any better, there's a special player ship called the Tuffli freighter that can give unique high-reward DOff assignments that make it very valuable
>>214846547STO was way better before they nerfed the shit out of science abilities. You used to be able to run disabler builds that took shields offline and made enemies more susceptible to damage. Not anymore. Devs fucking hate science and engineer toons.

>>214849712Sounds right, since at one point some scammers impersonate Janeway, Tuvok and Chakotay. Also, word got around that they had a dumb-as-rocks Talaxian cook who was a particularly easy mark.
Voyager's crew was way too bloated, They had 3 Spock archetypes.
>>214849679>not TrekOh, but it is. You can't separate Star Trek (and Star Wars) from pedo. That's one reason "true fans" really make my stomach turn.
>>214849775>biGay. Just say gay.>Are you claiming that episode was edited after broadcast? It was mid-production added after in response to journos demanding gay shit after S1.
>>214849640just like Mikael Prijat Stoklasa said. It respects the fans. That's why it's good.
>>214849687Point taken, but that was the plots of Amphibia and The Owl House, both of which were worthy for other reasons.
>>214848915500 quatloos and one jumja stick. Tsunkatse!
>>214849792They never became a couple during the series, and there was no evidence they ever felt that way about each other. Boimler, like me, seemed to hate Mariner.>>214849836>mid production addedEvidence? Or is this just cope?
>>214849817Not reading any of that shit. Don’t care
>>214849813That’s pretty impressive desu since Berman and Braga weren’t TOS fans.
>>214849792Is that an anime thing? I don't watch anime.
>>214849687I would the chibi dragon creature.
>>214849795And Neelix still doesn't learn and accidentally sponsors a prison break later on.
>>214849921You'll care when the jackboots break down your door and look through your phone's "pictures" folder.
for me, it's TOS Tendi
>>214849980Yeah I’m sure they’ll be fascinated by my collection of Star Trek screenshots and stale memes
>>214849990TAS Tendi innit.
>>214849920You never get your main couple together unless it is the end of the end. Clearly the creators hope for more so they are holding out. This is TV 101. The fun is in the chase. The series dropped enough hints in the show and its very obvious who the two couples are.
>>214850025I'm getting blind here. 4k makes everything so tiny. TAS, yes
>>214850052They obviously weren't going to continue the show after the end of season 5, given the world-breaking conclusion. And they covered Tendi & Rutherford in episode 406, where they made it clear they were really uncomfortable even pretending to be romantic.
>>214848337live long and prosperity
>>214849972Classic.With all these dumb aliens and scammers I can understand why there’s no major organized non-Borg power in the Delta Quadrant.>>214850052I never really got that sense from Boimler and Mariner. OTOH, the show but a big neon sign other Rutherford and Tendi.
>>214849972>it turns out the Bekarans all deserved to be in prisonlollmao
>>214850101Did you watch the end when he removed his implant and he was all flustered? Or what about on that defiant class ship when Boimler encounters the alt Mariner and he gets all emotional?Did you watch the show? If you know the tropes this is all clear.
good lord, one of those women who will not be satisfied by one man alone
>>214850178Rutherford was a cool-headed rationalist, and Tendi might have been cute, but was clearly tsundere. Even in the future, the rule is never to stick your dick in crazy.
>>214849920>seemed to hate MarinerAnd you accuse others of not watching the show.
>>214850187>cartoon poster starts inserting their cuck fetish into postsEvery time.
>>214850101>They obviously weren't going to continue the show after the end of season 5Cope. It was canceled.
>>214850187>still bi>still a bitch>still blackno thanks
>>214850137The Mariner one is a bit more subtle but the lady doth protest too much. No one who is not interested says as much as Mariner
>Trek finally has an inflation scene.>It happens to a dude.>Ofcourse! even Lower Decks fails at that.
>>214850273son of dob get ye gone
People wanted Mariner and Boimler together. The show went out of its way to spite them. NuTrek sucks balls.
>>214850314They were going for the thousand year old trope that (((men and women can just be friends))) This only works if the bitch is ugly
>>214850256As they've stated repeatedly, Paramount ended LD because of the nature of the streaming model, where the most important thing is bringing in new subscriptions, and a long-running series doesn't do that. Besides, your precious TOS was canceled after 2 seasons, then brought back for a truly cringe-inducing 3rd season, featuring such winners as "Spock's Brain". People who live in glass houses should wait until nightfall to use the restroom.
>>214850346>This only works if the bitch is uglyThis is false, I don't even acknowledge ugly women.
>>214850314I was there when /a/ got the news. It was devastating.
>>214850146That episode should have ended with the nygaeans immediately air locking all the prisoners as soon as they got them back on one of their ships. The frozen corpses of the benkarans would make soft, steady thudding sounds against Voyager's hull as she slowly maneuvers away to continue the journey to the Alpha Quadrant.
>>214850314>strawman argument>unsupported assumption>jumped-to conclusionI'll bet your lack of mental precision has several positive and wonderful effects on your success in life.
>>214850370TOS season 3 has good eps, Lower Decks isn't even Trek.
what if Voyager met v'ger?
>>214850434Janeway would have a found a way to destroy it
>>214850434Janeway would shoot it.
exercise punishment protocol 9 alpha.all of you.
>>214850415You’re just spiraling out again.
>>214850434Janeway would eat it.
>>214850370TOS had twice as many episodes. And one thousand fold the cultural impact.
>>214850434They'd ride a bicycle made of dreams into friendship together. Then it V'ger would betray them for some retarded reason and Janeway would beam it somewhere to be destroyed.
>>214845540I love how they had this one shitty prop cake that they used for every celebration.
>>214845563The funny part is, that they're so scared to out themselves at first... even thought in ST universe being openly LGBTQ shoult be as normal as breathing.
