Best horror of 2025 for me to marathon next month?
>>
>>214887963
> Shrew's Nest" is a 2014 Spanish psychological horror film, also known as Musarañas, that features a Misery-style plot involving an agoraphobic woman who takes a man hostage after he injures himself in her home. Produced by Álex de Iglesia and directed by Juanfer Andrés and Esteban Roel, the film stars Macarena Gómez as the protective sister who nurses the injured man back to health, but soon turns him into a prisoner to maintain her sanity and control.

>But I was CONVINCED by my parochial school teacher that if I worked on The Twilight Zone, which she had determined was satanic, I would go to hell. (This woman and her bullshit played a big role in my conversion to atheism at a young age, but when she told me that, I was all-in on the supernatural story they taught us in religion class.) I was so scared, more scared than I’d ever been to that point in my life, I cried and wailed and begged my parents to not make me do the movie. And I never told them why, because I was afraid my dad would laugh at me for being weak and afraid. My agent tried to talk me into it, and I wouldn’t budge. It’s the only thing I deeply and truly regret passing on, and I really hate I made that choice for such a stupid reason.

blair witch sucks
>>
>>214892124
The reason I say that was, yeah there were a lot of good elements in FNAF (excellent cast), but it also annoyed me a bunch. Lacked jumpscares, lacked blood, but it teased both. I didn't mind the ghostkids being why the suits were alive, but hated the ghost kid appearances. Ghost kids ruin most films they appear in. It just miffed me.
Willy's on the other hand, just glided over my brain without resistance. I've said it before but it felt like a kaiju film where Nic Cage plays the main kaiju.

Definitely, in fact I'm pretty surprised they have it but I'm not American and Walmart probably has everything.
They just sell physical copies to combat piracy, it's a lot harder to come by online than most releases.

Anyways, Wayward seemed to work because the two main girls played boyish characters. If they were roastie characters, I wouldn’t have finished it.
Alien Earth was good until around episode 6. The finale was so garbage.
>>
Why did the director pivot so hard into comedy (possibly unintentional at times) and "baddass psychic battles" so much? You see directors get stuck in a rut. become formulaic or prove to be a one hit wonder but this is one of the few times I've seen a director make a conscious decision to make shitty films and keep doing it.

House of Sayuri wasn't even a bad concept, living with a vengeful spirit that they keep in check by shaming it and overpowering it. It was just done really badly.
>>
>>214892640
>baddass psychic battles
I think he just really loves that shit man. there's like 8 different psychics show up in senritsu or something. also lovecraftian tentacles.
Sayuri is so schizophrenic I think it's a better film for it. It'd be pretty generic without it. I've rarely seen a film with such clashing tones as "comedy grandma grandson duo" and "your whole family is dead" and "child rape"
>>
>>214892674
none of the parts gel together. The family ghost slaughter is played entirely straight, psychic grandmother turns into a comedy, the final third is a torture revenge film.

Any bleh kinos where the vampire(s) is the protagonist?
Particularly where they still feed on people, maybe with their consent, and not the "i shall abstain because i am le good vampire" trope.
>>
>>214892933
I keep thinking of films and then going oh yeah that's an "I shall abstain" film.
Interview with a Vampire is one.
>>
>>214892985
Yeah the whole tortured abstinent vampire thing is definitely a recurring theme. I'd like to see more unapologetic vampires who still feed on people but maybe with their consent, like a partner or a friend, or maybe only kill and feed on assholes and criminals.
Femdom vampire gf who feeds on her shy awkward bf is such a cute concept but I can't recall it ever being done.
>>
>>214893041
Did you see Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person? I normally hate the fluffy stuff but I actually enjoyed it, mainly for the cute vampire gf element.

Horror in the High Desert is probably similar. They're faux true crime documentaries, more about the details than the visuals.

Look up r51.com.
Nymphomaniac household seems to have been the basis for it then they took that idea and turned it up to a billion.
They took a disgusting crack den, hired a thousand fat/ugly/old freaks with a couple of actual pornstars interspersed and just let them loose, complete with every bodily fluid coming from every orifice.
It's like an actual portal into what Sodom/Gomorrah looked like.
It kind of is a type of horror porn I guess, just not at all a hot one.

4chan won't let me upload a video of it but if you want to check it out check the op video here.

I don't think it's ever explicitly stated, but I like to believe they all take place within the same universe and roughly follow the timeline of the outbreak’s progression
you can pretty much piece together a timeline because those movies always mention how many days, months, or years have passed since the initial outbreak

Agree about Barbarian, disagree vehemently on Weapons, the scene with the witch running away panicked is the properly built up pinnacle of the movie.
There is something about the length that doesn't quite work though, I'll give you that. But the ending picks up, whereas with Barbarian, it just goes to shit when the ambiguity is lost.
