Young actors cost less. A lot of the horror boom coincides with all these teen TV drama kids trying to get into film. Doing a horror gives you an audience that doesn't watch the kinds of shows kid actors get. Like Neve Campbell taking Scream was mostly to wash off being known for Party of Five and get a new audience

>>
>>214861921

This one was so gritty and nasty that I had to just stop after 40 minutes or so, but I have a track record of being a pussy and later finishing horror films later in life. Based on what I saw I found it surprising that Siskel and Ebert liked it. Ebert's instincts have dated far better than Siskel's.

Those creepy, shitty little shots inside the tiny apartmnet set or whatever. The girl asks him "didn't you just say [other thing ,not killing the guy or whatever]?" He just goes cold and looks off to the side and is like, "Oh... yeah". Although dramatic, it seems realistic. Worse, obviously the young woman is interested in him, or at least that's how I took it.

I seem to remember another early scene of his victim, her body on full display, in full light, basic blood effects etc. Looked a bit too silly IMO, and the camera just stayed on the still, alive-looking model lady for too long.

>urban decay
Those movies were just a reflection of the decline that was becoming very noticeable in USA. By 70s and 80’s, the decay could be seen everywhere in every city. I remember watching Jason Goes To Hell and seeing the empty factory and warehouses and the rowdy blacks on the streets.
In the 60s and early 70’s, they were still able to portray blacks as sophisticated and jazzy but by 80’s that image was gone and the best they could come up with was “goofy do no harm” type of black.
Even in Live and Let Die, I was surprised to see parts of Harlem and other places so run down.
>>
>>214866326
nta but those films were great looking too. Combat Shock is one of the more /hor/ ones. Kino.
>>
>>214866255
Wrong type of movies.
>>214866013
>>214866326
By 70’s, once great cities have turned to shit due to trash people and mainly immigrants. For every wave or group of immigrants, half might have been beneficial to country and half just destroyed the country slowly and generationally.
For example, in the Warriors, great directors btw, you can see New York was a total shithole in parts and has been declining slowly since the 50s. Even the subways and stuff was shown as dirty by the 70s and Death Wish showed this.
70s seemed so dirty. 80s, it seems like USA opened up the world more and had another boom. More wealth created and more investments and country has been getting richer and the wealth gap has kept going up and technology has been getting better since 80s very quickly.
>>
>>214866354
>Combat Shock
Is probably the most depressing movie that has ever been made. Nothing, not a single fucking thing, in this guys life has ever gone well. Like he is a dozen people that have been dealt a bad hand rolled into one. Everything about him, his world and his life is ugly, run down and nothing goes well.
>>
>>214866440
By the 80’s, usa had technological advancements, and the rich got richer and the ladder hasnt been pulled up yet so many people were able to work and get rich. So while the 70s was dirty and grimey, post 80s was a boom for many people.
80s had many movies about tech like Terminator 1 and that Matthew Broderick movie.
But now, today, the ladder is pulled up now. New form of feudalism is happening rapidly infront of us daily.
However, I still say to people: you, your parents and grandparents had 100 years to make, why havent you guys made it?
>>
>>214865629
Angst is one of Gaspar Noé's favorite films and was a big influence on his style apparently. It's on my watchlist for October.
>>
>>214866450
I agree but I honestly find it really comfy now. I can watch it on repeat, it's the story of a guy drifting towards the drain. Most films even with bad endings have rays of light but it's like, what happens when nothing works and there is no safety net.
Anyway there's good transfers of it now as opposed to when I first watched it years ago and it looked like it was smeared with vaseline. Makes all the difference.
The tunes are nightwalk kino too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJEnosMz1kY
>>
I always tell people if they want to see what the future is like, watch
>Judge Dredd, Stallone
>Demolition Man
>Elysium
>Total Recall remake
All these movies were able to show the huge wealth gap among the rich and the poor in a realistic way. And all the movies showed of how even the poors will have tech. Ready Player 1 showed off the wealth gap too.
>>
The 70’s was garbage but the 80s tech boom saved USA.
>>
>>214865839
>70s
>Death Wish
>Clockwork Orange
By the 70’s, I am going to assume an entire class or group of people became low class and these people became the majority of cities or towns and they spread out to nice areas causing crime.
The first major wealth gap has been created and I am going to assume by the 80s, the welfare state kicked in and coming off the gold standard and a debt based economy came in which also helped with investments creating new wealth and technological advancements.
>>

