>>214877701>terence stamp supposed to be christ? That is the traditional interpretation of the film, yes.>i dont see religious sentiment at all except in the woman levitating, but its too little. It is about christian faith.Emilia (the maid) represents true christianity and its connection to the poor people's authentic lifestyles, while the rich family shows the inauthenticity of the elites that gets exposed by Terrence's presence, but gets redeemed in the same way by his "lessons". It's also evident that Terrence's character loves every person in the family without there being a discrimination for their age, sex or class, representing Christ saving humanity through inconditional love. The levitation scene is just the physical representation of the revelations and miracles that Terence gives the family, in the sense that they get confronted with the truth about themselves and are then left to act according to their own conscience. Some of them are unable to face themselves (the young lady that dies due to "not letting go"; being incapable of accepting the new version of herself that was shown by Terrence), while others are able to adapt and sacrifice their egos to realize their true potential (the father, which symbolically removes his links to materialism (clothes, status, money) and gets naked as a way of showing his intention to start again from a perspective of humbleness). All in all, Pasolini presents a simplified version of christianity that can be represented by the following biblical quote: "it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" - Luke 18:25

>>214880563Took you long enough.
>>214880563Same.
>>214878185the only acts of love of terence stamp (christ) is sexuality.i dont care at all about religion labels, but just that made it, at best, an approximation to love/sex as redemtption. not a christian message. my point is that there is nothing christian about it if you want to give some credibility to the word itself. anyway there is a little sense in what you say, its dumb, and, like i said, a pretty millenial "subversive" take for the "subversive´s sake. but pasolini was not a very bright mind, so its possible. mi interpretation was that the bourguoise live a fake life, an emotionally dry life (the volcanic landscape) and terence stamp as some kind of naive stupid representation of the new hippy liberated people of now or the future without the suffocating restrictions of societal rules. all in all an unnecesary alegorical take for a cliche like that

Can you name any chinese director from the chinese canon before 5th and sixth gen? Can you name a Mexican golden age film? Can you name an Indian indie film? You see my point? Naming levels to this shit are like trying to dig to the core of the earth with a spatula. Besides, the people who take it the most hardcore are the ones who experience art as a spiritual endeavor. Who take the great works of Cinema as a lens into the timeless patterns of human experience to contextualize them and they occur in real time in your own life. This way art becomes less about becoming a worthy reproductive entity according to the ideals of insert social identity group, and more about going to the source to become a better communicator, more prepared to find fortune within the ways people will come to treat you, more accepting of natural life, more comfortably precious with your vulnerability, and more important to people and the human race. Precisely because you can love freely. And this love rises past Cinema. It's a love that loves more once its loved a little. We all have this love in great spades by virtue of being human. The love that comes to love architecture, scuplture, painting, music, literature, photography, dance, and theatre. And beyond that, History, philosophy, theology, spirtuality, psychology, sociology, anthropology, political science, economics and when you're done with all that, the natural sciences. Stay loving! Stay flying! Choose your energy to be part of the world! But you know what. I'll forgive you if you can answer only THIS one question. Are Pinku Eigas porn films?