>>214850434v'ger as in vaginer saar?
>>214850552It is like when you are able to reuse a vfx shotjust think of the savings
>>214850582It's like 35yo Picard having a panic attack in the turbolift because the captain said his baseball cap is violating starfleet uniform protocol and everyone will know he is bald now.
I love how Kate Mulgrew headcanoned Janeway as a secret drunk to explain away all the character inconsistencies.
>>214850646Presumably you can get drunk on synthale and then dismiss it when you need too, so does the star fleet allow drinking on the job?
>>214850503I accept your concession.
>>214850699And I yours.
>>214850646Makes sense.>>214850676She's in the Delta Quadrant, the fuck is Starfleet Command gonna do?
>>214850582Humanity is exposed to so many different philosophies after first contact, so many new alien concepts of living. Realistically every human should be on some kind of new age trip, adopting all kinds of alien belief systems.
>>214850526>79 >= 50 x 2You're really bad at math.>cultural impactI'm surprised you even brought that up.>>214850676Who's going to bust her for day-drinking when she's on the other side of the galaxy? Right.
>>214850723One follows protocol because it is the right thing to do not because someone else is watching. You know that duty thing
I stopped watching Discovery after season 3. Some alien kid farthing galaxy sized dilithium clouds that explode warp engines, every time he has a panic attack was to much bs for me to handle. Did anything over the top like this happened in season 4 and 5? And was there any point go Grey? And how did he became a real boy?
>>214850716What a sad cope.So what people wanted Mariner and Boimler together? I sure as hell didn't. Did you read about that in some nobody-rando's blog? How did the show go out of its way to spite the 'shippers? I think the show toyed with them, but ultimately concluded that arc in a way that made sense.Your seething, unsupported conclusion isn't even worth recapping.
>>214850778you're better off forgetting everything to do with STD and not continuing to engage with it, it never stops being ridiculous
>>214850403Why would they piss off their most loyal fans again? It’s not like they had any fans to spare. Barely anyone watched the show in the first place.
>>214850646>Mulgrew headcanoned Janeway as a secret drunkDid she really? That explains a lot. Like, why I couldn't stand Janeway. I've had very bad experiences with alcoholics, and shun anyone who overindulges.
Who is your favorite Trek couple?
>>214850873The threads on /a/ disappeared literally over night.
>35 minutes of some old man living in a villageThis is trash
>>214850883This explains why I am so hated here.
>>214850778You're way more gracious than me. I dropped that shit when they made Harry Mudd a murdering psychopath.
>>214850887Kirk and the Enterprise
>>214850905This is my worst nightmare. Just like that DS9 episode where they implant you with 20 years of hard prison time memories.
>>214850778I managed to give up on Discovery at the end of season 2. The red angel thing was just too dumb for words. I heard about season 3 and how even the fans thought the dramatic tension fizzled in a really unsatisfactory way and never thought to watch it or go back to the series.
>>214850314>People wanted Mariner and Boimler together.I didn't. I was fine with them being just friends.
>>214850907You're controversial because of your takes.
>>214850883Voyager had lots of behind-the-scenes lulz like that.
>>214850905At least Picard finally got laid. That uptight prick needed it desperately.
Imagine shipping hahahahahahaha wow lame am I rite?
>>214850944This certainly justifies my overall poor opinion of Voyager.>before the show began, all the actors were gathered together and told to play all the human characters as wooden and lifeless, so as to make all the alien characters "pop" in comparisonBoy, does THAT ring true. So, that image was fun and all, but is any of this supported by any official, or semi-official, sources? Don't get me wrong... I WANT to believe...
>>214851002>>214851002>>214851002
Everytime I say I don't like VOY I get told to go fuck myself.
>>214851018Probably not, since it's mostly Hollywood rumors. The Ron Moore thing is confirmed true.Pretty sure there was other stuff not mentioned there, like some shit involving Kes's actor.
>>214849428McMahan calls his discreet encounters with, uh, Golden Axewounds, "Double double. Animal style."
>>214850944And then Ron went and made BSG>That's how you do lost in space, with no resources losersAnd then he ruined it in season 3 and 4.
>>214851064Fair enough. At least it's Hollywood rumors and not some stupid seething 4chan rumor.>>214851063Hopefully that ended when >>214813162 fucked off. The thread has been noticeably less crappy since then.>>214851092At least one more seether to go, it seems...
>>214850944>the perfidious greco-armenian strikes again!
>>214849113because he was already old at the start of TNG at 47. people don't change much after that point except to get gray hair and more wrinkles. he never had hair to begin with, but he did obviously get wrinkles.
>>214848971it was a non-corporeal being with the power to alter reality. how do you suggest they deal with it?
>>214845510Those TNG shuttles were so fucking ugly
>>214850944>>214851413"jamake highwater" was actually jewish, not "greek armenian"
>>214851413>>214851619This is my favorite trivia about Voyager, that they created the "inclusive" character of Chakotay, based around the teaching from a scammer.
>>214851619Isnt a jew just a greco-armenian with extra steps?
>>214851669Inclusive? He was discount Mike Tyson.
>>214851782mike tyson-core is very inclusive aesthetic
>>214851782>MINE'S BIGGER!
>>214851782>Star Trek: Voyager first aired on January 16, 1995>Mike Tyson got his famous face tattoo in 2003You have that backwards anon
Why the fuck did he have a Maori tattoo anyway if he was supposed to be a native american?
>>214850414That’s cold man. I like that
>>214851669When you watch it Chakotay starts off as a Mezo then a couple seasons later he's a Plains Indian.
>>214851953Cause no one gave a shit.just say its some obscure central American tribe.
>>214852008tbf "Chakotay" does sound more plains-y
>>214852008>>214852009>>214852033One word: native-x. See how easy that makes things?