Any other recent kino like Weapons? did anons like it? Even for a 2 hours movie I felt the ending came too quick and easy and didnt develop what the she was gonna use the kids for. I liked the black phone and the oddity which both had a similar atmosphere
>>
>>214866656
So by 80s and early 90s and onwards, parts of the country became productive. And the welfare state alongside kept growing and growing and growing and by late 80s and early 90’s, gangster rap happened because the wild life was being fed and the population exploded. Movies like
>Boys N the Hood
came out and “hood culture” started going mainstream.
Then their population grew so big due to the welfare state, even movies had to have them as big main characters.
>Denzel Washington
>Eddie Murphy
>Chris Tucker
By then, the rot in usa has been cemented.
>>
>>214866711
That was one of the reasons why 80’s movies are so especially shitty. It is because while they are “old,” they are still usually full of blacks. Unlike the 70s which had cleaner movies and less forced actors or actresses meant to tick off boxes. By 80’s, capitalism has full taken over every aspect of society. All the streets were full of bright signs and logos.
>>
>>214866672
it's not good, the most hyped horror movies of the year usually are among the weaker ones
>>
>>214866764
This is also one of the reasons why Romero is a certified cuck.
There was no reason so cast that black in Night of the Living Dead and even studios at that time didnt bother with blacks. Romero sought out a black man cause he is a fucking cuck. Fuck Romero.
>>
>>214866711
>>214866764
>>214866783
you seem a little obsessed with black guys buddy
>>
>>214866783
And to purposely cast the black as the cool calm collected character was pure beta cuckoldry. Pathetic. Funny enough, some of his 70s movies didnt have blacks.
So for him to cast a black in Night of the Living Dead and for that role too, Romero is a real pos cuck.
>>
>>214866800
The country and Hollywood is obsessed with blacks because blacks are a group you need to pander too. They need constant attention. Look at all the videos of them dancing in the subway. And with their large numbers, they do have some spending power. Casting in Hollywood does reflect reality.
With the trans shooters these past years, the woke left is fully mobile now. Every movie has a gay couple now.
>>
>>214866800
Things will continue to get worse for entertainment and horror movies because as the poors get poorer and their population grows, movies and entertainment will need to cater to them more.
I swear Silent Hill F was set in Japan jusr so they wouldn’t have to have blacks.
>>
>>214866764
you sound insane
>>
>>214866884
They couldn’t pull a Silent Hill F treatment on the upcoming Resident Evil so RE9 is full of girlbosses and blacks.
>>
>>214866901
He isnt wrong. Blacks are just too far away from every race and forcing them into every movie is bound to be controversial. If movies are meant to cater to every race in Hollywood, why are you surprised it backfires? Blacks, without intervention, would still be in the stone ages. Forcing them into every movie since the 80’s as the small town sheriffs , head of police departments, and CEO of Skynet (LOL) and computer hackers, what is wrong with calling it out?

How did no one go “wtf?!” when a black guy was ceo of SKYNET. Every in the 80’s and 90’s just took it up the ass and we are where we are today.

What do people see in pic related? It's incredibly on the nose, repetitive, not funny, not clever. It's such a nothing film that only gets mildly fun towards the end, but by then it's too little too late.

Need recommendations for the spooky month. I've planned to watch all of the Conjuring films because I've only seen the first two.
I also need some TV shows.

Assume I've been living under a rock and haven't seen any of the new stuff so don't be afraid to recommend mainstream stuff.
>>

The whole thing with Dr. Voldemort drugging Spike, killing and butchering his mom while he was out, then handing him her skull when he woke up, and then that whole thing being treated like a touching moment was enough of a turn-off, but then the tonal whiplash of the final scene that would have been too retarded for Shaun of the Dead made me not terribly interested in where they were going with it, but then finding out that Nia “BLACK GIRL MAGIC” Dacosta is directing Bone Temple completely killed any interest I may have had. Bonus points because one of the leads is that bug-eyed ginger mulatto who Disney was obsessed with forcing into everything for a few years.

I hated the Left 4 Dead “special infected” too, and also the fact that the dad didn’t give enough of a shit about his wife and son to go look for them.

There's a sense of looming dread throughout the movie that leads up to that one thing that happens that lasts 5 frames in all, but until that point the movie is somewhat underwhelming, despite the fair attempt to build the tension and prepare you for the impactful moment.
So I guess I'm looking for something that works like that but is good throughout.

Amicus was a British production company that's famous for their anthology films from the 60s and 70s. Basically Hammer copies also starring their most common actors like Lee or Cushing. If you like that era or gothic themes you should definitely check them out. Obviously there's always stronger and weaker episodes in each moviel but overall they're fun to watch and cozy as hell.

For those who think, " it's okay, he didn't mean it, it was just casual, he also said about an Indian actor being a superhero" remember this is how casual racism works, we were the ones to invent shampoo and still now the online perception goes that " Indians smell like poop " how did this thing become so largely scaled ? Coz initially we passed this as just a joke. I don't want another negative stereotype for Indians. He could have simply said " 12 year old " you didn't have to generalise an entire country while promoting SUPERMAN

>Texts from Akkadian period show that Mesopotamians dealt with a wide range of skin diseases. Their culture emphasized personal hygiene to prevent illness, and there is frequent reference to their use of both medicated and regular soaps and shampoos as methods of prevention and treatment.

He's sort of right, but what actually happened is the British army went to India, and most armies being a sausage fest, they were very happy that there were bathing services like hair washing (champu) available. It's like the British Raj equivalent of a soapland, it got imported back to england as a foreign exotic health treatment and eventually became just the soap involved (hibiscus)
It's like how a lot of places that started as imported Turkish bathhouses often became gay bathhouses in the west.
Tl;Dr sex tourism is why you wash your hair in flowery shit
